Welcome everyone to the November 2010 Edition of the Geekgold for Game Lottery. Thanks Blott for the amazing Idea and thanks everyone who is with us so far.

This list concern Board Games only.

On the bottom of the post you will find a link to the other lists. Expect some more announcements on this upcoming weeks as I change some stuff on the Tool, and on the subscription threads.

These are the Rules

Who can participate?
Everyone can take part of the system, with the following exceptions: new users cannot list items and are limited, unless they are a patron

How to bid for an item?
If you see an item on this geeklist that you're interested in owning:
1. It couldn't be more simple. Just tip that entry 1 and you are entered to win that game.
2. Check the description to see if you are allowed more than one entry on the item, and if there are bonus for multiple geekgold bid.

How to put an item on the lottery?
If you have a game that you're willing to part with for a little geekgold:
1. Post it as an item on the list.
2. Include a full description of the edition that you have and its condition. Be very clear on conditions, marks and box
3. Specify if you will be limited in shipping options. If you ship internationally, if the shipping is on you, and if so how much.
4. Specify when your item will close for entries.
5. You can post Board Games and Board Games related items only
6. The item must be draw before 30th of November 2010
7. For board games, contact me before adding homemade versions of non-Print and Play games.

What to do when the lottery ends?
1. When closed, draw a random name from those that have tipped your entry. If you allowed multiple entries remember to take it in consideration.
2. Contact that person and arrange shipment of the game.
3. Send them the game.
4. Edit your geeklist item on this list with a note saying that "THIS ITEM IS CLOSED!" and to put the avatar of the winner, use the code [ username=name_of_winner] (without the space) for that.
5. When an item is closed I will move it to the bottom of the list. Please don't delete them

How to find the winner?
Starting in November 2010, you must use the Copycat Awesome Tool to find the winner for your item. Later on this header you will find a link to the tool thread where you can get all the info on how to use it (it is pretty simple). Items appear on the tool the day they are inserted on the list, but the bonus and special drawings\conditions depends on me finalizing it. It usually takes about 4 days for the item to be corrected. And that's when it appears on the subscription list.

Can I tip back people who tipped me?

Yes, you can use the GeekGold any user tipped you to tip on one of his items for lottery, but with discretion. You are not allowed to enter in collusion with an user to circle tip each other to get your chances very high. Doing so will remove both from the lotteries and take the geekgold incurred during it. Simple getting a tip and tipping back is not a problem. If you realize that there is an item one user has that you really want, and he really wants one of yours. Propose a trade (users are encouraged to add, before listing, items they want to lottery off on their Trade list), and if it goes through you reimburse the geekgold of everyother participant.

If you suspect that something is wrong with any item on the lottery, please contact me by GeekMail explaining which behavior you saw that got you suspicious.

Concerning items that you published yourself

Regarding the current discussion that was held on the Geek forums about unauthorized promotional of items by publisher. After discussing the matter with Aldie, we come to the conclusion that most entries that were done in that regarding into the Games for GeekGold Lotteries were fine and did not violate the guidelines. In any case, I ask you to please contact me before posting any such item. And send me the wording you intend for the entry.

Additional rules and guidelines
When Blott created this list in September 2009, and when I took over in October 2009, neither of us had an idea it would become this big. And with bigger lists comes bigger responsibilities, and sometimes new rules must be put in place to help with the good flowing of the list. The rules on this section are meant to be guidelines to help we have a better environment. Some people did note about them on the banter thread, but I'm suffering with it to as I have to scan the list to check changes that can't be done automatically. So please, try to follow all of it.

1. Don't update more than once a day;
2. Editing for the sake of trying to attract people is bad behavior. Doing it everyday (countdown to draw) is even worst. When an entry is updated I go check it to see if I have to change anything on the tool entry for it, and when there are half the items with updates, that can be a bit difficult;
4.Posting on the Game Forums or on the General Gaming forums and GeekMailing users about the offers your put on the lotteries is considered spam and should not be done. We have a very high profile subscription thread on the GeekBay forums, which should take care of adding visibility. Rare will be the user that wants to take part but doesn't know already about it.

Special notes
Special Note #1: If you are giving an item, there is no guarantee for number of entrants. You must be prepared to give away your game even if you only receive a single geekgold entry. Do not enter a game unless you are prepared for that outcome!!

