For those of you who are new to the Secret Santa List:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order.

In years past this list has been heavily monitored as the gifting season approaches and I am sure the same will hold true this year.

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

To see Simon Hunt's statistical breakdown of previous years' Secret Santa:

UPDATE New list: Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2010

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2009

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2008

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2007

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2006

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

My day was off to a very bad start. I needed to get to my daughter's gymnastics holiday show by 8:30 to work the snack bar. Only problem was I could not find my wallet. It is very hard to buy the 2 dozen donuts I was required to bring when you don't have any cash or credit cards. Thankfully my wife had $20 on her. Then at Krispy Kreme I was supposed to buy the Holiday Themed donuts (snowmen, wreaths etc.) now the problem was that each dozen of those were 10.99. As I only had $20.00 that was not going to happen so I had to buy one dozen holiday donuts and one dozen original glazed which now meant I could not use the buy one dozen get one dozen free since they were only for the original glazed. Fine get to gymnastics, work the snack bar only trying to think of where I could have left my wallet the entire time. Done with snack bar then have to watch the 2nd show (they do 3 shows) this time to actually see my daughter perform. After that have to rush to soccer field to watch other daughter in soccer playoffs. Have no money but very hungry so end up getting headache due to malnutrition. Daughter's team wins soccer game but that means I get to go home for 1 hour eat and then head back to soccer field for 2nd playoff game. In the meantime finally found wallet under bed in shoe (don't ask). Go to 2nd soccer game, daughter scores goal but their team loses 2-1 (now Dad sad). While daughters go off to Pet Smart to buy Hamsters they got for Hanukkah I go home to see if package that FedEx said was left at front door on Friday is left there now on Saturday. No package. Call fedex and say that online say that package was left at door but tag on door say package will be delivered next day. While on phone with Fed Ex, deliveryman comes up stairs with package. Hang up on FedEx, while signing for FedEx package. Happy now.
Open package and very excited to see Small World
and Dixit Quest
.

Both are games from my wishlist that are the type of presents you hope someone gets for you because you will never get around to getting them yourself. Thanks so much secret santa. You were very quiet but that only increased my anticipation and happiness once I got my package.

All the best,

Russell Berman

I persevered through a month and a half of taunts from my secret Santa finally to be able to pickup my games today.

Along with Summoner Wars which my son and I are going to be playing tomorrow I also got the Summoner Wars: Vanguards Faction Deck which was one of the more interesting factions it looks like.

And if that wasn't enough my secret Santa also got me Thunderstone: Doomgate Legion which is being delivered shortly was picked up today. Mmmmmm Thunderstone goodness.

This was my first year participating in the Secret Santa and I'm not sure why I waited all this time but the great organization made this an event I will be participating in years to come. Thank you Secret Santa and Thank you BGG!

Secret Santa wasn't finished (see last entry).

I lol'd at this one. I open the Amazon package and see a small book: Strengths Finder 2.0 by Tom Rath.

Hey what the hell is Santa trying to say? I'm considering what weaknesses SS could have possibly discovered by reading my catalog of writing on BGG...

but then I realize the box isn't empty. Instead, I find Space Hulk Death Angel in there as well. Hopefully Mr. Rath's inspirational help will guide my Space Marines quest for subjugation of the Genestealers. With advice like this, how could I expect otherwise: "You cannot be anything you want to be -- but you can be a lot more of who you already are."

Thank you Secret Santa, sincerely. And no joke I laughed out loud.

IT'S A CONSPIRACY!

A conspiracy between my Secret Santas, I say! That's the only reason to explain this amazing weekend of board games influx (when usually there is close to none)!

Just yesterday my Procrastinator SS delivered the gift. Today, Santa is even more tricky, making me jump out of bed with the doorbell ringing on a Sunday morning. Clearly, it was his elf disguised as a postman. We all know postmen don't deliver on Sundays!

Still trying to shake off the sleepiness, but getting more excited by the sight of

I tore into the box and found

Pretty!

It also came complete with a message card

That means I can't open it till Christmas. But... I know what game it is because Santa gave me a hint before the gift arrived and I decoded it (correctly, now that I can reaffirm cool).

