For those of you who are new to the Secret Santa List:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order.

In years past this list has been heavily monitored as the gifting season approaches and I am sure the same will hold true this year.

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

To see Simon Hunt's statistical breakdown of previous years' Secret Santa:

UPDATE New list: Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2010

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2009

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2008

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2007

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2006

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

This Friday, I got over exited... coming back from work I found a note telling me that "Patrick my mailman tried to drop a parcel at my place, but as I wasn't there I could go to the post office to collect it..." ON MONDAY! What? I had to wait for 3 whole days before maybe being able to make it on time to the post office (they close at 5pm... I finish my job at 5 pm... 30 km away from there...) so I actually spent my whole weekend complaining about it, ok mostly to annoy my girlfriend that was my revenge as she wanted to go shopping… I came along and complained…

So on Monday I came at work at 7:30 am to be able to get out of there soon enough… I made it and received from the post office a tiny envelope containing some coupons from a store… Damn! It wasn't it… disappointed I came back home and found on my front porch a fairly well beaten box from the UK (it had a return address but I didn't look at it, I don't want to ruin my SS cover…) I opened it and found 3 nicely wrapped packages… I resisted the temptation of opening them for a whole 3 minutes (actually the time it took me to undress and put my sleepers on) and opened them… I'm so strong minded it's impressive…)

And I found Jaipur, that I had the opportunity to try out in Essen 2009 and which was highly ranked in my wishlist.

Also there was Glory to Rome

That I certainly would enjoy as I'm a big RFTG fan… and on top of it all a guide to Belgian beer… and I love Belgian beer… I know already a lot of them (hey, I'm a Belgian) but I'm pretty sure that I'll found some unknown ones in there…

Soooo: Thanks a lot Secret Santa! I wish you a very merry season! Once again you made it special! Well, gotta go read GtR rules… I'm really curious about that one!

edit: trying to put GtR image but failed... I'm definetly not a computergeek...

You rock Secret Santa!

I have been having a rough week. Finals at school + family in town for holidays + work (or the lack of work rather) have made things unpleasant.

And then I got a box from Santa with not just

but

and bag full of awesome dice! (You can never have enough d6!) All off the top of my wishlist!

And, since I passed the final that was make or break for me this morning, now I can stop studying and start playing some games. laugh

Anyone feel like killing some zombies? zombie

I'm giddy.

That's the best way to describe it. Giddy.

The tree is up and lit, the ground is covered with snow, Rudolph is in constant rotation on the iPod (thanks to my son's requests...), and now the Christmas spirit is in full swing thanks to Santa's package on my doorstep. Yay!

I was jumping. Up and down. Jumping. But quietly, because my son's supposed to be napping.

After hearing all of the positive buzz, I cannot wait to try out 7 Wonders, and speaking of giddy fun, the BIG expansion for Galaxy Trucker is going to see some serious play very soon.

Santa's timing couldn't have been better, as we'll be heading up to Boston for a gaming weekend with college friends this weekend. These are absolutely getting packed.

Santa, wherever you are, thank you so very much. I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and a Joyful Festivus to all!

Now, back to editing an overview of the automobile industry while these boxes taunt me from the other room... must concentrate... don't think about awesome games...

Wish me luck.

I am so pleased to have done Secret Santa this year for the first time. My box, with three gifts arrived at my office today. I opened the exterior box and found within three boxes (that I will post a bit later). One of the boxes is wrapped in a newspaper ad and the other two are in somewhat battered and obviously used game boxes of Spy Alley and Qubic.

A clever clever note was included indicating, Santa true to his reputation of knowing just what every good Pirate lass needs, might have used a bit of misdirection in his packaging. Who knew he has a sense of humour too!

Thank you Santa!!

Can't wait for Christmas morning - but I will.arrrh

EDIT: Thank you so very much dear Santa for the wonderful group of gifts you sent. So thoughtful and knowing of you. I received, Monkey Lab, Limbo AND the Rivals of Catan. Thank you Santa!!! (I have a picture in my galley of the wrapped packages that I am too much of a dunce to post.)

