As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you, now remain in my love. You did not choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit, fruit that will last. -- Jesus Christ
This is the traditional weekly thrift and bargain finds list.
These lists may start empty but as always: add your items.
Put in what you consider a bargain, tell us how much you paid and the place you got it from. Bargains can be thrift store finds or any second-hand purchases or discounted boardgames bought new. I was heading out when a small green box on one of the housewares aisles caught my eye. Clue: The Card Game for $2, untouched by tape monkeys? A quick check showed the card tray and destination tokens were missing, but all the cards were present and accounted for. I pointed this out at the register, and they knocked off a dollar. So now all I have to do is make new destination tokens, and I have an extremely portable version of Clue. To me, that's certainly worth $1.
The second Dark Tower I've rescued. Acquired for $2.99 at Clintonville Goodwill. Complete except for one Pegasus token. Motor took a little prompting to get going, but works fine after a little push, which is often the case. Battery box had leaky batteries, which was true of my last one, fortunately no leaks onto game materials. Box has some edgewear and one corner split but very nice color and condition overall.
For you Central Ohio thrifters, there were 5 copies of Disney Pixar Cars 2 Sorry Sliders: World Grand Prix Race Edition in the Target ding and dent section of the store at 5:45 this evening. Boxes all had quite a bit of crushing and they were asking $9.99 for each box which was too much for me given their condition but possibly of interest to some of you out thrifting this weekend.
I stumbled across a new haunt. By stumbled across, I mean my nephew showed me a huge score of games he had about a month ago that included Citadels. Well, since I happened to be driving by the Hidden Treasures store for the most innocent of reasons, why not stop? I pulled eight games for a total of $15.97. It was bogo day on toys and games. Okay, since most of the games were in good shape anyways. $2.00.
My first Haba, and after one quick play I'm fairly pleased with it. Picked this up at Bookman's, I'll say $3.00. Was actually $9, but I used trade credit from some other thrift games I brought in, and received about 3x in credit what I paid for them, so everything I buy with it is 66% off, right?
I got a set of Wizard cards today at a rummage sale for $.25. I really don't need another set, but it was still sealed on the hanging card. I left the deluxe set with the worn cards and crappy cardboard spinner-style things for recording bids. Edit: they wanted $2 for the deluxe set