Plus, the organza is rather see-through

Plus, the order form was accidentally packed in laugh

I also noticed that Santa completed the whole guise of ordering online by "borrowing" the names of one of the BGGers here!

So, apologies to

I have been out of town on business, and upon returning, finally had a chance to look through my secret Santa package. My secret Santa was really in the market for expansions and I received not two, but three different ones. In addition to Agricola: Farmers on the Moor, I also received:

Ticket to Ride: Europa 1912

and Hive: The Mosquito

Thank you very much secret Santa, you have fed my obsession with owning all expansions for games I like and rounded out my collection.

Coming home after a few days out the door there was a note a package was delivered 3 doors down. It turned out the delivery guy couldn't count and it was only 2 doors. But we've got our gifts! The plan was to put the giftwrapped boxes under the tree or otherwise play them tonight if they didn't have wrapping. Although the bill (which was under the games) has a handwritten note about giftwrapping the game boxes were staring right at us. So tonight it's time for Havana and:

Coloretto

Thank you Santa!!!!!

thumbsupIt's Christmas after all!thumbsup

Coming home to a package having been delivered to my doorstep.

No, my doorstep isn't a bed, I took the package into my home before drooling (you schmuck).
Frantically, I search the mail, both on BGG and gmail, for any information from my SS - but to no avail.

Which is great! Then I wasn't told no to open ninja

As some of you may have guessed by comparing my avatar and the being on this image: there is a slight difference. Yes, I let my wonderful wife open the package, as she has a thing (read:fetish) in this regard.

Being from Lolland, my wife of course had to check if there was more in the package.

The pacakge just lay there - staring at me. Was it reading my thoughts, or even more terrifying, was I trying to read its? Feeling the images of unspeakable horrors echoing from the package, I grapped what was the nearest weapon.

Having the added +1 to Combat checks was a comfort, even though I was still dealing Physical damage.

Feeling my sanity slipping, and seeing my wife's head turn 360 degrees (counter-clockwise), I had to open the package. And behold the horror! (The package you schmuck!)

It could feel my better-than-average brainwaves, it wanted to get inside my head! I had to do something, but how can you fight that which cannot be fought? (As it has Magical Immunity and I was still stuck with my lousy Knife)

I tricked it! Like lightning I shot into the living room, and quickly dumped the game into the Cage of Guinea-Pigness. The Deep Ones inside thought the simple animals to be the residents of this house, and quickly gave up trying to take over that small piece of brain - not even worth a snack (the schmucks).

Subdued, I could put the box into its proper place.

Moving back a little, I could finally see the big picture - this was what had been missing. Now, I felt complete.

I felt complete... I felt something else, what was that at the back of my head... Scratching my neck, I felt something slimy brush against the back of my hand! It's a tentacle, connected to Innsmouth Horror.

Oh God, oh no, not this!

...

Don't worry, I don't know what just got over me. Just relax, I'm fine now. Haven't been better. Oh, and by the way, may I have your SOULS!

Thank You Santa (you schmuck!)

It's Horror for Christmas this year for sure!

Whoo hooo!!! Package received!!!

All the way from Sweden apparently! And what a generous Santa!! Apart from one of my most wanted games, 7 Wonders, which we already played 3 times and it's pure dead awesome by the way, I also received another jewel, Glory to Rome, which will hit the table in the near future.

The unpacked games:

Santa has been very generous this year (my first year in this awesome BGG initiative) and I cannot thank him and BGG enough for this. Oh wait, since Santa is anonymous at least I can thank BGG - drum rolls please - check out my new license plates:

RO stands for Romania, B stands for Bucharest, 777 stands for 07.07.2007 (a very special day for my wife and me) and BGG, you don't need more explanations.

All said and done, this was awesome! My target also received his package and he seems as happy as I am.

Thank you once again Secret Santa!! And MEEERY CHRISTMAS!!!

The luckiest target ever,

Sebastian meeple

What was my surprise when today, SUNDAY, the postman knocked my door with a parcel from a mysterious address from East Sussex (actually not that mysterious being neighbours with my county (Surrey).

I could feel in the air that this was my Secret Santa!

