For those of you who are new to the Secret Santa List:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order.

In years past this list has been heavily monitored as the gifting season approaches and I am sure the same will hold true this year.

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

To see Simon Hunt's statistical breakdown of previous years' Secret Santa:

UPDATE New list: Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2010

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2009

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2008

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2007

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2006

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

Got home last night to find a package from the post office sitting there. I figured it was from Santa. Before I opened the package I told myself if it was wrapped I would save it til X-mas. Luckily it wasn't wrapped because I really want to play this asap.

Also received a set of dice from Crazy Squirrel Games and a nice x-mas card!

Thanks so much Secret Santa!

Returning home after having a great time at BGG Con 2010, I was surprised to find a decent sized box from an online retailer. I had some hints Geekmailed to me from my Secret Santa about expecting something very soon so I was fairly certain about the origin of the box but I had to check to be sure.

Inside the box were the following games:

Talisman (fourth edition): The Highland Expansion

At the Gates of Loyang

Founding Fathers

Excellent choice of games!

Thank you, Secret Santa!
I'm very thankful for the games and look forward to playing them soon!

T.

UPDATE!!!

So, I had received another box back in late December with instructions to open one package, and wait on the other until Christmas. I followed said instructions and...

Played four games with friends - I once again own my most played and everyone, if you've never played Jungle Speed... man, best starter/closer game EVER!

And then, a few weeks later, got a change to open up the last parcel...

Great game! Haven't had a chance to play my brand spanking new copy yet, but it's first up the next time I get a chance to sit down and game.

So, Secret Santa, a huge THANK YOU!!! You are fantastic, and really made my holidays

(The Hobby Game book has been read and re-read; already getting dog-eared... hehehe)

Patrick

***

I arrived at work this morning and was handed a package at reception... my first thought was that it was merely some documents sent in from one of our remote fulfilment centres, but no! Santa had struck!

There was no note on the box about waiting until The Big Day, so I (shamefully and with much glee!) popped the tape and opened... to reveal a copy of Hobby Games: The 100 Best!

The perfect coffee table book

Included was the following note: "Ho ho! Here is one X-mas gift for the one who longs to know what the future (and history) holds. //BGGSSanta"

I'm not entirely sure what to make of that... but it's got me dreadfully curious! Thanks, Santa!

I've already read about a dozen entries... and, awesomely, one of my staff saw it on my desk, inquired about it -- then about Cranium, then about Settlers of Catan, both of which she'd played and loved...

... which prompted me to start really talking about games. I showed her boardgamegeek, talked about my regular gaming escapades, and the new boardgame cafe that opened up in Toronto that I've been frequenting (Snakes & Lattes). She lit up -- best way to describe it -- and now wants to be introduced to the hobby. Sweet! So, double-thanks, Santa!

While I was having lunch someone called the door, and it was strange because I never have visitors at those hours. Then a man with a package... wow, my secret santa!!!!!!!! I didn't expect it so early.

I was so happy that I couldn't wait until Christmas, shaked it and I heared some noisy like plastic tokens... miniatures?? So opened the package and inside it was Dungeon Twister 2: Prison. Now I can play DT 1 and this with other 3 people.

THANKS, SANTA!

Holy Crap! I don't know how I managed to generate enough karma for this gift, but Santa went all out!

I received word last week that a package was on its way and I would be very pleased with the games within. Wait a sec. "Games"? Plural? Yes!

I was also informed that Santas identity was within the package, but I was to eliminate the slip sight unseen. I honored that wish. Thankfully, Santa didn't request I wait until Christmas because I get impaitient.

So it was the cruel, cruel UPS man who made me wait. Usually, he delivers to my office by noon, but didn't show up today until 4:45. No taunt is more soul crushing than a refreshed package tracking page that still says "In Transit".

When my bounty finally arrived, two expansions for Small World appeared on top:

That could only mean a fresh copy of Small World was underneath.

But that wasn't all. The pluralized "games" proved to be true when I found an off-menu game lurking at the bottom of the box!

Awesome! This game wasn't even on my radar at all, but based on the description and a quick GeekBuddy Analysis (throw dice and fight like pirates?), I'm looking forward to breaking it out. Bring on the rum!