Special Note #2: If for any reason you are forced to withdraw a game you offered, you must refund all geekgold tipped to your entry.

FELIX: The Cat in the Sack

I am tearful to give this one up. Seriously. This is one of the first games I ever bought, and I've never played it. I almost never game with more than 2 people total, and this is a 3+ player game. I fear that I may never get to enjoy the feline awesomeness that is Felix.

So please, adopt this furry friend and give him a loving home, a nice jingly collar, and a nice bowl full of kitty nibblins.

The scoop:

1 = 1 bid, plain n' simple

Shipping: is free, anywhere on Earth (yes, even Estonia!)

End date: Will be on November 30th, somewhere around 10pm. I'll announce the winner on December 1st.

Winner: Will be chosen via Sol's tool.

Bonuses: If this reaches 200 , I will thrown in a few nerdy bonuses, and a few holiday-themed items (please let me know which holiday you prefer and I'll do my best to cater to that!)

Congratulations!

Item: Carcassonne: The Castle.

It’s the Russian 2008 edition, but the game is language-independent, and you can easily download the English or whatever rules you need from BGG.

It was one of the first games I got, so I didn’t know much about board-games and my tastes then. Eventually I found out that it’s not my type. Moreover, our child is still too young to play it. I don’t want it to collect dust anymore. So, who wants to get this 2-players Carcassonne variant – you’re very welcome to bid.

Condition: The components are in great condition, we played it just a couple of times. I somehow lost the Russian rulebook but the winner may never ever need it. =)

Entries are pretty easy:

1 = 1 entry
5 = 6 entries
10 = 15 entries

So as you might have noticed multiple entries are allowed.

Shipping is free to Estonia - and anywhere in the world, for sure.

End date: November, 30. Sol's mighty tool will be unmistakably used.

Update:

I made a picture to show there’s not much difference in Russian edition compared to others, so don't be scared of bears and stuff. ninja

Congratulations! (and thanks for all the )

What?
Indus, a game of archeological exploration in the Indus valley. You are seeking the remnants of the one of the oldest civilizations at Harrapa. Multiple board segments that are combined to create a different map each time suggest considerable replay-ability.

Box is opened and components are sorted and bagged. From what I understand, this was a very lightly used demo game at a now defunct game store. I haven't played the game - I just picked it up at a garage sale and decided I wasn't really interested. That means one of you could be the lucky winner of this game.

When?
Drawing on November 30 around 9 or 10 PM Central Time.

How?
1 GG gets you 1 entry, 5 gets you 6 entries and each multiplier of 5 thereafter gets you another extra entry. Ergo, 5 gets you 6, 10 gets you 12, 15 gets you 18, 20 gets you 24, 25 gets you 30, etc. I will use Sol's now mandatory super awesome "copycat awesome tool" to select the winner.

Where?
Free Intra-planetary shipping*
Extra-planetary shipping is at winner's cost

Good Luck!

*That is, free worldwide shipping!

For your bidding consideration...

CAYLUS

A game of medieval town-building, ranked #9 in all games at the time of writing.

Once upon a time ...
1289. To strengthen the borders of the Kingdom of France, King Philip the Fair decided to have a new castle built. For the time being, Caylus is but a humble village, but soon, workers and craftsmen will be flocking by the cartload, attracted by the great prospects. Around the building site, a city is slowly rising up.

The players embody master builders. By building the King's castle and developing the city around it, they earn prestige points and gain the King's favor. When the castle is finished, the player who has earned the most prestige wins the game.

Condition: Opened and played once, so in great shape and already ziplock bagged. It's a solid game, but my group tend more towards Ameritrash.

And yet, still . . . it is getting good reviews like this one from Tom Vasel, or this one from Roger's Reviews, is being generally well-received and has even become part of The Hotness.

So . . . if you've been thinking about this game, but haven't been able to pull the trigger on buying it with real currency, here is your chance to pick up a copy for bag thumbsup

Item

Condition
Shrink wrapped copy hot off the presses from GMT games in California via Vermont, which should cool it down sufficiently for handling, opening and yes --> playing meeple

Entry
1 = 1 entry
5 = 6 entries

Shipping
Well this is an $80 MSRP game that is selling for about $45, so I think the shipping quotas should all be met pretty easily, but what the heck - it's more fun + challenging to have goals, isn't it? whistle

100 bag = Free shipping to the USA
250 bag = Free shipping to Canada
400 bag = Free shipping to the rest of the world

If by some chance this gets over 1,000 bag, I will add in a copy of
Leaping Lemmings
to the lucky winner.

