This is the traditional weekly thrift and bargain finds list.
These lists may start empty but as always: add your items.
Put in what you consider a bargain, tell us how much you paid and the place you got it from. Bargains can be thrift store finds or any second-hand purchases or discounted boardgames bought new. Don't forget to add your encounters with the Thrift Store Irritant Squad™ and any other embellishments in order to make it even more interesting.
The Weekly Thrift List Wayback Machine The Grand Vizier is maintaining a list of all the weekly thrift lists through time, and will be adding stats and interesting tidbits for each week. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/48522
Our GeekGuild: The Ancient and Loyal Order of Thrifters. Enter the halls of thriftdom at your own risk. Do mind the stacks of prized games. Don't mention the musty smell and try not to sneeze. Finally found a Jenga that looks almost unplayed with, for $1.81 at Value Village so I picked it up for the collection. Between this, Bottle Topps, Rikado, Coco the Rocking Clown, Zimbbos and Zitternix, I probably don't need any more dexterity games!
And sadly, my memory failed me here. For some reason, I remembered this as being a surprisingly highly ranked game, despite the unlikely theme. Of course, it's the exact opposite. The bits are in pristine condition so I'm debating what to do. Do I want to inflict this on someone else and re-thrift it (or put it into the white elephant Christmas game) or do I just scavenge the bits and toss the rest? $2.42 at Value Village.
This is my first one of these. Do these things ever come with the dough in good condition?
Also, I'm estimating the price, since I my receipt for 4 games only lists two items @ $1.21 each. I tried to point out other prices to the checker, but she said something completely unintelligible to explain. I can't argue with that.
For those in St. Louis, this is the new St. Peters location of that thrift store on Olive. Apparently there are 50% off coupons published somewhere. I know this because the checker gave me one for my next visit (good until 8/15/10!).
Yeah, I know, it's a CSI game, but I played CSI: Crime Scene Investigation Boardgame a couple of weeks ago and it was an OK diversion. Replayability with these games is a value rapidly approaching zero, so I won't pay a lot, but I will spend $3.19 at VV for 8 more cases. The game was opened but the bits were still bagged and unpunched. There was also an in-shrink booster pack there, but it was the same price for only 3 more cases so I left it.