So yeah, this has certainly brightened my holiday season (and it's not even Thanksgiving yet!), especially after the busiest week of the year for me here at work. Thanks Santa!

(Edited for typos. Plus, should I have gone with "grog" or "rum" at the end there?)

Edit 22-12-10: Thanks for the Christmas Card, Santa. Very funny and it arrived with perfect timing for Christmas itself. I hope you're enjoying the snow in Mishawaka, I can see your house on Google Earth!!

This is a place holder for my game which Rowlf (Head Elf at Santa Enterprises, inc.) assures me will arrive tomorrow just in time for Turkey Day.

Turkey Day!? Now I have to see if I can hold out until Christmas...

BE STRONG

I was strong. Very strong. Superhuman strong.

For exactly 2 days. I'd like to say the dog tore into it. Or that I mistook it for one of the other Christmas packages. But no, I have no one to blame but myself (and my Secret Santa, he told me I could, honest he did!!!)

But the glory of opening that big box sitting in the living room and finding
on the top of the box was unparalleled. I've been trying to trade for this game for some time now and have been unsuccessful at it. So to get it for the 2010 Secret Santa is fantastic. The only game I listed as a 1 Must Have in the wishlist.

But did Santa stop there? Oh no. Down beneath that in the packaging, Santa went rummaging through my wishlist and found another gem. A fantastic 2 player card game you might know...
I played this last night for the first time with my boys and I have to say it's going right to the top of my favorite game list. Thanks so much Santa.

Well that's it. That's an awesome gift, two fantastic games I've been looking forward to. Time to throw out the box and... Hello what's this? This cardboard box is way too heavy to be just packing peanuts. What's down in there. A large rectangular, fairly flat...
Great Googly Moogly!
That's

So awesome becomes astronomical in one fell swoop. And to think I almost threw out the box with the last game in it!!! laugh

Thank You So Much Secret Santa

What a Christmas and it's not even here yet!

Woot woot! Straight from the top of my wishlist, not only did I get The Gathering Storm, but also Race for the Galaxy: Rebel vs Imperium and Race for the Galaxy: The Brink of War!

My wife and I are huge Race for the Galaxy fans since playing it earlier this year. And though we've also become thoroughly hooked on Keldon's AI, we've had a policy of not playing with the expansions until we actually owned physical copies. And now we do! And before Thanksgiving, at that!

Thanks a million, Santeee! I anticipate countless hours of joy from your generous gift!

(and I'm also stumped as to your identity, though I'm mighty curious!)

Update: Well, my willpower finally broke down and I opened up my Secret Santa gifts the day after Thanksgiving. I couldn't help myself! Plus, the cat was taunting me...

Anyway, Santa was great this year. Despite the somewhat ominous messages, Apparently we were good this year since he sent us a copy of Macao and Campaign Manager 2008. Macao was at the top of our wishlist and we're excited about Campaign Manager as well. We'll have to try them out!

Plus, this finally gave us the impulse to go buy some actual game shelves rather than hiding them away in a set of drawers. We went to Ikea on Black Friday and it turned out to be the best day to go---there was virtually no one there so we were able to breeze through in record time. We spent the day setting up and cleaning the room, but now we have our very own gaming shelves!

===

Yesterday we came home from work to find a surprise at our door. It looked like our Secret Santa had struck! I couldn't help myself so I tore open the box only to find two very nicely wrapped gifts with the notes:

"Merry Christmas Dennis! Hopefully this game won't Monopolize all of your time. -SS"
"Merry Christmas Dennis! May you enjoy this game and similarly Trivial endeavors this season! -SS"

Since they were so nicely wrapped, my wife forbid me from unwrapping the gifts until Christmas. I'm not sure if I can last that long...maybe after Thanksgiving (sorry Santa!) On the other hand, it was a good excuse to get the little Christmas tree up early.

Thank you Secret Santa! I'll update this once I inevitably succumb and open them up!

Got home from a business trip to Chicago and a package is waiting in the driveway (probably for a day or two, good thing we live in a good neighborhood!)

Went to pick it up, and there in the mail is another small package. Neither has a return address I recognize.

Next day I decided to open the small envelope. A wrapped present! "Do not open until Christmas" it says. Okay, I guess I can live with that, but what is the big box then?

Opened the big box, and it is looking like Santa has been very generous to me!

