I originally created these surveys to provide a fun diversion that would get the community talking about their hobby. Along the way, I've learned a lot about BGG and its users.

Please note: I have started a subscription thread here: http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/305311

As your geeklist entry, select the game you'd currently most like to play.

In the entry, please answer all of the following questions in a single geeklist entry:

1) Name a game that isn't in the BGG top 300 and isn't a new release that you've recently played and enjoyed.
2) As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
3) Which of your top 10 games is least like the other 9?
4) Do you have a favorite game in the GIPF series? If so, which is it and why?
5) If you could only play 1 game with a group of good friends each year, what would it be and why?
6) What game would you choose to play with an 11 year old girl?
7) Which unplayed game that you own are you most anxious to try?
8) Do you have a dedicated game room?
9) How do you transport games to other gaming locations?
10) What is the weirdest gift you've ever received?

Bonus Question: What question should I ask on my next geeklist?

1) Name a game that isn't in the BGG top 300 and isn't a new release that you've recently played and enjoyed.

I recently played Excape (rated 1163). I actually prefer this push-your-luck dice game by Reiner Knizia to Sid Sackson's Can't Stop.

2) As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

As a kid, I enjoyed taking things apart and had a knack for understanding mechanisms. In school, I did well with math and physics. I knew I wanted to create things. For awhile, I didn't know if I wanted to be an architect, industrial designer, inventor, or an engineer. I'm currently a research and development engineer for a printer company.

3) Which of your top 10 games is least like the other 9?

Pit is a loud, chaotic party game.

Zendo is a unique induction game that approximates the scientific method.

4) Do you have a favorite game in the GIPF series? If so, which is it and why?

I've not played any of the GIPF series. I'll be reading other people's responses on this question to form an opinion on some of these games.

5) If you could only play 1 game with a group of good friends each year, what would it be and why?

I'd like to be able to chat, enjoy a tasty beverage, and interact with the other players. Settlers of Catan with some expansions would be a good option. I think that Railroad Tycoon might also work well.

6) What game would you choose to play with an 11 year old girl?

Hide and seek. I'd likely ask them to hide. devil

7) Which unplayed game that you own are you most anxious to try?

I'm anxious to try Reef Encounter. I've seen this game compared to Tigris and Euphrates. If this is true, I'm certain to like it!

8) Do you have a dedicated game room?

I have a dedicated storage space in an upstairs bedroom.

I play games downstairs at my dining room table.

9) How do you transport games to other gaming locations?

When I am not hosting, I usually carry two to four games with me to game day. Typically, they're carried by hand. If there is risk of rain, I'll put them in a garbage bag. I'm thinking about upgrading to some other means.

10) What is the weirdest gift you've ever received?

I was given Eva, the inflatable ewe, as a gag gift. She has a very creepy grin. My old roomate and I hide her in unexpected places to scare one another.

1) Name a game that isn't in the BGG top 300 and isn't a new release that you've recently played and enjoyed.
Masons. Rank is 513 of this posting. Game came out in 2006. I recently picked it up when it was posted that Amazon was selling it and a few other titles for $10. With my regular gift certificate from my credit card, picked up this and the other 3 for $3.75 each!

Anyway, we just played it and enjoyed it. It was a light game that offered up some interesting choices while playing. Even better: we could play this on the floor while the baby slept!

2) As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
An adult. Jury is still out if I accomplished that goal.

3) Which of your top 10 games is least like the other 9?
Union Pacific. Train-themed game that is out of print. But more importantly, it;'s number 10 so the most likely to be booted out the next time I revise it.

4) Do you have a favorite game in the GIPF series? If so, which is it and why?
Nope. Never got into it. Of all the game types, It appears the true abstract games are my least favorite as I own none.

5) If you could only play 1 game with a group of good friends each year, what would it be and why?
Probably Battlestar Galactica. It is the one I have the most fun with a large group of people.

6) What game would you choose to play with an 11 year old girl?
Um.... Thankfully, I don't know any 11-y/o girls and have no desire to play with them.

7) Which unplayed game that you own are you most anxious to try?
Currently: Gloria Mundi since it is the most recent purchase. But I have been wanting to try this if I can get the right group of people together: Long Live the King

8) Do you have a dedicated game room?
Not yet. We just moved to a new house and I hope to create one.

