For those of you who are new to the Secret Santa List:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order.

In years past this list has been heavily monitored as the gifting season approaches and I am sure the same will hold true this year.

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

To see Simon Hunt's statistical breakdown of previous years' Secret Santa:

UPDATE New list: Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2010

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2009

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2008

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2007

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2006

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

My Secret Santa got me two great games I got a chance to play once but didn't own! Citadels and Puerto Rico!

I can't wait to get back home and play these with my friends. The fact that Citadels came with the expansion already also really made me happy.

THANKS SANTA

I just got home late from work to find my Secret Santa package waiting for me...

Even though it's killing me to do so, I am not going to open it until Christmas Day... zombie

I just wanted to thank my SS for taking the time and trouble to send it and to express my appreciation.

I'll give the full and more specific thanks once it's open - in the meantime, rest assured that I am VERY grateful... laugh

Dear Santa,

the small (?) package arrived today! Inside were two (2) amazing games right from my wishlist! I've really been trying hard to get Shipyard and Leonardo da Vinci is right up my alley! Both are meaty games, just as I like them! I cannot tell you how happy you have made little Mikey!

Thank you very much for your generosity!

And here, for all of you, Santa's great taunting poem he sent to me:

'Twas three weeks before Christmas
(plus a couple more days)
And not a word from my Santa
had fallen under my gaze.

When a missive arrived
without any fanfare --
In my inbox it sat,
'til I noticed it there.

It said not a word
about what I would get,
Just a very brief note
saying I should get set:

"From Coolstuffinc, a small package
will soon be on its way
(to where they make the decor
for my aerial sleigh)."

Then I heard a voice say,
though there was no one in sight:
"Merry Christmas to you!
And a happy game night!"

This is going to be a duplicate of the comment I just posted because I didn't see the note about adding an item, as opposed to a commentwhistle. Oh well, it is just some well deserved extra thanks to Santa,. Many thanks Secret Santa, you are the BEST!! This is my first year of Secret Santa after lurking on BGG for years, I intend to start being a sponsor this year as well. I received, via Amazon.com, a package today that could only be from my Secret Santa. With no gift wrap or other warning of dire consequences if opened before Christmas my son and I tore into it finding Summoner Wars, two Wings of War expansion packs, and a very nice dice cup. I would post pics but have no idea how, tbh. My son and I have already played Summoner wars twice and love it. Working two jobs I haven't had a chance to get my gifts out yet to my target, but the xtra $ will ensure that I can add a couple of extra surprises to the gift bag when I do next week. Merry Christmas all.

So I got home today from a long day at work (especially after hearing from my SS that my gift was in the hands of a very special UPS elf) and as I walked up to my front door, I didn't see anything, but then I noticed in the corner (safely out of view of prying neighbors) was a large box from troll and toad tucked away! Santa had given me permission to open the gifts stating that even he would have a hard time waiting for Christmas!

Wow Santa! You did amazing! You really did your homework on me. I love Pandemic and I love Talisman! You hit the nail on the head with this one!!! Defenders of the Realm was very high on my wish list!

Not only that but you included Saboteur which sounds like a blast... aaaannnnnnd Inkognito: The Card Game which I hadn't heard of but looks like it will be a lot of fun as well!!!

You really outdid yourself Santa!!! Thank you so much! A very Merry Christmas to you and yours! I couldn't be happier!!

Even my dog couldn't hold back her excitement!

Again, Santa... THANK YOU!!

**UPDATE**

Got my gaming group together this evening and was able to try out both saboteur and defenders of the realm! Both were a lot of fun (while saboteur would be better I think with a larger group). Defenders could easily take the place of pandemic with my regular gaming group (while my in-laws and wife would still probably enjoy pandemic more simply because of theme). We lost in DotR but we still had a great time....stupid orcs!

AWESOME!

The three games in the package today were so nicely wrapped I considered putting them under the tree and waiting until Christmas. But come on, who's gonna be able to do that?

