We have all seen the geeklist of the super-pimped games. They might have expertly painted minis or fancy wooden additions or even scratch redesigns. This is not that geeklist.

This geeklist is about the little things you did to make a game better. Making text a little more readable, swapping out pawns, or improving it in a very small - and perhaps easy - way.

Please add your own micro-pimps.

What a cool list, only just found it!

All I have to suggest is card holders for Hanabi, which stops people bending the cards and also helps keep them separate and, I find, easier to remember which is where.

I just use the ones from my copy of Ticket to Ride Map Collection: Volume 1 – Team Asia & Legendary Asia:

No pics, but my wife made me a bunch of small felted bowls.

They sit nicely onto of the supply spots on the board, and hold all those dang resource chits.

And being felt, the squish down flat and fit nicely in the box.

I always add this one to lists like this cause it's my favorite addition I've made to a game. Usually when you put a yeti on the board it's a small round chit with foot prints in snow...not too intimidating I didn't think but this guy well that's an imposing blockade alright.

Again, wooden bits have driven me to try and create a second copy of this game. I am replacing all the plastic, and some of the cardboard, with wooden bits.

I'm using round discs from the Bottle Topps game, with a hole drilled and a wood burner to reproduce the discs in the game (no photo yet). I'm also replacing the stuppas and sherpas with wooden replacements.

And these donkey wagons replaced my yak carts...

I played a game with Rich at one of the board game marathons in Minneapolis and they replaced the player cubes from the railroad development track with corresponding colored trains from Ticket to Ride. Much more thematic and it removes the confusion that new players have when they grab the wrong cube to bid with.

Would you really risk your life for the gems that come standard in the game?

Now these gems would be worth risking rock slides, zombies, fire, and spiders.

Found them at a hobby store in the bead section. Probably ended up spending more on the gems than I did on the game...but you gotta want it.

I added two small round markers to the set. Hand them to the active player (first round you only use one token, after that use two). When a player finishes their first action, they move the first marker to the next player. When they finish the second action, move the second.

I found when a card has multiple actions, performed by several people, that it is easy to forget if it was their first action or second. This clears up that confusion.

It also lets a player know it is their turn, as they will have two markers in front of them.

-Munch "Some players zone out, and when rounds go fast, they become surprised to learn that it is their turn again, while everyone else was being patient as they thought that player was contemplative" Wolf

Another pimp job I am proud of is for this game.

I always found differentiating the chips to be exhausting, even just sorting them for the game start. First, for a friend I created a box which fit them each in tiny compartments. But that wasn't good enough for my copy.

I acquired mini chips of colors which were somewhat intuitively related to the goods on them, then colored the icon with colored pencils.

I also use some bits from The Brain Game from Australia to mark what I am hoping to trade of the options on the cards... It helps my short term memory issues.

We have a bit of an aversion to cardboard player screens. For Key Market, we used plastic card holders, which were nice and sturdy, and which saved bending the ones included with the game. Since we sit across the table to each other, having sides didn't matter.

I cut a bright green placemat into a square to fit on top of the box. The 1/8 thick vinyl mat quiets the dice and keeps them from flying off the table.

The color really emphasizes the green in the dice. Looks like it should have been included with the game.

The idea of micro pimping a game must have stuck in my mind because last night I felt the need for a Market Used marker in Kingsburg

So here are two of my solutions to a problem described in full here.