9) How do you transport games to other gaming locations?
If it is only a game or three, then carry them by themselves and toss them in the back seat. If it is more than that, I usually plop them all in a plastic bin and haul that around. Most every game is still in the original package with expansions, if any, crammed in there. Only a few games have their own "carry case" sysytem: C&C: Ancients & Carcassonne.

10) What is the weirdest gift you've ever received?
A gum ball machine. Maybe not that weird but I was really offended when I got it and have been scarred ever since.

Bonus Question: What question should I ask on my next geeklist?
(Given the assumed timing of the next list...)
What game would you have wished someone got you that you did not receive for Christmas?

Which way to the nearest cliff?
mbmbmbmbmb
1) Name a game that isn't in the BGG top 300 and isn't a new release that you've recently played and enjoyed.

Top Gun played at a convention using minis. It was a recreation of the first training mission from the movie were Maverick and Iceman take on the red team instructors. No one else showed up to play so it was me pushing Mav and Ice against the gentleman running the game. Mav and Ice prevailed in the end with Ice beating out Mav by a comfortable margin. Mav didn't seem to like this and living up to his name requested a flyby of the tower. I have a Top Gun patch to prove it.

2) As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

To live in the woods in NH, own a Jeep and near as I can remember not work.

3) Which of your top 10 games is least like the other 9?

Magic: The Gathering because it is a money grubbing collectible game.

4) Do you have a favorite game in the GIPF series? If so, which is it and why?

No, I haven't played any of them.

5) If you could only play 1 game with a group of good friends each year, what would it be and why?

I would like it to be Advanced Civilization but that would likely not be it. It would probably end up being Magic: The Gathering. Or people I know also like drunken Crokinole.

6) What game would you choose to play with an 11 year old girl?

Not sure. My niece is six and she likes things like Hungry Hungry Hippos, Don't Wake Daddy & Guess Who?. I got her Gulo Gulo one Christmas but it didn't take. cry

My friend's daughter played games with us occasionally at that age, usually 1000 Blank White Cards.

7) Which unplayed game that you own are you most anxious to try?

Battlestar Galactica: Pegasus Expansion

8) Do you have a dedicated game room?

No. cry

9) How do you transport games to other gaming locations?

A red Medium LL Bean Adventure duffel bag
or plastic bins, depends on the circumstances.

10) What is the weirdest gift you've ever received?

Not sure, I'm probably blocking it out. The first person to send me something weird gets their name mentioned here.

What was the best game related thing you got for the holidays?

mbmbmbmbmb
1) Name a game that isn't in the BGG top 300 and isn't a new release that you've recently played and enjoyed.

Spades
Wasn't all that great, but was better than watching tv. And the group wasn't in the mood for one of the Euros I keep trying to push on them.

2) As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Nuclear Physicist. Making WMDs sounded cool when I was 8.

3) Which of your top 10 games is least like the other 9?

Say Anything
It's only one of two party games that would even make my top 100. The other being Wits and Wagers.

4) Do you have a favorite game in the GIPF series? If so, which is it and why?

Nope. Not a huge fan of abstracts. Maybe if they'd tack on a farming or renaissance theme

5) If you could only play 1 game with a group of good friends each year, what would it be and why?

Puerto Rico It's still my favorite game. I'd welcome the chance to destroy my friends at this. If I only get to play with them once a year, might as well spend it beating them mercilessly.

6) What game would you choose to play with an 11 year old girl?

Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition. For some reason a dice fest would seem more appropriate than a quiet Euro.

7) Which unplayed game that you own are you most anxious to try?

Age of Empires III: The Age of Discovery

8) Do you have a dedicated game room?

I wish. If the arizona ground wasn't solid rock, I'd be out there digging a basement.

9) How do you transport games to other gaming locations?

Two big nylon bags.

10) What is the weirdest gift you've ever received?

toilet paper holder / radio

Bonus Question: What question should I ask on my next geeklist?

What nerdiness(not geekiness) trait do you despise seeing in others when you come across it at places like an FLGS?

1) Name a game that isn't in the BGG top 300 and isn't a new release that you've recently played and enjoyed.

World Cup Game - 7 of us played last week. My two teams were knocked out in the first round.

2) As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I can't remember anything specific, although by the age of 14 or so I was thinking of being an architect (but changed my mind before college).

3) Which of your top 10 games is least like the other 9?

