The contest is CLOSED. Find the answers and results here: Graph Theory II: RESULTS.

It's back! If you enjoyed the first "Graph Theory: CONTEST for Geekgold," here's your chance for more of the same. If you missed the first one, I hope you enjoy this go-round. If you didn't enjoy the first contest, you probably won't enjoy this one either, but, hey, there's a bunch of other contests out there. I'm sure you can find something you like .

, I'm able to give you 50% more graphs to puzzle over. Please throw some tips their way. Most of these are reworked game boards, like last time, but two of them represent some other aspect of game play.

All this time you may have thought some of your favorite boardgames were played on maps. In reality most of those game boards are actually graphs. Below I have listed fifteen games reduced to simple graph representations (I've stripped away their "pasted-on themes", if you like). The reworked boards contain most of the information you would need to play the game, though we've left off some things which would be dead give-aways (such as city names). We have, however, left in quite a few hints to identity of the game in question. Your job is to identify the fifteen games.

Rules:
1. Send me a geekmail with a numbered list of the fifteen games (or as many as you can figure out). The entry deadline is 11:00am CDT, April 26, 2010.
2. If you wish to change your answers before the deadline, you may send in a new entry. Please put UPDATE in the subject line.
3. Please do not post answers, hints, or spoilers.
4. If you'd like to ask clarifying questions, or you believe I have made a mistake in one of the graphs, please ask via geekmail. I will either respond privately, post a correction or clarification, or ignore your query, as appropriate.
5. The ten entries with the most correct answers will receive prizes. Ties will be broken by random drawing.
6. Though unlikely, it is possible that one or more of the graphs below corresponds to more than one game. I will examine answers that don't match my intended answers, and give credit if this turns out to be the case. In any event, I am the final and sole judge of what constitutes a correct answer.

Prizes:
First place: 25bag
Second place: 20bag
Third place: 15bag
Fourth place: 12bag
Fifth place: 8bag
Sixth place: 6bag
Seventh place: 5bag
Eight place: 4bag
Ninth place: 3bag
Tenth place: 2bag

If I receive more than ten entries with all fifteen answers correct, each additional perfect entry will receive 1.

Additionally, I will draw a name from the correct respondents for each item to receive 1.

Two ways to win!
In addition to the main contest describe above, you can also win by betting for the graph you believe will receive the fewest correct answers. Do so by tipping the item for that graph. Those tipping the item(s) receiving the fewest correct answers will split all the tips to items. (The tips will be split in proportion to the bets, so a 10gg bet will get ten times as much as a 1gg bet.) You may bet on as many items as you wish, but only tips received before 11:00am CDT, April 26, 2010 will be counted. In the unlikely event that no one tips the item with the fewest correct answers, I win all the tips to other items. (If two or more items tie for the fewest correct answers, all bets for those items split the pot.)

Ahhh this one is driving me nuts. I really feel like I should know this but I can't dredge it up. When the answer is revealed I'm either going to kick myself for not getting it or wonder why I thought that I should know it in the first place.

It looks like there might be an error in this graph. One of the black dots is in the wrong circle. Maybe two of them.

I double-checked everything point-by-point. I think the black dots look fine, but I did find a missing connector -- perhaps that was throwing you off. I sent Laurence a corrected version for posting. If you want to send me a geekmail we can discuss further.

Thanks,
Erik

If this is what I think it is, it's missing at least one arc. The red-centred yellow node needs a link to the white-centred orange node to its left.

As far as I can see, this very contest wasn't included in that contest subscription thread, though.

Or am I just blind and not seeing it?

I am blind too, or it isn't there.

It is frustrating when the subscription feature leads me to one of these contests, since obviously you don't link famous games until you reveal answers.