All are marked to wait for Christmas, so I'll respect Santa's wishes. My wife is already nervous about duplicates on Christmas day, so watch this space for possible trades!!

Thank you Santa!!

Edit:

So Santa sent me another note indicating he wasn't done yet! What have I done to deserve all this?! (Nothing, but they say it is better to be lucky than good, maybe that applies to Santa as well). In any case, he indicated that one more gift was coming, unwrapped.

It's been a busy week, so last night I opened a package that I believe came the day before. It appeared booklet sized from an ebay vendor. I've been doing some buying off e-bay recently but didn't remember purchasing:

One of the must have items from my RPG Geek wishlist. Could this be the mysterious extra gift Santa mentioned? Only one way to find out..

Edit Again:

So it was from my BGG Secret Santa! Who knew that he also knew the ways of the RPGG wishlist? Santa also gave me permission to open my gifts a bit before Christmas, so I availed myself of that opportunity when our good friend (and clever Secret Santa himself) Bob was over for gaming. The first game, Through the Ages is now this list's entry. Without further ado, that wrapping paper also contained:

Cosmic Eidex - Never played, but looking forward to trying it.

Oasis - An excellent game that had somewhat fallen off the radar for me.

Kontor - Another incredible and thought provoking game that you just don't hear much about. AND, the 3&4 Player Expansion for it!

Twilight: 2000 - Another hint that our goodly Santa knows the ways of the Role Playing Game as well. I have to admit our first reaction on this one was to spend a good few minutes laughing at the late eighties action hair on the cover pic.

Siena - I have a particular friend who has come this .. close to picking up the game a couple times before. I can't wait to give it a spin with him.

Taj Mahal - And the last box I unwrapped was this absolute GEM of a game from Reiner Knizia. I'm floored.

Thank you Santa! And Merry Christmas to All!

Well, it was a couple days ago that I first heard from Santa. I was pretty excited that Santa was on the ball this year, but I had no idea how efficient he could be. After receiving a geekmail earlier today where Santa mentioned a package would be coming "any day now" I was ecstatic.

And, lo and behold, "any day now" was today! Sure enough there was a large package from the elves at Thoughthammer waiting for me at the apartment office. Inside were 3 lovely wrapped gifts of varying sizes. Now you might be wondering, "Ben were you a bad boy and opened your gifts early?" Well, I didn't mean to be, but I just happened to see the inventory slip that was in the box that detailed the contents. Since most of the surprise was ruined anyways, I figured Santa wouldn't mind me opening the packages so I could potentially play them on Thanksgiving weekend!

And so, here's what Santa got me:

This is pure awesome. I've heard tons of good things about Fresco from podcasts I listen to, geekbuddies I trust, and even my brother. It's one of the 2 nominees for Family Game of the Year that I haven't tried, so I absolutely needed to play it. You rock Santa!

Archaeology: The Card Game has probably lingered on my wishlist as long as any game. I had been hearing about this fun little card game on the Dice Tower, and I knew it would be perfect for my family. but I never quite pulled the trigger on a purchase. But, thanks to Santa, I don't have to worry about it anymore! You totally rock Santa!

2 years ago, the first time my buddy Andy (aka Grimwold) visited Michigan, he brought It's Alive! with him and taught it to me. From that moment on it has been on my must-own list. For whatever reason, games that I have never tried took precedence in my purchases. I have no idea what was holding me back, but now Santa has filled that Frankenstein-sized hole in my collection. Have I mentioned yet that you rock Santa?!

I am so grateful and excited. Santa really spoiled me, and I'm so pumped to start playing these games ASAP! Secret Santa is the greatest.

So, I came home tonight to find a package from the wonderful folks at Boards & Bits. My SS had informed me of incoming mail from the North Pole, so I was expecting it. Santa even told me it was OK to open it early. I am normally morally opposed to this ... but the box was really big. And, we're leaving for a Thanksgiving trip tomorrow, and we don't have anything new to play. And, the tree isn't up yet, so where would we put the gifts? So, we can make the exception this one time, right?

Wow, wow, wowie wow! What a thoughtful Secret Santa. I can really tell that he took the time to read some of my posts on the Geek and I'm not sure I could have put together a better order myself. Not only that, but amazingly generous! I not only got Dungeonquest for myself, but he must have gone through my recorded plays and noticed that it's often kid games because he included:

Coloretto

and:

Shear Panic

and:

Hey, That's My Fish!