Taking the Top 10 from my profile (which doesn't get updated very often), I guess I'd say Imperial. The others all have some degree of auction / worker placement. It's also the only one where I don't play a specific colour.

4) Do you have a favorite game in the GIPF series? If so, which is it and why?

Probably YINSH, because its simple.

5) If you could only play 1 game with a group of good friends each year, what would it be and why?

I've never thought about this, but I do see a few people every 6 months or so, and a couple of us try and get a game of Maharaja: The Game of Palace Building in India played (not always successfully).

6) What game would you choose to play with an 11 year old girl?

It depends on how many games this 11 year old had played, butI think Agricola (family version) would work OK.

7) Which unplayed game that you own are you most anxious to try?

I'd like to play Revolution: The Dutch Revolt 1568-1648 but never seem to get the opportunity.

8) Do you have a dedicated game room?

No, but I know somebody who does.

9) How do you transport games to other gaming locations?

Either carried in a holdall (locally) or in a suitcase (to far-away conventions).

10) What is the weirdest gift you've ever received?

When I was about 20, my sister brought back a kangaroo pelt for me from her trip to Australia. I vaguely remember my response upsetting her.

1) Name a game that isn't in the BGG top 300 and isn't a new release that you've recently played and enjoyed.

The closest I can come to is Railways of England and Wales since it doesn't have a rank yet.

2) As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
First, a New York Yankee. Second, a Sportscaster. I got to be one of them for a brief time.

3) Which of your top 10 games is least like the other 9?
Interesting question. I would say 1960: The Making of the President because it is a strictly 2P game, where the others can be played with 2, but also more than 2.

4) Do you have a favorite game in the GIPF series? If so, which is it and why?
I don't know what the GIPF series is, so probably not.

5) If you could only play 1 game with a group of good friends each year, what would it be and why?
Air Baron - that was our game of choice at game night when I was living at home.

6) What game would you choose to play with an 11 year old girl?
Carcassonne, Stone Age maybe, or Blokus

7) Which unplayed game that you own are you most anxious to try?
Traders of Osaka and Michelangelo

8) Do you have a dedicated game room?
Kinda, sorta.

9) How do you transport games to other gaming locations?
Depends on the location. If we're going to my in-laws I only bring 1 or 2 games and they go in a shoulder bag. When I go to the WBC and take a lot of games, I have a large plastic tub.

10) What is the weirdest gift you've ever received?
When I was in HS, my friends got me a replica of an Egyptian guardian. Looked like this guys, but it was only the head. You could put a candle behind it's eyes to make them glow. It was pretty creepy.

1) Name a game that isn't in the BGG top 300 and isn't a new release that you've recently played and enjoyed.
Currently ranked at #1373, I'm a big fan of Yahtzee Free for All which I played on November 27th.

2) As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A baseball player.

3) Which of your top 10 games is least like the other 9?
Great question! I guess I would say that Time's Up! Title Recall! is probably the odd man out because it's the only party game that makes my top 10 and, as you might expect with a party game, it has a completely different feel from strategy games.

4) Do you have a favorite game in the GIPF series? If so, which is it and why?
I've never played a GIPF game.

5) If you could only play 1 game with a group of good friends each year, what would it be and why?
Lord of the Rings would be the game that I want to gather with my friends and play. Working together builds the friendships, and the theme is just so much fun to play.

6) What game would you choose to play with an 11 year old girl?
I believe the last game I played with a group of 11-year-old girls was Sorry! Sliders and they absolutely loved it. So I think that's a great choice.

7) Which unplayed game that you own are you most anxious to try?
Star Wars: The Queen's Gambit, hence the reason I chose it for the game in my list entry here. Getting the right opponent to the table with me has been a challenge to say the least.

8) Do you have a dedicated game room?
No. I do have a dedicated game closet for storage, but no game room.

9) How do you transport games to other gaming locations?
We have a ratty old duffle bag on wheels that can fit a ton of games in it all at once. We're looking for something new, but for now this is our mode of game transport.

10) What is the weirdest gift you've ever received?
A batch of intentionally burnt cookies, and I'm talking burnt to the point of being unrecognizable as cookies. (You have to love those youth group gag gift exchanges.)

Bonus Question: What question should I ask on my next geeklist?
Using five words or less, describe the games that you have in your Top 10.

1) Name a game that isn't in the BGG top 300 and isn't a new release that you've recently played and enjoyed.