O, what timing my Santa has. Today is Sinterklaas in our country! I must have been an exceptionally good boy this year

So here's the story:

I have received some geekmails from my Santa, with regular updates on the situation. A gift, plain and simple to the point he told me, no card, no gift-wrapping.

Today I got a call from home that a package had arrived. So here it is:

A quite unromantic box if I may say so, previously containing bottles of wine of some sort

But I kept my spirits up, and opened it up to find:

A CARD

and:

A GIFT-WRAPPED present
Ah, those naughty elves...

Containing:

A game right on the top of my wishlist.

So many thanks, Santa, for a job well done! I'm very pleased with the way you handled this, but as I said, I've been exceptionally good this year .

A Merry Christmas to all and especially to my Santa!

Thank you VERY much Anthony Gam... , er... Santa . Your package was waiting for me when I got home from work. This, along with Dominion: Black Market Promo Card and Dominion: Envoy Promo Card were very well received and very welcome additions to my game collection.

Normally I would not have opened the package, but there was some damage to the USPS box and I wanted to check the state of the contents. No coal , whew! Thanks again for the great game/expansions!

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR.

First, a small story leading up to how I got to this point...

I left a message in my profile advising my Secret Santa to wait until after BGG.Con so I could finalize my wishlist based on games I wanted to check out while I was there. I received a message on Thursday morning, 11/18 that he was having me watched at the 'con, but didn't get to read it until Friday evening. On Saturday, 11/20, I received the following message from my Secret Santa.

Secret Santa wrote:
Dear gamer,
one of my secret minions elves, found you at your secret gaming hideout ... he scouted you so far and told me you were a good gamer this year...

As it turns out, Finca was a game that I'd checked out and played on Friday with

and a mysterious gentleman from outside the U.S. whose name I did not catch, but I highly suspect was the aforementioned minion elf - or might have even been my SS himself! I'd never played a game with a rondel before, and I'm a sucker for resource/set collection and delivery, so this was a slam dunk for me. I lost miserably to the aforementioned stranger, but still had a great time and added the game to my wishlist soon after.

On Saturday, my Secret Santa advised that he although his elf was from far away and would have to leave soon, he was going to have his elf find me - but I didn't get the message until Sunday when the 'con was almost over. Darn it!

After the 'con, I pleaded with my Secret Santa to give me a couple of days to update my wishlist, hoping that his elf had not purchased a game to give me at the 'con, only to have to lug it home and ship it once he got there. In effect, after the 'con, I had more than doubled my wishlist.

My last missive from my SS was on 12/01 advising that my gift(s) were on their way.

Today, I received Finca and

Treasure Chest, which I only wanted because of the San Juan expansions.

Thank you, my Secret Santa from BRA... (Feliz Natal! I think.)

Edit:
I have since found out that my Secret Santa was from Belgium, of all places, and that his elf was from Brazil. An elf that was working the library and knew what games I was checking out. The mysterious stranger was just that - a mysterious stranger.

We also got a shiny new copy of:

which I've been dying to play. As well as an equally shiny new copy of:

which we've both been dying to play, as Mr. Jack is a favorite (plus, we've got some traveling to do around the holidays.

Woo hoo ! My gift arrived today, and it has the Buddha nature !

Although Zendo hasn't been available for a while, my crafty Santa knew that the Treehouse tubes still are, and sent me 5 of them with printed directions for Zendo. This is a boon for me, because I'd also like to play the other pyramid games.

I hope you don't mind my opening the package already, Santa. I didn't realize that CoolStuffInc. hadn't wrapped the items inside. I was planning to put them next to my bamboo until the solstice, but now I'll get to enjoy them sooner !

Also in the box: a gift certificate for CoolStuffInc.com and Saboteur, a nifty little card game that I've been wanting. My Meetup group has been wanting to play it, so on behalf of the other members as well as myself, THANKS, SANTA !

EDIT: Santa, please check my profile, I left a comment for you.