So, now I've got two girls (10 and 6) jumping up and down in the living room.

My son walks in and sees DungeonQuest and says "Awesome! Isn't this the game we saw at GenCon?", and now he's geeked too. My wife wanders in and wants to know what all the commotion is about. She's not much of a gamer, but she says she'll play the penguin game, because she loves penguins.

Wow! What awesomeness and generosity! I had some good plans for my recipient, but I'm going to have to turn it up to 11.

Thanks!!!

My wife met me at work to pick up our son from preschool and told me I had "something" arrive today. She handed me a box from Amazon that the UPS driver dropped off on her way out of the house. Thinking it might be something I ordered, I popped open the box to find my BGG Secret Santa had sent me Puerto Rico!!! It was my top choice on my wishlist and a perfect game for the board game club I run for my high school students. I brought the game in and shared with those students of mine who are also in the game club and they were quite excited to play it after thanksgiving break. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Secret Santa!!!!!

UPDATE: Came back from thanksgiving holiday to find another Amazon box waiting with the following inside:

A favorite of my secret santa and one that I am sure my students will enjoy as well.

AND

which is perfect as Ticket to Ride is a top favorite of my group as well as popular with my students in all of my classes. If they finish early, they love to grab Ticket to Ride and play for 20 minutes. It looks like this 1910 set will be easier for them to do a quick game if we follow the Big Cities Only option.

Secret Santa, we at the Clarkston High School board gamers thank you for your generosity!

I was about to go out tonight when UPS knocked on my door. I had a good feeling that is was from my Secret Santa since I was informed it was on the way. My son and I opened the package and there were two red presents inside. My SS had already informed me that he/she was not the mean type of Santa and I didn't have to wait to open my presents so I didn't. I couldn't believe how awesome my secret santa was when I opened Cyclades and Cuba!

Two completely awesome games that I can't wait to play with my brothers over Thanksgiving laugh

Thanks Secret Santa!
You are definitely not the mean kind of Santa but you are the extremely generous kind!

My Secret Santa contacted me last week to inform me my present would arrive on Wednesday. To my surprise it arrived today at work.

The box from CSI was quite large so I was overjoyed that I had gotten two games. The first one I pulled out was Through the Ages: A Story of Civilization. I had put this on my wishlist earlier this summer after reading the fantastic Review by

This past weekend I started reading the manual and playing online at [geekurl=http://www.boardgaming-online.com/]BGO[/geekurl]. In fact, I was planning on purchasing the game tonight. So, game #1 is awesome and just what I wanted.

Next, I pulled out...

that put this game on my radar. The review also introduced me to the designer, Stefan Feld. I purchased another of his games, The Speicherstadt, and have probably played close to 50 games.

Man, I have the best Secret Santa. I grabbed my phone and called up my girlfriend to give her the good news. After talking to her I went back to my cube and got back to work. A couple of hours later I saw the box full of packing peanuts and decided to dispose of them and recycle the box. I reached into the box to pull out the peanuts and, to my surprise, found...

Kingsburg

laugh Now I really have the best Secret Santa. Kingsburg wasn't even on my wishlist (it should have been) but I got it anyway.

My Secret Santa must be psychic because I could not have wished for better games.

Thanks Santa thumbsup

Wow. Just....wow. My Secret Santa was AWESOME. A couple of funny geekmails, he sent me a tracking number to let me know when my gift shipped, and get this--not one but two packages. I don't know what's in package number two yet, but I can't believe how generous Santa has been so far. In addition to Chinatown, I got Dominion: Alchemy AND the Big Box Expansion for Galaxy Trucker. I'm beyond thrilled. Thanks Santa!

P.S. I promise I'll update when I get the second package, too.

Edit: Did I mention "Wow?" So the second package came. Dominion: Prosperity AND Galaxy Trucker as well. I'm sorry, everyone else. I have the best Secret Santa EVAR.