The Gardens of the Alhambra. I don't understand why this one is so far under the radar - it's not top-100 material, but it's a fun little game from a famous designer, major publisher, similar to Ingenious in depth and speed of play, similar to Samurai in mechanics, looks really good on the table... but as of today it's ranked 1483 and hasn't had a forum post in 2 years!

2) As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Older.

3) Which of your top 10 games is least like the other 9?

Carrom. Normally I disdain dexterity games, but this one isn't like the others. Strategy, tactics, depth, gorgeous to look at, cat-approved.

4) Do you have a favorite game in the GIPF series? If so, which is it and why?

Abstracts make my throat close up.

5) If you could only play 1 game with a group of good friends each year, what would it be and why?

RoboRally, because it can handle up to 8 and has all kinds of fun "take-that!" and "oops!".

6) What game would you choose to play with an 11 year old girl?

Bohnanza?

7) Which unplayed game that you own are you most anxious to try?

Freight Train.

8) Do you have a dedicated game room?

9) How do you transport games to other gaming locations?

1) Name a game that isn't in the BGG top 300 and isn't a new release that you've recently played and enjoyed.

Magellan; it had been a while and we needed something to fill in for around 30 minutes. It lasted 45.

2) As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A scientist, until I discovered it wasn't very exciting.

3) Which of your top 10 games is least like the other 9?

There are too many similarities between at least two of them; so it's either Puerto Rico (the only one still in the top ten) or Princes of the Renaissance (because the rest are about networks/resources).

4) Do you have a favorite game in the GIPF series? If so, which is it and why?

No; never played them because they tend to be too abstract and not multiplayer.

5) If you could only play 1 game with a group of good friends each year, what would it be and why?

It would have to be something everybody enjoyed (so my favourite, Steam/AoS is out), something everybody would like to play and soemthing everybody knows. I can only think of Puerto Rico.

6) What game would you choose to play with an 11 year old girl?

Something girly is hard to find (especially something I might also enjoy). I think 11 is old enough to break out the gamer's games; Settlers of Catan is a good start.

7) Which unplayed game that you own are you most anxious to try?

Until last week that was Alcazar. Now it's Livingstone.

8) Do you have a dedicated game room?

No, and it's highly unlikely I will.

9) How do you transport games to other gaming locations?

Usually in reuseable shopping bags, in the boot of my car, bungeed to prevent their moving aorund the boot.

10) What is the weirdest gift you've ever received?

A marching pig that oinked "Stupid Cupid", and squealed a lot when you pulled its tail. It was a secret Santa at work; who can fathom the mind of the man who bought me this item? It's still a source of some amusement, however.

Duel in the Dark (Rank 489) - The version I got as a Secret Santa gift (thank you!) is the new second edition that was released barely a month ago, but the game itself was originally released in 2007. The first edition had some mold problems that I think scared a lot of people away, but the game itself is excellent. I'm looking forward to many more plays.

Part of me always wanted to be a engineer, and although the engineering I now do for a living doesn't involve designing military jets, I still really enjoy it.

Quote:
3) Which of your top 10 games is least like the other 9?
I don't have a top-ten list of games, but based on the ten highest ratings I've given, PitchCar stands out by being the only dexterity game in the bunch.

Quote:
4) Do you have a favorite game in the GIPF series? If so, which is it and why?
I've never played any games in that series. I'd certainly be willing to try a few out, but none have stood out enough me for to actively seek it out.

Quote:
5) If you could only play 1 game with a group of good friends each year, what would it be and why?
I'm not sure if you mean just one game a year period, or one game a year with a specific group, but my answer is the same either way: Pirates of the Spanish Main

Even though it's not the most "meaty" game out there, the rules are extremely easy to tweak so if it was the only game I got to play with the group, I'd put together some rules for a massive campaign-style game.

Quote:
6) What game would you choose to play with an 11 year old girl?

Star Wars: Epic Duels - My niece is right around that age, and she loves the game (and Star Wars in general).

Quote:
7) Which unplayed game that you own are you most anxious to try?

Tichu - I got it in a trade a few weeks back, but have never had the chance to play it. It sounds like a pretty interesting trick-taking game.

Quote:
8) Do you have a dedicated game room?
Not currently, but someday when I get around to finishing the basement I'll have one (hopefully).