Draw Date
I will draw the winner using Sol's Copycat Awesome Tool on Tuesday, November 16th sometime after 1900 GMT. That way if you don't win, you can still put it on your wishlist for Secret Santa. And, if it all works out right you might even have it in time for Thanksgiving nutmegcinnamonclove (at least in the USA).

STILL SEVERAL HOURS LEFT TO BID -- I have to say, this game is really awesome I got to play it a couple of times this weekend (not this copy, silly ) and it is a fantastic game! So, bid while you can, we'll be drawing it in a couple of hours.

Condition: New in shrink and OOP!

We'll see how a lottery without any bonuses goes.

Shipping: This thing is friggin' heavy so I'm hoping I don't take a wash on free shipping worldwide. All I know is I need serious bag for this month and next.

End date: I'll end this one on Thanksgiving like my other just to make it easier to remember. November 25th sometime after eating but before falling asleep. Naturally I'll be using the only tool I've ever used, Sol's magnificent über winner picker.

A Collection of Six Excellent, Classic Poker Books

I am pleased to offer you six classic books on poker. They are from my own private collection.

SPECIAL NOTE: Now I know that I can't put a reserve price on this lottery (obviously), and I will happily accept whatever you guys bid -- but I am going to ask that you look into your hearts and be especially generous to me on this. These books were collected over a long period of time and some were not cheap. I have to get rid of some of my books and I thought that the BGG community was the best place to go. And, yes, I am grovelling.

CLOSING date is November 30th at about noon, my time (-8 GMT). I will, of course, use Sol's 'Copycat Awesome Tool' to figure out the winner.

Carcassonne: King & Scout - Expansion

This is the Hans Im Gluck German edition and is actually a bundle of two separate expansions containing 7 new tiles for the original Carcassonne (King) and 5 new tiles for Carcassonne: Hunters & Gatherers (Scout).

Both expansions are great additions to the original games!

Excellent condition. Played once. Complete. English instructions included but the expansions are actually language independent.

Caveat: The Carcassonne tiles have a small blue dot on their back in order to quickly separate them from the original tiles of the game. This is not a problem if you are using a bag to draw tiles from.

For every 1 GG = 1 entry
For every 5 GG = 1 bonus entry

The copycat tool will determine the winner.

mbmbmb

I am offering what will grow into a complete set of Bindle Rails games, as long as you thrust enough bags in my direction. Remember these are all hand crafted PnP games (that I have made), so expect a few blemishes, though really bad stuff will have been rejected before it ever hits a box. Bindle rails is a fairly quick card driven solo train game with some economic decisions to take.

Item:
We will start with a copy of Bindle Rails
This comes with a 23-page rule book. There are 27 event cards, 18 goal cards and 9 manager cards. There are player mats for the 4 public companies, the technology tree, and company value/turn/private companies. There are also 48 cubes - 2 each for the 4 red, blue, green and yellow companies, and 20 black and 20 white ones (or substitute colours).

Entries:
1 = 1 entry
5 = 6 entries

Bonuses:
Ah yes, the bonuses. The intention is to lure you all into thrusting so much bag in my direction that I can offer the whole collection: base game, 3 expansions and the express (dice) game.
150 At 150 I will include the first expansion, which has a folded double page map of part of Mexico. The rest of the components needed for the game are taken from the base game. The game is quite a bit different from the base game.

250 At 250 I will include the second expansion. This has a double page folded map of the routes of the Louisville and Nashville company (I will mount this on the back of the Mexican map). It also has a turn and stock track mat, and a technology track mat. Other components (cubes and cards) are taken from the base game. This is a sort-of mixture of the base game and first expansion.

350 At 350 I will include the third expansion. This has four one page maps (which I mount back to back) of Eastern Canada, the Denver area, Ireland and the Western USA. It also has a commodity mat, a technology/engine track mat and a turn/company value/VP track mat. Other components (cubes and cards) are taken from the base game. This is also a sort-of mixture of the base game and first expansion, and seems to be a more-or-less 'final' version of the rules, which evolved through the earlier expansions.

