From the game page:
Rome, 1655 anno domini. An announcement shocks the whole Christendom pope Innocent X is dead. With lightning speed cardinals travel to Rome, center of religious power and intrigue. Suspense is palpable, when the players in their role as Preferiti -- the most likely candidates to ascend the Holy See -- try to gain as much votes as possible, using bribery, beguilement and tactical calculation. In the end, only the cardinal with both: all the votes money could buy and a proven mastery on the political stage, will be elected pope. One is for sure, if the white smoke rises, it will be declared: "Habemus Papam! We have a pope!"
Content: 120 playing cards, 52 gems, 4 view screens, 1 card base,
1 rule of play, 1 information sheet."

4. Board Game: 7 Wonders [Average Rating:7.96 Overall Rank:12]
Stefano Castelli
Italy

designer
Avatar
mbmbmbmbmb
One of the most discussed new card games at recend gaming events. By Antoine Bauza.

From the game page:
"7 Wonders lasts three ages. In each age, players receive seven cards from a particular deck, choose one of those cards, then pass the remainder to an adjacent player, as in Fairy Tale or a Magic: the Gathering booster draft. Players reveal their cards simultaneously, paying resources if needed or collecting resources or interacting with other players in various ways. (Players have individual boards with special powers on which to organize their cards, and the boards are double-sided as in Bauza's Ghost Stories.) Each player then chooses another card from the deck they were passed, and the process repeats until players have six cards in play from that age. After three ages, the game ends.

In essence 7 Wonders is a card development game along the lines of Race for the Galaxy or Dominion. Some cards have immediate effects, while others provide bonuses or upgrades later in the game. Some cards provide discounts on future purchases. Some provide military strength to overpower your neighbors and others give nothing but victory points. Unlike Magic or Fairy Tale, however, each card is played immediately after being drafted, so you'll know which cards your neighbor is receiving and how his choices might affect what you've already built up. Cards are passed left-right-left over the three ages, so you need to keep an eye on the neighbors in both directions. (BoardgameNews.com)"

After a bit of waiting, at last another interesting card game from Adlung Spiele.

From the game page:
"Antigua in the year 1717: It is rumoured that the wild pirate Black Sam has hidden all the gold he captured when boarding the Whydah on the "islands in the wind." Only two men survived when the ship afterwards ran aground on a reef near Cape Cod. Black Sam took the map with him to his watery grave but perhaps the surviving navigator can help to find the treasure by locating the exact position of the islands. Is Antigua one of them?"

I thought Rio Grande was bringing out Arctic Scavengers along with the HG expansion. They haven't committed to a production date, so it seems parked for the time being.

I assume the Deception expansion is parked in the beyond.

Has this changed; does anyone know anything further?

Interesting sci-fi card-game from Z-Man games.

From the official game page:
"In The Ares Project, 2-4 players are competing to see which of their factions will lead mankind into the future. Each faction has its own deck of cards, buildings, upgrades, attacks, special powers, and a screen behind which a player will play cards. Your opponents do not know what you are building. When a player lays down an attack card, he chooses an opponent, the players drop their screens, and they battle for control of the Frontier, i.e. the center of the table. Whoever controls the Frontier scores points and also has the ability to attack player bases directly. Eliminate all of your opponents to win instantly, or have the most points when the game ends."

Soccer card game.

"Football simulation for 2 to 6 players. The game consists of defense cards, midfield cards, attack cards and action cards. Each move is started by playing a midfield card. The cards have a color code that determines which kinds of cards can be played next (i.e. an attack card (red) can only be played if the previous card contains a red color code). Attack cards also show a number of balls that has to be surpassed by the next player. A player who cannot counter an attack card catches a goal and has to take all the cards from the current stack; the last player to play an attack card before that takes a scoring card. When the card stack is used up, the player with most scoring cards is the winner."

No, it is not a card game about Bruce Springsteen...

From the game page:
"With each card play, you gain more information about the loot, or sanctions, that may be yours for the taking in different American cities. Basing upon this information you send out the members of your gang to those cities -- some are pros, some are wannabes.

Whoever has the most gang members in a city, cashes the loot or undergoes the sanction. When going to Chicago you have no choice but splitting your takings with the boss himself: Al Capone. The further the game progresses, the higher the stakes are getting, especially in Chicago.

The Boss is essentially a card game (but comes with small game board for keeping scores) of deduction, bluffing and a lot of backstabbing."

New storytelling game!

From the game page:
"You sit in The Heroes Return, a tavern famed for its heroic clientèle. You're not a hero, but you talk a good game. You and your friends are holding court, regaling the crowds with your tales of derring-do. Can you fight your way through a drunken haze to concoct the best boast? The most believable? Or at least ones that are funny? Or will you be called out as the liar you are?

In Braggart, each round players play cards from their hand which each contain a part of their story to combine them into a compelling tale. Stories are by turns hilarious or awe-inspiring and other players can accept them or accuse them of lying, downgrading their boast into something much less impressive (though usually much funnier!)."

Powerful, majestic, brilliant, conniving, & greedy, they live in a highly structured society centered around age. There are five different draconic races, each of a different color: red, blue, yellow, green and purple; and one all powerful prismatic Queen, the mother of all races. Each of the draconic races is subdivided into three basic age groups: drakes being the youngest, dragons being middle age, and wyrms being the oldest of all. The older the beast, the more powerful and greedy it becomes. In fact, the oldest of each race, called a Great Wyrm, is so consumed by its greed that its lust for treasure becomes its greatest weakness. Of all dragon kind they alone are willing to risk all to potentially increase their hoard size. This often leads to their downfall.

The object in this trick-taking card game is to be the player with the most points (indicating draconic power) at the end of six hands (referred to as cycles). You receive points by accurately predicting the number of tricks (referred to as gatherings) you will take and also by taking special card combinations. You want to avoid taking cards with negative points values."