Quote:
9) How do you transport games to other gaming locations?
If it's just a single game I'll carry it without anything else. For multiples we have some nice reusable cloth grocery bags that work well - although I've noticed lately that they are a little rough on boxes with split corners.

Quote:
10) What is the weirdest gift you've ever received?

A funny-looking little light-up rabbit lamp thing. It originally appeared in a box of stuff from my brother-in-law that was intended to go to Goodwill, but somehow it escaped and became one of those wacky "travelling" gifts on my wife's side of the family. It got passed around a bunch last year, and has already been sighted this year...

1) Name a game that isn't in the BGG top 300 and isn't a new release that you've recently played and enjoyed.
That's 4 variables in one question. I'm a simple programmer, not a genius!

2) As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A chemist. A wish Which my first chemist teacher obliterated.

3) Which of your top 10 games is least like the other 9?
Uhm...my catan card game is in a tin box?

4) Do you have a favorite game in the GIPF series? If so, which is it and why?
At this point it's only 'interested'

5) If you could only play 1 game with a group of good friends each year, what would it be and why?
Descent or Arkham Horror. Big, eventful. Each game is an experience.

6) What game would you choose to play with an 11 year old girl?
I'm from the most tolerant country in the world and this question freaks me out
I'd play pickomino

7) Which unplayed game that you own are you most anxious to try?
I don't have unplayed games! I have a SO that keeps me in check

8) Do you have a dedicated game room?
See the answer above

9) How do you transport games to other gaming locations?
I play 99.9% of my games at home with my SO. If we do transport a game it's in a blanket, in a plastic crate, in the back of my car.

10) What is the weirdest gift you've ever received?
Ticket to Ride: Switzerland. Because I had never, ever thought my SO would buy me a game without an occasion

EDIT: Bonus question When is enough really enough?

Dh and I have recently played several games of Keltis. We even got a few games with relatives in at Thanksgiving.

I wanted to be a teacher and a mom. Thankfully, I am both of those!

-Apples to Apples

No, but we have a dedicated game closet.

9) How do you transport games to other gaming locations?
We use a reuseable string grocery bag.

10) What is the weirdest gift you've ever received?
I received some bath gel and a scrubby last year from a student. She assured me, "I told my mom I had to have something for you. We looked all around, and she gave me this because she didn't like the way it smelled and wouldn't use it."

Hamsterrolle

2) As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

An astronaut I think.

3) Which of your top 10 games is least like the other 9?

Twilight Struggle - it has the most "luck" of my top 10.

4) Do you have a favorite game in the GIPF series? If so, which is it and why?

I was fond of ZÈRTZ once upon a time, but every Gipf series of games I've played has fallen flat for me after a while.

5) If you could only play 1 game with a group of good friends each year, what would it be and why?

Here I Stand, because it would mean my friends and I would be playing a good game together for a long time.

I'm hoping when she's 11, my daughter will be picking games to play with me.

1) Name a game that isn't in the BGG top 300 and isn't a new release that you've recently played and enjoyed.
Pirate's Cove is just outside the top 300 and is a game that is also in my personal top 10. Win or lose this is a favourite for all my friends.

2) As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
An astronaut, a lawyer or an accountant. I eventually became an accountant.

3) Which of your top 10 games is least like the other 9?
Nothing really stands out as being an "out there" selection in my top 10. Probably Time's Up! Title Recall! as it is the only party game.

4) Do you have a favorite game in the GIPF series? If so, which is it and why?
Never played any of the GIPF series. I was really into abstracts when I was younger but really don;t have anyone to play these with now.

5) If you could only play 1 game with a group of good friends each year, what would it be and why?
Catan: Cities & Knights is hands down my favourite game. This is what woudl be played.

6) What game would you choose to play with an 11 year old girl?
Pirate's Cove is one I will come back to. Play this with my nieces and they really enjoy it. Although recently they want to play Catan: Cities & Knights more and more.

7) Which unplayed game that you own are you most anxious to try?
I have many, but right now I would probably say that I am still itching to try BattleLore. Had it for 2 years now and it has never touched my game table.

8) Do you have a dedicated game room?
No, we just use the dining table.

9) How do you transport games to other gaming locations?
I have one of those big Costco reusable bags that I load up with the games I think will most likely be played with the specific group I am playing with. It totally works for me.