Hive has been a "must have" on my wishlist probably longer than any other game. And Santa included two big others...

Cuba

I've always thought Cuba was a fantastic, underrated game. I've been wanting an opportunity to really dive into it, and now that I have it I'll be able to soon.

and...

Merchants

Merchants will probably get played more than the other two. A lighter, quick, 2-player friendly game is perfect for my partner and myself for waiting for our shows to come up or whatever. After playing Merchants I knew it would be the perfect game for just that.

My Santa really went above and beyond. Thanks so much Santa!

Well I woke up early today and went downstairs to get a drink of water and guess what I found on my front porch. A very large, heavy box from my SS!!!

I quickly gathered the Dude and Jessica as instructed and we had a bit of an early Christmas. All I can say is WOW!

Not only did I get a gift. Jessica and The Dude each had ones sent to them as well!

The Dude got some pretty fancy doggy treats. I gave him a couple and he absolutely loved them.

Jessica made out pretty good as well. She got a deck of cards along with "The Ultimate Book of Card Games" by the Diagram Group. She also received 2 Blue Rays, Elf and one I said she would like, an HD Fireplace Blue Ray.

Addressed to Jessica and me was a copy of Blokus Duo, and Forbidden Island as well as 2 expansions for one of our favorites, Jambo.

Addressed to me was a brand new copy of Ra AND Stone Age as well as a box of Cordial Cherries (apparently Santa saw my geeklist addition to my SS targets required list).

I have pictures of the whole event and will post them here as soon as I can. I can't find the mini SD adapter right now! Oh no!

Thanks again Santa aka

Thanks so much for the lovely Civvy goodness. You read me well, I certainly do have a penchant for the build 'em up to conquer the world type of games and I am very excited to get some of this in. TI3 is one of my faves, but its just too long to play, so hopefully this will be able to scratch that itch in a shorter time frame.

So I received my delivery notice in the mail yesterday and went to the post office today expecting one of my many Christmas orders. What I got was a GIGANTIC box from CoolStuff Inc. Could it be?! I was so excited that I started to open it in the elevator on the way up to my apartment. As it turns out, I am not faster than an elevator so I finished the unboxing as soon as I was through my door.

I searched carefully for a note to tell me whether or not I should wait until Christmas, but couldn't find one. After wading through what seemed like an impossible amount of pink packing popcorn (seriously, my arm was about two thirds deep before I hit paydirt) I felt an unwrapped box. A BIG unwrapped box! I grasped hold and pulled it out in a shower of pink styrofoam. It was the titular Dust Tactics!

Memory fails me, but I'm sure I squealed like a little girl. Since I was alone at the time, we may never know for sure. So Awesome!

I plunged my arm once again into the pink popcorn and after a few seconds of fishing I came up with:

I don't even know what to say. You've gone above and beyond, Secret Santa. Thank you so much!

Well, this year Santa proved to be the strong, silent type. Nary a creature stirring, not even a mouse and all that good stuff. My personal vow was that if the gift arrived before or during Hannukah (which makes Santa, actually a Hannukah Harry) that I would open the package. If it arrived after, then I’d wait until Xmas (the joys of a multicultural household). Well, today (12/8) is the last night of Hannukah, but the brown elves of UPS arrived in their Sleigh of Joy ™ bearing an 11 pound box. Packed by the hard-working elves of Miniature Market (http://www.miniaturemarket.com ) replete with a discount coupon. YEEEEEES!

Hannukah candles were lit, and after six nights of watching the kiddies open presents, it was Daddy’s turn to go to town. Inside were three small wrapped presents.

Small World: Tales and Legends

Small World: Be Not Afraid...

and a two-fer of:

Small World: Grand Dames of Small World

Small World: Cursed!

