This is the traditional weekly thrift and bargain finds list.
These lists may start empty but as always: add your items.
Put in what you consider a bargain, tell us how much you paid and the place you got it from. Bargains can be thrift store finds or any second-hand purchases or discounted boardgames bought new. Don't forget to add your encounters with the Thrift Store Irritant Squad™ and any other embellishments in order to make it even more interesting.
The Weekly Thrift List Wayback Machine The Grand Vizier is maintaining a list of all the weekly thrift lists through time, and will be adding stats and interesting tidbits for each week. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/48522

I almost gave up for the week when I spotted this 1st edition at GWO. Unfortunately, it had been thrown to the wind during a feeding frenzy. I had to sift through no fewer than 4 bins to find the pieces. Much to my surprise, I found everything but 2 of the clips (although I don't know exactly how much money there should be - but it's a big stack)!
The cashier was very kind and only charged me for 2 pounds even though the scale showed 3 pounds. 79 cents per pound at Games Wasted Often.
This is to "replace" the one I let get away at the High Street GW.
I just thrifted a ludicrous copy of the base game for Equate last week, and came really close to ordering this advanced tile set online, but didn't. This was a much better deal at $3.99, about 1/2 off retail. Ludicrous, at the Coralville Stuff.
3rd edition for $2 at the Murray DI. Nice condition but it has actually been played.
Can I rant now? I just had to click through 74 pages of pictures to find the picture of this edition. That is even after I filtered for "game" pictures. The gallery for this game has really gotten out of hand. I had a feeling it would be near the end but can I skip to the last page? no. (is this different with firefox?) Does there really need to be pictures of parts from Simply Catan in the Settlers of Catan gallery? Does there really need to be multiple pictures of each individual tile? Does there really need to be multiple pictures of games parts in random piles? Does each boat piece from Seafarers really need it's own picture in the base game's gallery? Why is this making me grumpy? Ok I'll stop. rant over.
Edit: Just discovered that if I select "Hot", this picture is one of the first options. I feel better now. Disregard my rant.
Had a pretty good day today. First, at lunchtime, found this at my GW. It looks relatively complete, we shall see, although it does have some "staining" of something on the box and counters. Any ideas about how to get whatever it is off without destroying them? Isn't there a geeklist for that somewhere, with split corners and the like?
Yes, its a Monopoly game for Casey's General Store. $3.99 Savers, looks like its never been played. And there actually looks to be a market for this. If not, it has some nice pewter pieces, and it needs many more photos. Edit: Casey's General Store is a chain of convenience stores, I don't think they are nationwide so I'll add that tidbit if you aren't familiar with them.