I was planning on being a good boy and waiting until Christmas to open my 2 boxes I received. However my plans were thwarted when within 1 hour of receiving my package, my 2 year old pulled one of his Mission Impossible stunts. He dragged a box of diapers over by the counter so that he could stand on it and reach the gift wrapped boxes. Needless to say they were unwrapped within 30 seconds. I was very happy to see what was enclosed. In addition to Tally Ho I received Last Night on Earth. My seven year old have already had a great time playing a few games of Tally Ho. I don't know when Last Night on Earth will hit the table. I've wanted that game for some time, and I'm excited to finally receive it.

Additionally, I'm thrilled and equally excited to have also received Vikings! I know this one will see the table a lot as well!!

Santa was kind enough to send FOUR packages in the ThoughtHammer box and today I opened two, the largest and the smallest, in honor of Saint Nicholas Day.

The larger is DungeonQuest (third edition), one of my must haves, and the smaller is Loot which I think will make for some light-hearted fun.

Thanks Santa and I look forward to opening the other two. I hope you enjoy the gifts you've gotten/will get.

The box arrived today. Yeah!! No taunting again but a box! Faith is rewarded. I would leave the box unopened...

No, I want to see what is inside. If it is wrapped, I won't open them.

Damn, wrapped! But the card was open - nice card and I snapped a photo.

I took the packages out. Weighed them. Measured them. Saw they were form www.miniaturemarket.com and went to the website. What did they have in stock to match these packages?

Couldn't figure it out. Oh, well - will wait for Christmas. But I'm working Christmas and then out of town for two weeks afterward. And wouldn't my Secret Santa want me to play the games at least some time in the holiday season. Game night is tomorrow and I would need to read some rules. And what if I had pre-ordered one? Sure both my orders were being held up by Essen releases which weren't even close to coming in but I would need to cancel stuff now! Really, it was obvious that I needed to open the gifts - and I did it.

The first year I didn't wait. I lasted less than one hour.

The completely awesome list of games:

Cyclades!!!

Sid Meier's Civilization: The Board Game!!!

and Rattus: Pied Piper

Thank you, Secret Santa

My Santa was super-nice to me, giving me not only Kings & Things, but also Cave Troll, two games high on my wishlist.

Best of all, due to an error on the part of the OLGS my secret Santa used (they addressed my package to both of us), I didn't need to do my usual comedy of failure trying to discover their identity. laugh

So, thanks again

That's it. Game over. I win the title of 'Bestest Secret Santa EVAR!' Seriously, this person sent me this and 'No Thanks'. While I don't know who you are (Yet!) I WILL find out and thankyou in person...well, via Geekmail and stuff.

Anyway, I rock, but not as much as my Secret Santa. Thank you sir, thank you.

Thank you so much Secret Santa!

Not only did I receive Ghost Stories, but I was also lucky enough to receive the Ghost Stories: White Moon as well!

I had planned on not opening them until Christmas Day, but after having a pretty rotten month, I needed some cheering up - this has definitely done it! Thank you Secret Santa!

Finally, after a week of no post (thanks, snow!) the postman arrived with two packages. One of them I was expecting, but the other was a bit more of a surprise...

Thanks to your GM, I knew to expect it at some point, but I didn't know it was coming from the far away land of... Guildford? Judging by the postcode (the detective work begins) I can see it was posted somewhere near Woking on the 26th...

Further clues: It weighs 1034g (2.28 lbs), including the wrapping paper, and its dimensions are 217mm x 160mm x 53mm (8.50 x 6.25 x 2.12 inches). So it can only be..... no idea!

I'll be sure to post again on the 25th... Thanks Secret Santa!

Edit: Ok, so I just couldn't wait, I'm afraid! Encouraged by my girlfriend, I just tore it open and had a look inside! Sorry Santa, I've been bad...

But thank you very much. I've had this on my wishlist for a while, and on my Amazon wishlist, and on my eBay Saved Searches, so now I can remove it from all three and proudly change it to 'Owned'.

The best thing is, it's not just for 2-4 players, it's for 1-4 players! So I can add it to Ingenious and Agricola for solitaire fun.

Cheers Woking-area Santa!