Well, my Small World just got, if not bigger, a whole lot more interesting! Love the game, and can’t wait to have my havoc wreaked in all kinds of new ways

Great expansions, but not 11 pounds worth. So did I get a brick of coal? I put the Man and the Princess to work on excavation duty and the two of them managed to pull out a VERY beefy package (also wrapped).

Tumblin-Dice

Tumblin' Dice is a great family game that the kiddies and I are already enjoying. It’s been a rough up and down year here, and thank you Santa for bringing some gaming joy to our humble household.

I love the year long anticipation of Secret Santa, the signups, anticipating my target, stalking and taunting, picking out games, sending, etc. But now here is the part of Secret Santa that I hate. You see, I have read nearly 600 posts to this thread and will undoubtedly read double that and more in the coming month. Here and now is where I demonstrate that these posters are either sadly delusional at best, or outright liars at worst. You see, all these posts claim that THEIR Santa is the best. Nevertheless, the above list offers ample and incontrovertible proof that MY Santa is simply far and away the BEST FREAKIN’ SANTA/Hannukah Harry EVAH!

P.S. I know Tumblin’ Dice was the ‘main game’, but I wanted to use one of the Small World as the item image for maximum surprise/impact similar to ours upon finding it at the bottom of our box

Woohoo it arrived. Inside were a bunch of wrapped presents. So excited I couldn't wait and had to open them all. Inside was Mexica. Awesome! This was the only one I needed to complete the trilogy. I even got to play a game already and love it. I've been wanting this one for a while, but never got around to it.

Next up was an expansion card deck for Runebound. Weapons of Legend

Sweet!!! I really wanted this one. I'm slowly working my way to owning them all.

Next we had Picktureka the Card Game:

This looks like it could be a fun little filler or something to play with the younger ones. I'm looking forward to trying it out.

Then there were a few Pez Dispencers with candy. OMG, I love these things. There was also a little bag of chocolate and even a little bag of Santa's Coal, but since I was a good little alien. Santa filled it with yummy bubble gum, instead of coal.

And finally I got a Super Dooper Reindeer Pooper, that poops jelly beans when you lift his tail. laugh

Everything was so nicely wrapped and looked wonderful. Thanks so much for all the awesome gift Santa. I hope you have a wonderful holiday.

So, the first message I got from my SS was a couple of weeks ago and had the subject: "Santa remembers..." and the message said: "I've packed up a box with stuff I hope makes you feel like a kid again. Or, at least, in junior high.

Look for it soon, young master Matthew!"

At first I was trying to figure out what exactly that meant and then I realized I had talked about games I had as a kid in my profile. But....no, they couldn't really be sending me THAT game could they? No, it must be a SS trick or something. But, I was pretty excited anyhow and was wondering when the box would arrive.

Then, on Saturday I got another message:
"A short hop!" "Well, Mr S, you should be receiving a bit of a package on Wednesday, if all goes according to schedule. Pay no attention to the name on the return label! It certainly isn't that of your Secret Santa, who has obviously gone through great pains to remain anonymous!

Tear right into as soon as you get it. No need to wait for Christmas. I hope you enjoy the main gift and the bonus gift!"

Woo-hoo! Two gifts! And I can unwrap them right away!

Some days I work from home. But TODAY, Wednesday, the day it was supposed to arrive, I went into the office because that's where I usually have packages shipped to me. I was really looking forward to it because Tuesday had been a bit of a rough day for me.

Arriving at work there was a package waiting for me! Ah, but then I realized that box was my order of FF games. Fun, but not the box I was hoping for

So, I worked a long day. No other package arrived. I started home later than usual and actually kind of forgot about my SS package. Heading out to the car I called my wife to let her know I was heading home. She said a package had arrived!

Of course! I forgot that I used my home address for this particular package!

Once arriving home I was greeted with this package on the couch:

Yes, I was good and didn't open it immediately so that we could eat a proper dinner.

So finally after dinner and much anticipation, I got to break into the box with the kids watching closely:

Oh my!

Is it really THAT GAME!?!?