I told my wife to open the parcel for me to double check as we are expecting other 8 parcels (mainly Christmas presents for the whole family) and she told me that yes, it was my Secret Santa and that I could have a look because the THREE presents were wrapped (with a very awesome wrapping paper I must add). So not one, not two, but three presents! I must have been a very good boy this year...

The parcel also contained a letter from Santa himself explaining the selection, which I found a very nice touch (I loved it!).
I will have a second read of the letter on Christmas day so that I can understand it better

Now I only have to wait sobluetwo weekssoblue to open them!
But I will resist the temptation!!!

Thank you so much, Secret Santa, you are the best!!!
Update: Finally, after such a long wait, I could open my gifts!
The funny thing is that I didn't guess even one of them. The closest I've been was Race for the Galaxy.
Very nice surprise to receive
Cornucopia, as I left some words of encouragement to the game designers and promised to get it. Now I have it!
And the ultimate surprise was
Straw, as it was not on my wishlist, but Secret Santa considered leaving a copy of it for me as well. He must have very good reasons to choose it, so I will probably play it the first one of the three!

Thank you so much, Secret Santa, that was so much more than I expected!

Wow! Santa was sure amazingly generous this year! What a great present! After receiving a taunt and a heads up that the gift was on its way, Santa's reindeer left it on the porch on Wednesday (Sorry for the slow reply, Santa, it was a busy week).

After something like 10 minutes of my two young boys, 3 and 6, asking to open up the presents from Santa, we dug in.

We were surprised to find not one, but SIX games, as well as some other goodies.

Just look what Santa gave me:

1. The aforementioned Dominion: Prosperity, which completes the set for me. Woo Hoo!

2. Stonehenge: An Anthology Board Game, an anthology game with designs by lots of great designers. Richard Borg, yay!

3. Pick & Pack A game I knew nothing about about apples. Fun for two, and I could play with my 6 year old and have fun. It will also make a nice filler at our weekly game night.

4. Labyrinth: The Card Game I neat light card game that works great for my boys. They haven't stopped asking to play it yet. A great game for kids, and I'm hopeful that I will actually win over one of them (0-2 so far, each boy has one win)

5. Dwarf Stones A strategy game easy enough for my 6 year old to get all the rules, but with some interesting abstract strategy to keep adults interested.

6. Saboteur A card game with semi-cooperative elements. I'm looking forward to trying it out at game night.

7.-10. AND GOODIES! A personalized Christmas card, a bag with some dice and candy, and, much to my kids' glee (and some of my own, a copy of "How to Train Your Dragon" on DVD. My wife said, "I thought you didn't know your BGG secret santa. Did he know we had kids?" You are incredible santa.

Games I knew of and games I didn't, it will be a fun-filled holiday season around here for sure.

I love the giving part of secret santa, but the generosity of my santa this year really blew me away. I'm definitely stepping up my game for next year.

Thanks, Santa, and Merry Christmas

My secret santa went above and beyond! Not one or two games, but four, including an expansion for the top game on my list, and a surprise party game from further down the list.

We usually wait until Christmas to open, but we're being naughty this year and going to Vegas for the holiday. That was all the excuse my girlfriend needed to open them early so I'd have time to read the rules and bring the games on the trip.

Here they are, wrapped:

And what we found after we tore them open:

Games included:
Thunderstone
Thunderstone: Wrath of the Elements
Castle Panic
Captain Clueless: Lost in the Caribbean

I've been doing Secret Santa for a number of years now, and this is by far the best experience I've had. Not just the presents, but the taunting! Oh, did I forget to mention the taunting? The taunting was most excellent, bordering on interrogation, but I guess I passed.

Cheers for Dice Tower Secret Santa, a new tradition!

So, I stopped at the post office today to see if anything had arrived (as I've got two outstanding game orders that haven't gotten here yet)... And what do I find? A box labelled 'From Secret Santa' on the return address!

And shipped from only 100 miles away, no less...

Excited, I took the box with me to the store I'm an (unpaid ) assistant manager at, and carefully cut the tape to open it. What do I find.........?

A wrapped game! Wrapped in a paper grocery bag, no less... Kudos to my Santa on the low-cost wrapping job! My sense of frugality applauds this! But it really means I have to wait two weeks before I get a chance to see what's in there and try it out.

The suspense, it's so horrible!