I got my secret Santa box a few days ago and left it closed as I went to class to teach and to a different class for work. Then last night I had a few friends coming over to play some games. In any case after a vote we decided to open the box just to create more room. Inside was three wrapped presents (in awesome paper I might add). I decided at that point that I would open one so that we could enjoy it right then and that the other two would wait until Christmas. The game I ripped into like a madman was Steam. I was very excited the first game I ever played when getting into board games was a copy of Rail Barrons a friend had in College. I remeber nothing of that game only of the desire I had to play games that were not boring.

Santa I really appreciate this game and the others which I will post about here once I open them. Thank you so much.

After Finishing my Grad School this week I decided Santa Wouldn't Mind if I craked another gift open so I did and what did I find inside but
Wasabi!

Awsome I got a few plays of this in thanks for this Santa it Rocks.

Last night when I got home from work, I got a note in the mail that there was a package waiting for me at the post office that was too big to fit in the mailbox (don't know why they didn't leave it at the front door, but that is another tale). Since my wonderful secret santa had said to keep an eye out for an incoming gift, I could only assume this was it! Looking at my watch, it was 4:30, post office closes at 5. "Call of Duty can wait!" I said, and rushed to the post office.

When I got there, I was handed a fairly large box from Amazon. I got home and, making the assumption that the gift would be wrapped, I tore into the box, and this is what I found:

(CD is there for sizing purposes)

Now, I have the most amazing Secret Santa. Not only has she been wonderful about communicating with me and stalking me, she also said that she would be ok with me opening my gift on Dec 6th for St. Nicolas' Day! (Apparently this is a day celebrated in her country, which may or may not be Latvia). So, I will wait until the morning of December 6th, which will be a struggle.

I also wanted to make a little side comment. This is my first year in secret santa. I am in this one and the wargame one. I haven't heard a peep from my wargame santa, but this secret santa has contacted me on several occasions with stories, hints, and just general kindnesses. There has been some debate as to whether this should be expected. My answer is that I don't think it should be expected, but the e-mails from her have been like receiving a small gift every day or so above and beyond the large gift that is expected when registering. It has really enhanced the experience for me, and she is why I will join up again next year. I have nothing against my wargame secret santa. I don't expect anything from them except for a gift, and I will be thankful when I receive it, I have just really enjoyed the experience that an active secret santa brings.

Update:
Dec 6th has finally arrived! Opened this up before coming into work this morning, and found a game that I am really excited about! My secret santa definitely did their homework, because this game is perfect for me. Thank you, thank you, thank you Santa! Gonna see if I can get my wife to play this with me tonight. I'll let you know how it goes.

One more Update:
Got another message from Santa saying that she would be sending me one additional gift. An item that very few (if any) people in the US have! Yesterday, I got an envelope from Poland with this inside:

Zombiaki 2: Atak na Moskwę (the enlish language version, of course)

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get it on the table yet, but read through the instructions, and can't wait to play! My Santa is the greatest! I also got a return address, so I am working on trying to find my Santa. I think I'm close.

Also thank you very much for much for Space Hulk: Death Angel – The Card Game.

My Dearest Nikolaus SecretSanta,

Have anyone told you that you are a genius? U have brightened up our lives lately with all your taunts, quizzes, photos of your hometown & warehouse and also the Facebook account which you had created with Santa photo and profile.

Received two presents yesterday. We tried to guess what's inside but the big present seemed very heavy so it couldn't be Dominion: Prosperity or Ubongo. Upon unwrapping, it's Race for the Galaxy: The Brink of War and also a big surprise of Dungeon Lords.

We are very excited and elated with Dungeon Lords and The Brink of War since my DT Santa have hinted that he might be giving me the first two expansions. I had changed my Wishlist rating for The Brink of War from 2 to 4 cos DT Santa said that it was't any good if we have never played it before so never expect Santa to buy this for us even after changing the wishlist rating. It was really a pleasant surprise! Thanks very much.

Once again, thanks very much, Santa for these two wonderful game and expansion! We can never thank you enough. By the way Santa, we are putting together a Christmas Stocking for u and also your Mrs Santa. Can you Facebook me your home address please?

May you hear from your Secret Santa soon and may he or she be just as generous!

Wishing u and your family a Wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Thank you for making our SS 2010 experience an extra special one.

P/S - Santa also hinted of sending something from his hometown with a little surprise if I continue to be good. What a wonderful Santa he is. Stay tuned and will update this post.