10) What is the weirdest gift you've ever received?
Outside of White Elephants I can't think of anythign totally weird. My sister in law once gave me a half used tub of hair paste for Christmas. Half used!!

Mostly I have been playing fairly new releases and games in the top 300 but a few weeks ago I played a game of India Rails. I am always a sucker for crayon rail games

2) As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? A doctor or a marine biologist

3) Which of your top 10 games is least like the other 9?
Cosmic Encounter - an old favorite, yet my current favorites tend to be low luck economic management games

4) Do you have a favorite game in the GIPF series? If so, which is it and why?
Never played one

5) If you could only play 1 game with a group of good friends each year, what would it be and why? Aaaaaaaaah! Noooooo! Agricola... no, Cosmic Encounter..., no Die Macher. Aaaaaaaah!

6) What game would you choose to play with an 11 year old girl?
My 9 year old neice really likes Stone Age.

7) Which unplayed game that you own are you most anxious to try? Senji

8) Do you have a dedicated game room?

Yes. When I bought my house it had a 'formal dining room'. It had no furniture for three years - then I bought a game table and bookcases and it is now the game room.

9) How do you transport games to other gaming locations? Why in the BBOG of course! (Big Bag of Games - an old very large duffel bag. It can hold about 6-8 Agricola to Dominion sized boxes)

10) What is the weirdest gift you've ever received? A decorative wooden box - and I have no idea what is meant to go inside it. It is a very odd shape - really tall (~24 inches) and skinny. And the decorations are pretty ugly - painted on flowers in an antique like pattern.

Mystery of the Abbey is the only game I've played in the last 30 days that is outside the top 300... and I like it!

2) As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A scientist.

3) Which of your top 10 games is least like the other 9?

Chicago Express is the only perfect information game in my top.... anything. I'm usually not a fan of perfect information games.

4) Do you have a favorite game in the GIPF series? If so, which is it and why?

I've actually never played any of them.

5) If you could only play 1 game with a group of good friends each year, what would it be and why?

Acquire... because it's the best game ever.

6) What game would you choose to play with an 11 year old girl?

Sorry! Sliders is my current "with a kid" game.

1) Name a game that isn't in the BGG top 300 and isn't a new release that you've recently played and enjoyed.

We got a giant game of Balderdash (ranked 869) going with our family at Thanksgiving, and it was a ton of fun. My dad is pretty shy and wasn't super enthusiastic about it, but ended up writing many of the funniest definitions and having a great time.

2) As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

An astronaut or a professional athlete.

3) Which of your top 10 games is least like the other 9?

Probably Thirteen. The only traditional card game of the lot, and still one of my favorite games after thousands of plays. I like meeting new people that grew up playing the game (almost exclusively West Coasters, I've noticed), and seeing how their rules differ from my own.

4) Do you have a favorite game in the GIPF series? If so, which is it and why?

I haven't played any of them. I love abstracts though, and I'm interested in their interconnectedness, so I'd like to give them a try.

5) If you could only play 1 game with a group of good friends each year, what would it be and why?

I guess it really depends on the group. The group of friends I'm most likely to only get one game per year in with are my old high school buddies. In that case, I'd have to go with Risk, for old-times sake.

6) What game would you choose to play with an 11 year old girl?

If it's just one-on-one, maybe Pickomino? If I've got a group of 11-year old girls to entertain, I might try and get a game of Werewolf going.

7) Which unplayed game that you own are you most anxious to try?

I am really excited about Dungeon Twister, which has been on my wishlist forever, and which I finally broke down and bought. Unfortunately, my wife isn't too interested. So I'm waiting for the holidays to play with my dad or soon-to-be-(hopefully)-brother-in-law.

8) Do you have a dedicated game room?

Our apartment is a dedicated game room! Actually, my sister's new apartment has a real dedicated game room and I am supremely jealous.

9) How do you transport games to other gaming locations?

We have reusable shopping bags that we load up with games and throw in the back seat of the car.

10) What is the weirdest gift you've ever received?

Hmmm... I can't think of any truly weird gifts, but my mom often gets me T-shirts with double entendres that she doesn't understand. That can be... awkward.

What are you doing!? I don't even know you!
mbmbmbmbmb

1) Name a game that isn't in the BGG top 300 and isn't a new release that you've recently played and enjoyed.

Volta is currently my favorite dexterity game. It is super-quick and silly and usually accompanied by laughing. Great!