500 At 500 I will include a copy of Bindle Rails Express. This is, as you might expect, a dice-based 'express' game, with 20 bespoke dice, a game mat and a set of 8 goal cards. This is an express-like conversion using concepts from the base game and expansions. I have not yet made a set myself (the dice are in the mail) so I will post a picture of my build when I have one to post. In the mean time, you can get a flavour of what it will be like from this:

If we get beyond 500 , then I will think about further bonuses - almost certainly starting with a second winner. But we will cross that bridge if we ever get to it.

Shipping:
I'm new to this, and thus still naive, so I will cover free shipping worldwide.

End date:
Even if it was not mandatory, I would be using Sol's tool to pick a winner. Unless I am unavoidably detained, I will do the drawing sometime on the evening of November 30th, UK time.

Edit: 30th Nov. A big last minute jump means that all the bonuses have been triggered: the complete set of Bindle Rails expansions including the express dice game are now included.

It is just after 5pm UK time, which means that there will be something like 6 hours before I put Sol's tool through its paces. So there is plenty of time to chip in a few more bag since the item is now better.

If the last minute chipping in gets this up to 800 , I will start again with another copy of the base game for a second winner. Then bonuses as in the original listing would follow - so expansion 1 at 950, expansion 2 at 1,050, expansion 3 at 1,150 and another bindle express at 1,300.

I acquired this as a throw-in on another trade, and I don't see myself playing it any time soon. Also, please be aware that I DO NOT have the original box. Apparently the previous owner disposed of it, and did not tell me that he had done so when I agreed to the trade in the first place. Therefore, you will receive the cards and pieces in a "card box" (usually reserved for holding M:tG cards and the like), and the instructions will be included as well. If I had the original box, I would have included that, of course.

When?

This will run until November 30th. I will draw the names on that day, and should be able to ship that week.

How much to enter?

1 entry for each tipped, with an extra "bonus" entry for every five.

How will I send it to you?
I try to feel generous at best, but international shipping is killing my wallet. Therefore, free shipping in the US (as I use USPS Priority), but I have to limit my contribution on International Shipping to $10 (i.e. winner pays anything over that). However, if the total GG collected passes the 200GG mark, I will ship anywhere in the world for free. Enjoy!

What's up for lottery?
This is effectively the "Starter Kit" for the game. It was received as a throw-in on a trade, and the original box was not included. Instead, I will send it in a 500-Count card box, and will contain all of the items included in the Starter Kit box. The characters include Ruby Gemspark , Vindicator Hodoon (Draenei Paladin), Loterhin (Priest), and Gorebelly (Orc Warrior). The Action Cards are still sealed in their package.

Condition

The game and pieces are all in great condition, and completely unused. The cards are still sealed.

When?

This will run until November 30th. I will draw the names on that day, and should be able to ship that week.

How much to enter?

1 entry for each tipped, with an extra "bonus" entry for every five.

Bonus

As a Bonus to this auction, if the total amount tipped reaches 50 , I will throw in the Exclusive 2008 GAMA Trade Show Miniature of Gorebelly! The only place that this particular mini was available was at the Trade Show in Vegas that year, and it actually has a red base (rather than black) indicating as much. A neat little extra...

How will I send it to you?

(Everyone please realize that had I NOT used the Copycat Tool, no one would have believed that Andrew would have legitimately won BOTH of these lottery items. But, as far as I can tell, I am using the Tool correctly, so it must be okay. Sol, if I did something wrong, and Andrew is not the legitimate winner for this or the other lottery entry that he was named the winner, please let me know. Otherwise, congratulations Andrew!)

What's up for lottery?

This is a collection of various "Pirates of the Spanish Main" collectible game ships (and islands and crew and treasure and dice). I have two Collector's Tins from the "Pirates of Ocean's Edge" release, and between the two there are probably about 30 to 40 ships in total (most from Ocean's Edge). Some of the ships are already put together, but I saved the card pieces so that you can take them apart and store them properly.

Condition

The tins are in excellent condition, as are the ships. Some are still in their original packs (although I did open them to see what was there).

When?

This will run until November 30th. I will draw the names on that day, and should be able to ship that week.

How much to enter?

1 entry for each tipped, with an extra "bonus" entry for every five.