Especially since I'm not completely sure if the size of this box matches anything on my wishlist. Though, most games on my wishlist I've never actually seen in a store *anyways*, so it's hard to tell...

EDIT: And it turns out to be.... TORRES! Which was one of my Wishlist 1 entries, and turns out to be a *very* good game. Definitely looking forward to playing this one more.

I think I tried to post previously, then my geek list item seemed to disappear. At the same time, I became furiously busy with something else, so I haven't had time to correct my entry. So this is a redo.

Thank you, Secret Santa!!! In addition to Operation Overlord, I also received Roll Through the Ages and the card game Loot!

I'm enjoying them immensely!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Santa!

I got to play this game once at Strategicon and loved it from the start. I was lucky enough to sneak away from the boat and found this game waiting for me. I didn't wait until Christmas since I am heading back out in a few days. I taught it to my wife, who found it very frustrating, but I think is getting the hang of it quickly. I look forward to playing it with more folks too.

Thanks again for a great game that I am sure to enjoy in the years ahead!

Thank you, Secret Santa. This one's been on my radar for a while. But that wasn't all Santa brought me. He also got me Bison: Thunder on the Prairie - also on my wish list - and filled out the box with Le Boomb! and Dino Dice. Thanks again for you generosity, Secret Santa.

Finally! A chance to update this...I held out til Christmas and was well rewarded. The first game I pulled out of the box was Lost Cities I have been curious about this one for a while and think it will be a good one to enjoy with my wife. Next, I pulled out Pandemic. Another game I have suspected I can talk my wife into playing, due to the cooperative nature of the game. Then, I pulled out Pandemic: On the Brink Sweet! Both the base game and its expansion! I have been having a lot of fun with these games! Well done, Santa! Thank you for reading my profile and picking out games that will be helpful in getting my wife to further enjoy gaming with me!

My Secret Santa really played it up this year with the whole "elf-helping-Sanata" story, lots of fun.

When it came to reading up on my profile and making a selection based on "who is laputian," he really did a spot on job picking some great games that I've had my eye on for quite some time.

First off, I received Kingsburg, which I've played extensively online and on the iPod, but felt that my family would enjoy so much more if we had the actual game. This game has been lots of fun with my young kids, so it will be bringing much holiday joy into my house this year.

Next up, To Forge a Kingdom, the expansion to Kingsburg. How awesome is that? I've read many opinions that say this expansion makes a great game even better, so I'm really excited to break that one out.

Finally, the last official expansion to Power Grid that I've really had my eye on, the Benelux/Central Europe map.

Truly, my Secret Santa went out of his way to make his target extra happy, and did it with style.

Thank you Secret Santa, you rock!!

When receiving me as a target, my Secret Santa was confronted with a list of impossible games - games that aren't out yet, games that aren't available and games that would lead to Mrs Claus and the kids having to go without food over the winter months. (I was useless with my wishlist this year - I didn't really go through making sure there were many games that were actually VIABLE!)

However he didn't allow this to get him down. Instead of refusing to send me a game (which is frankly what I deserved!) he cherry picked one of only 1500 existing copies of Waterloo and sent the wooden Meepley-tastic Napoleonic wargame in my direction.

Bravo sir, bravo. A very fine choice indeed....Just not one I'm taking to the in-laws tonight!

A box arrived today from my Santa! Two wrapped presents where inside, along with a note with Santas very specific instructions- do not open until Christmas.

So under the tree they go, it is going to be a long 12 days!

Thanks so much Santa! I know whatever they are, we are going to love them.

Merry Christmas

UPDATE!

Santa has been too generous to me this year! We got two great games. First, a game straight from the top of my wishlist:

I am super excited to give this one a try, I have been totally addicted to the PC game for about 13 years now, and I know I am going to love this!

Also Santa sent a game that he and Mrs. Claus enjoy:

This one has escaped my radar, but looks awesome. I love the idea of having a game that is designed for 2 players, and my husband especially loves the theme.

Thank you so much Santa for everything. Also, we got the first white Christmas I've ever had in my entire life and although I can't prove it, I think that Santa had a little something to do with this too. Merry Christmas to everyone and especially to my Santa and Mrs. Claus for making my Christmas very bright.