2) As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be an astronomer.

3) Which of your top 10 games is least like the other 9?

Again it's Volta. The only dexterity game in the bunch. Unless you count SuperGang.

4) Do you have a favorite game in the GIPF series? If so, which is it and why?

Gipf itself, for two reasons:
a) it is the only one that I have seriously played (tried a few of the others, but only for one game or two)
b) When Gipf was totally new, Schmidt Spiele did a tournament on each day of Essen fair. The winner of each day received a trip to Antwerp (train ticket, hotel, food and participation in a larger Gipf tournament). I was one of the lucky winners, although I had only learned the game a day earlier. Fortunately, that was true for probably all of my opponents. I remember that trip fondly, of course.

5) If you could only play 1 game with a group of good friends each year, what would it be and why?

Probably Tichu - that's what we usually take out when we've had long dry spells.

6) What game would you choose to play with an 11 year old girl?

If I played with an 11 year old, I would let her choose.

7) Which unplayed game that you own are you most anxious to try?

The 3 Commandments

8) Do you have a dedicated game room?

Not really. I have played in many, many locations. Not all of them contained a table or anything.

9) How do you transport games to other gaming locations?

Bicycle and backpack.

10) What is the weirdest gift you've ever received?

A Jesus statue (I am an atheist and the person who gave it to me was a Hindu - but she bought it specially for me). But there are some other things which come close.

10 Days in Asia.

2) As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Baseball player is the first thing that comes to mind.

3) Which of your top 10 games is least like the other 9?
Power Grid.

4) Do you have a favorite game in the GIPF series? If so, which is it and why?
The only GIPF game I've played is TZAAR, so I guess that makes it my favorite game in the series that I've played so far.

5) If you could only play 1 game with a group of good friends each year, what would it be and why?
Does that mean that you only get one game play? In that case, I'd want it to be a longer game. Maybe something like Power Grid.

6) What game would you choose to play with an 11 year old girl?
I enjoy a lot of light games, mostly suitable for that demographic. If I have to pick just one game, I'll say TransAmerica.

7) Which unplayed game that you own are you most anxious to try?
Nothing specific comes to mind. There are a handful of Looney Pyramids I'm interesting in trying.

8) Do you have a dedicated game room?
No. I never game at home, though, so I don't need one.

9) How do you transport games to other gaming locations?
I use one of those big plastic tubs with a folding lid.

10) What is the weirdest gift you've ever received?

I played Checkers with my 7YO niece and I forgot that I actually like that game. A lot.

2) As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I guess I'm still a child (17?) and I want to teach business at a high school.

3) Which of your top 10 games is least like the other 9?
Teta Fuhu is a pen-and-paper game. Kinda different, but still way awesome.

4) Do you have a favorite game in the GIPF series? If so, which is it and why?
I hate most abstract games. I cannot understand them. GIPF is my least favorite family of games.

5) If you could only play 1 game with a group of good friends each year, what would it be and why?
Bohnanza, because it's amazingly fun with the right size of group.

6) What game would you choose to play with an 11 year old girl?
Teta Fuhu again, because it's easy and accessible. Plus, said girl can play this in class when she's bored.

7) Which unplayed game that you own are you most anxious to try?
I play all my games (except those that I get at thrift stores), so I don't have one.

8) Do you have a dedicated game room?
Nope. We use the kitchen or the TV room.

9) How do you transport games to other gaming locations?
I load them in the passenger seat (I drive a really old truck) and hope that I'm not driving anyone else. Then I carry my gigantic stack and wait for the funny looks.

10) What is the weirdest gift you've ever received?
Well, it was my brother's, but my sister made him a basketball jersey out of several patches of quilting fabric. Weird, I tell you.

A cook (chef). Then when I was 10 my mom told me the cook has to take out the sh*t from the chicken and I gave up. I still love cooking.

3) Which of your top 10 games is least like the other 9?
Dixit. A surreal and poetic party game.

9) How do you transport games to other gaming locations?
I usually don't transport them. Now when I go on vacation I pack several games in one box. These boxes are really oversized nowadays.

10) What is the weirdest gift you've ever received?
Maybe a screening in a cinema in the city of Budapest. It was during my bachelor party. We went there, it started rolling...and it was a video we made when I was 18 and we were on holiday with the friends. It was just... weird.

