This is the traditional weekly thrift and bargain finds list.
These lists may start empty but as always: add your items.
Put in what you consider a bargain, tell us how much you paid and the place you got it from. Bargains can be thrift store finds or any second-hand purchases or discounted boardgames bought new. Don't forget to add your encounters with the Thrift Store Irritant Squad™ and any other embellishments in order to make it even more interesting.
The Weekly Thrift List Wayback Machine The Grand Vizier is maintaining a list of all the weekly thrift lists through time, and will be adding stats and interesting tidbits for each week. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/48522

Fear the Atomic Skull-Bat! (or don't. It's up to you...)
Picked this up for a couple bucks at a local thrift. It is mostly complete and I WILL be trading/selling this one. PM me if you are interested and I can give you a much more detailed accounting of the game's condition.
Hello old friend. Missing all the dice except the green one, missing the zinc football. Dang. Oh, well looks like all the mini's are there. I love this game. Intersting to find a heroscape card of a dungeon door. Maybe playing some variant? Oh well, $2.75 at Idaho Youth Ranch.
...and the find of the past couple months... for $1.99 at VV
The hero pad is largely unused and everything appears to be there, so far. This particular copy was bought at ToysRUs on 8/2/92 for $29.99 on a VISA card with the numbers.... Yes, the receipt really was in the box and the copy of the CC swipe is stapled to it. Amazing. Move over, Mr Winkles. Geoffrey is representing in the house today.
Note: complete and possibly unplayed. Only 5 character sheet pulled off and 4 got basic stats written in. Someone wrote the character stats on the DM screen in pencil.
As a family we went out to various garage sales with intent to find baby clothes and a dresser. What I found in St. Cloud, MN was astounding. There was a game store here that recently went out of business. The owner was (I think) a compulsive game purchaser and apparently bought whatever he found at thrift stores and garage sales. The store, named Play It, had thousands upon thousands of games, a lot of which was absolute crap.
Anywho, Play It went out of business and some guy bought all of the inventory. I happened upon his garage sale where he was selling games that had been opened. He is selling a lot of the games online as well, apparently.
The best find was a copy of Lord of the Rings for $8.
1997 Pressman edition as pictured. Tiles are still sealed in their original bag and the racks are wrapped in their original plastic sleeve (like the "sanitized for your protection" toilet seats in old motels).
1996 Parker Brothers "Bulldog Dozer" edition as pictured. Missing the instructions, but according to the inventory on the box everything else is there. With a new battery, the dozer works! Now to find the rules. Unfortunately, one side of the box top is missing.
EDIT: Rules found. Now I know it's missing the flag base and top floor (for the flag base). It's still great fun for the kids.
NO! WAIT! Hold onto those rotten tomatoes until I can explain this post! Actually my wife found this at GW for $1.99, and bought it (with my permission) for our 7-year-old daughter, who loves horses. I have long thought that many "thrift finds" just clutter up the list. Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, most party games, and any variant of Monopoly (among others). "The Thrift List should be limited to DECENT (fun, rare, valuable, or unusual) finds only!" was my cry of disdain. But alas, now I am guilty of the infraction which I formerly despised. Yet there is a reason - my copy came without rules. Any help would be appreciated. But please don't thumb, I am ashamed and humbled enough already...