I pulled out a very carefully bubble wrapped game. Or rather 2 games!

Meanwhile, the kids are having a bit of fun with the peanuts:

and even got the kitten into the act:

Well, the first game was....
Civilization THE ORIGINAL Civilization! The one of my youth that had been long gone since my parents move! In Shrink!? In MINT condition!? Woo-hoo! Thanks you SO MUCH Secret Santa!

And, as if that wasn't enough:
Samurai from the same era! Wow! What a neat looking game! This wasn't something on my radar, but it looks like a really cool game, too!

Phew! I can't believe it! My SS is AMAZING! Thank-you Secret Santa whoever you are! I hope you got something that you really wanted, too!

Now, excuse me while I go finish cleaning up thousands of pieces of crushed up peanuts....apparently we only need to get the kids foam peanuts for Christmas to make them happy

Thanks again Secret Santa! Merry Christmas!

Coming home yesterday there was a big box waiting for me from Secret Santa's Elf Department in Britain. Torally excited, I couldn't resist opening it up. There were two packages inside beautifully wrapped, a wee one and a large one. Without much hesitation I carefully opened the big one and found a copy of Cadwallon. Very well chosen Secret Santa since I was coveting exactly this for quite some time.
But as I said Santa was even more generous this year, for the wee package contained a copy of Death Angel

another game which has been on my radar for quite some time. What excellent and very generous choices.
Thank you so much for you gifts Secret Santa, I'm very excited and happy about those games and hope to get them to the table soon.

Merry Christmas!

Today upon waking up I thought I heard the bells of Santa's sleigh, but it was just the doorbell ringing. Santa had sent an elve to deliver his package, what a great morning surprise!

While I was pondering whether to wait for christmas or to open it right now, the package was taken hostage:

I decided to join in on the fun with the package, so I went the impatient route and ripped it open with my teeth opened it:

Thank you so much Secret Santa! I am so excited to find not one, not two, but three items in my package:

Navegador

Yspahan

Hive: The Ladybug

I am sorry I couldn't wait to open the package, but I will host a game night in your honor for all my friends before christmas. Navegador will be the main course. And I will try Yspahan together with my girlfriend (who grew in Abu Dhabi, so she loves the desert).

Many thanks again! I hope your Secret Santa is as awesome as you are. Best wishes,
Axel

P.S.: Obligatory cats in the box shot:

WOOHOO!!

Ok, I know this may sound strange, but I had my daughter open the box from Fedex to see if my present was wrapped. THEY were not. So I had her wrap them for me!! I know, I know that's against all the rules, if your package is unwrapped you get to play it now. I won't be getting any games from my family and I can't buy anymore at the moment. So I am going to TRY to wait for Christmas. We'll see how that goes...

THANK-YOU Secret Santa!!

I will post the games on Christmas day, after I read the rules...

I received Last Night on Earth: The Zombie Game and Sneaks & Snitches both very high on my wish list.THANKS again Santa!!! He also sent me a very nice dice bag that he MADE and chocolates!!! A big round of thanks to:

YES! I was in a pretty cranky mood yesterday (no real reason - it happens), but I had a nagging feeling all day that one of our Secret Santas* would pull through for us and make it all better. When I called my wife Gretchen and let her know I was on my way home, she said "Santa came today!" and my day was officially rescued before even opening the package.

My wife and I are both big Ticket to Ride fans (I know, so are most people here), and we've been wanting this one in particular for a while, so it was a thrill to open it up and see it, along with a $5 coupon for Funagain! We'll be giving it a whirl tonight - I haven't played the Europe map in years, and Gretchen hasn't played it at all, so we can't wait!

The only caveat to all this: our Santa chose to remain anonymous, so we don't know who to thank. Santa, if you're reading this, thank you so much and know that you made our week!

* - Like many here, we're participating in a second Secret Santa exchange, this one for Eastern Iowa, so we still have that to look forward to as well. We can't wait to receive that gift as well and post it here!