1) Name a game that isn't in the BGG top 300 and isn't a new release that you've recently played and enjoyed.
An old 3M copy of Bazaar

2) As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
An astronaut like Han Solo and Luke Skywalker

3) Which of your top 10 games is least like the other 9?
Sorry! Sliders is the only dexterity game in the current incarnation. It is about time to revise that, though.

4) Do you have a favorite game in the GIPF series? If so, which is it and why?
Wow, that's tough. It is far easier to pick the one I like least (Punct) than the one I like best. It's weird, because Punkt is a connection game, a genre I usually really like. I suppose I would have to pick from Dvonn, Yinsh, or Tzaar.

5) If you could only play 1 game with a group of good friends each year, what would it be and why?
Is this the only game I get to play that year? I would probably pick Category 5 and play until we got tired of being around each other.

6) What game would you choose to play with an 11 year old girl?
Whatever she wanted?

7) Which unplayed game that you own are you most anxious to try?
I would really like to get in a play of Union vs. Central

8) Do you have a dedicated game room?
No. Strangely, we have a room that we call the game room. We never play games in there except very occasionally with the kids and we only store a small fraction of our collection there.

9) How do you transport games to other gaming locations?
By hand -- sometimes in bags and plastic cases.

10) What is the weirdest gift you've ever received?
Not sure I've ever received a weird gift. My mom bought me a suit last year after I told her not to. On top of that, she bought it about three sizes too small, even though she had the correct size. My mom is weird. Does that count?

1) Name a game that isn't in the BGG top 300 and isn't a new release that you've recently played and enjoyed.
Munchkin Cthulhu, 791 on the hit parade.

2) As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

For a long time, I wanted to be an astronaut, right up until I realized how much I hate roller coasters and got an idea of how fast and hard space launch really is.

3) Which of your top 10 games is least like the other 9?
My "Top Ten" is kind of inaccurate at the moment, but of my top rated games, I'm gonna say the most unusual is Hive. It's the only abstract, the rest are highly thematic euro's, often bit heavy like 'Gric, Le Havre, and Arkham Horror.

4) Do you have a favorite game in the GIPF series? If so, which is it and why?
I've only played ZERTZ and GIPF, and of the two, I like ZERTZ better. But I'm luke warm about them at best.

5) If you could only play 1 game with a group of good friends each year, what would it be and why?
Arkham Horror, because if we used all the expansions, it would take most of the year anyway.

6) What game would you choose to play with an 11 year old girl?
Clue, simple enough to grasp, common enough that she'd probably already know it, still fun.

7) Which unplayed game that you own are you most anxious to try?
I got Ticket to Ride: Switzerland from my Secret Santa, and haven't gotten to play it yet.

8) Do you have a dedicated game room?
We have a room designated for it, but it's not ready yet. It's kind of full of boxes still.

9) How do you transport games to other gaming locations?
Big old plastic storage box.

10) What is the weirdest gift you've ever received?
A friend of mine was a big friend of gag gifts. He liked to give a fake present before the real present at birthday parties. He once gave me an India/Bollywood produced documentary about the Titanic.

1) Name a game that isn't in the BGG top 300 and isn't a new release that you've recently played and enjoyed. Solo played The Great Patriotic War recently.

2) As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? One of two things, when I was about 6, according to my mom. Either a vulcanologist - or a mover!

3) Which of your top 10 games is least like the other 9? I dunno. The SHORTEST game on that list is Warriors of God so I'll say that. All either wargames, or pretty heavy "honorary wargames" like Advanced Civilization or The Republic of Rome.

4) Do you have a favorite game in the GIPF series? If so, which is it and why? What is GIPF?

5) If you could only play 1 game with a group of good friends each year, what would it be and why? World in Flames. We'd get through one, maybe two games depending how often we played.

6) What game would you choose to play with an 11 year old girl? Honestly, any game she'd like to try. I let kids pick.

7) Which unplayed game that you own are you most anxious to try? 1914: Twilight in the East. It's a baby monster.

8) Do you have a dedicated game room? Not currently.

9) How do you transport games to other gaming locations? In canvas shopping bags.

10) What is the weirdest gift you've ever received? A little candle when I was about 15 from my kid (7 year old) brother. I think it probably cost 50 cents. I'm pretty sure he picked it himself.

Bonus Question: What question should I ask on my next geeklist? How much would would a woodchuck chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
