This list is for games that have been published more than once, and every time, the new publisher's edition had important differences from all previous editions.

Some details: I do not count graphic layout as significant, nor different languages. I do not count simultaneous publishers in different countries -- in such cases it's typical for the editions to be essentially the same. I am counting different publishers over time: one company ceases publication, and another picks it up -- but it's not quite the same game. There are at least a few significant differences in the rules or the components.

If you add an item, please list the different publishers. For extra credit, discuss some of the differences. Edit: I don't expect a thesis, or even pictures. Just say something about changes that happened, so those who are ignorant have at least a hint about it.

This is one of two sister Geeklists, the other being Games with multiple publishers, who always kept them the same.

This is the best example I can think of. First published by Eon, it has been followed by:

West End Games

Mayfair Games

Avalon Hill (Hasbro)

and most recently,
Fantasy Flight Games

Each version has its differences: most obviously in the mix of alien powers, and in which of the original expansion components were included (e.g. Flares), but there are also occasional changes to rules (e.g. whether Flares are discarded after use).

I own the original version by Chaosium:

but not the massively popular remake by Fantasy Flight Games. So, I cannot comment on the changes, except that the latter one has a huge number of expansions. (It also has several publishers, but I reckon that they are for foreign editions.)

Another game I don't own; but I understand that the Fantasy Flight version is substantially different from the original one from Games Workshop Ltd.:

This is unusual in that the original game was 2-4 player.

I recently thrifted the same basic game but in a 2-player only format.

This reprinting of Titan: The Arena (Avalon Hill) does change several things:
- monster names
- several monster powers
- how the first player is determined
- how the game ends
- combat cards being discarded after being revealed

but for the most part, it is the same game. See this thread for more details.
