It's that time again: Love is in the air, and we love us some WARGAMES!

Please add the games that you are playing this month. Feel free to add updates, links to reviews/sessions, and the like, so we can all share your joy (or pain).

I'm not sorting these in any order because many of us like to look at the added games.

If you played a game that is already on this list, please add it in the comments section -- some folks like to add up the raw total of unique games played. Since I am not sorting the games in alphabetical order, here is how to check your game easily:

Let's say you want to add Paths of Glory and didn't notice that it was the first game listed. Here is an easy way to check to see if it is listed:

1) Open a seperate window on your browser and look at the game in question. In this case, you can see it by clicking the link above to Paths of Glory.

2) Scroll down about 3/4th of the way down the game's page to the section titled "GEEKLISTS" (it's in a box with a dark blue border).

3) In the upper right-hand section of that section, it has 3 links: Title, Hot, Recent. Click "Recent". This sorts the Geeklists by most recent to oldest.

4) If your game is listed, you will see this Geeklist listed ("Wargames On Your Table - February 2011"). It should be right near the top since it was submitted on February 1.

5) If you don't see it, add your game. If you DO see it, click the link and it will open this Geeklist. Wait a second until the page finishes loading, and it will take you straight to your game on the Geeklist, so that you can add a comment about you also playing it.

I took another run at this one tonight. Lost again, as the Gallipoli Front advanced into Constantinople.

Everything started out well. I built up my defenses in the narrows. Then I pushed back the advances on the fronts. But then the Caucasus surged up to one. As I struggled to get the Caucasus back under control everything else pretty much fell apart.

Very fun game, I love the history notes on each card.

I have played the first scenario three times now with my wife and we are enjoying it. She is not much of a wargamer but we played Combat Commander Europe over the holidays and lately Napoleonics.

This is the genre the system was meant for. Do not get me wrong. I love Ancients but this system flows. Great game. Tight. You really feel the dilemma in the cards, leadership, in where to invest your time. Using your cavalry to exploit those flanked infantry, and being wary of the British line as they fire three shots a minute (the Brits get a firing bonus if they do not move).

Each nation has its perks and weaknesses. A joy to play.

I know they are coming out with another expansion already but I have so many more scenarios to play...

What was that? Yes GMT has my credit card info on file. Why?

We had another playtest session of this today. Germans driving near Moscow, u-boats wreaking havoc, British port-striking the Italian fleet silly.

Being a playtest, things are shifting as the game goes along. But it certainly plays quickly (compared to WIF), which is a key objective of the designer.

The first thing I noticed about this scenario was it doesn't mention at all where the Spanish should set up. The sceanario is recreating the Battle of Manila Bay. The Americans enter a side of the battle map that is the entrance to the bay. In the actual battle the Spanish were far enough from shore that their shore batteries were ineffective, so we started the Spanish in the center of the tactical map. We hoped this would also give the Spanish some chance of exiting some ships out of the bay. Although to get points GWAS always says you have to exit the map out of sighting range. That's pretty much impossible once the shooting starts. Or at least it is using the Dreadnought tactical rules and extended ranges.

The battle got off to an interesting beginning as the Spanish hit Olympia with their first shot, rolled a critical hit and then rolled another eleven to put Olympia, by far America's best ship, at the bottom of Manila Bay. Little did we know at the time, but it would be the only six the Spanish would roll for the entire battle.

The American's shooting wasn't much better, but they eventually picked off the Spanish ships, one by one. The Americans just have too much firepower for the Spanish.

Technically, the Spanish won the scenario as the Americans have to triple the Spanish victory points. I believe Olympia is 13 points and the entire Spanish fleet is 29.

I have some questions about using the Dreadnought rules with pre-dreadnought ships, but we'll work those out.

Picked this one up Saturday at the Williamsburg Muster. The wife and I got it on the table for about half a game of First Bull Run during the convention. I have played a fair amount of Ancients, Memoir, and Battlelore, so there were no surprises in the system. We did get quite a few people stopping to watch us play, and reminisce about the old AH version. We had to call the game a tie with three flags a piece so we wouldn't miss the raffle, where I won a copy of Blackbeard.

In the end we had a great day at the con, and enjoyed out little stint with this Borg classic.

Played FOUR solo games of the new Decision Games version this evening, in about two hours (not counting setup, which was already done).

Seems tough for the Reds. Three games ended extremely quickly, with enemy forces in Moscow and/or St Petersburg. The fourth game, the Reds avoided early calamity but could not quite eradicate the core of the country (Greater Russia, White Russia, Don Cossacks, Ukraine) of enemy units in time to get a win.

Quite different from the multiplayer version, but interesting.

Finally got my Secret Santa gift to the table!!!

It takes up my whole Games Room table, so I've finally been able to organise this when the kids have now gone back to school.

I've decided to "playthrough" as I "read" the rules. So, it is going quite slowly, but I'm starting to get into the swing of things.

I can see that once the rules and Sequence of Play are "understood" the game, particularly the first two weeks could play really fast.

I'm up to day 11, and I've lost half my harriers already. All have been lost to bad weather. Well, that's identified mistake #1... I think I'll really have a hard time with those missing harriers when I start to land.

With the SAS, Norad, Chile etc, there really isn't much reason to have half your harriers flying CAP on day one when it is foggy outside... shake

Still working on a playtest of this. This will be my third game. Interesting stuff. All have turned out differently. This time my Nationalists were unable to take Madrid during the War of Columns (earliest part of the war), but did take Cartagena in the south. Hopefully this will open up a whole bridgehead to put a lot of pressure on my opponent's southern positions.

I really bogged down in the North, so that's going to be my next focus.

I addition to my PBEM games (HIS, WofG, C&R, and AVL), this is what's actually on my table right now. I'm moving this month, and so things have been crazy trying to get the new house in order (it's nasty...this is Indonesia). I sometimes find some time at night though so I've been passing the time with this one. A classic indeed. The chits were so ugly and dog-eared that I just felt compelled to clip them. Some lacking rules were almost a show-stopper, but quick assistance from the BGG forums solved my issues.
