Now this was a little more than a few pounds so not sure if it qualifies, but it was still a massive bargin.
Like my previous find (Aliens + Expansion, Dungeonquest, Block Mania and Curse of the Mummys Tomb, all immaculate, all £3 each) this was found in a local free ads paper.
Space Hulk 3rd edition, opened but unplayed, all cardboard unpunched, all minis (bar three marines) still on sprues, box immaculate. Cost me £30! A massive saving of about £70 going on the current Ebay prices for a copy in this condition.
$20 at Bookman's...Excellent shape, but missing 7 of the heroes...but with duplicates of 12 of them. I don't understand how that happened. Kind of a long story. This is the second copy of Descent I found at Bookman's in the last week. I had returned the first one because it was missing the manual, quest book (couldn't find a scanned copy), one figure, one treasure card, and two of the minis were broken. I actually thought this copy might have been the same one, but I opened it there and it looked complete. Figured out while laying out the pieces about the missing and dupe heroes. WTF? Anyway, went back and had a talk with them about how it's pretty much impossible to check the big games like this, and how they pretty much throw away ones that come back incomplete, so I should continue asking if I can get them at a discount. ANYWAY, that's how I ended up at $20. Playable, and maybe I can turn the 12 extras into the 7 missing somehow. If not, I'll send the 12 to whoever needs them for shipping cost. Also, I did scan the quest book, so can provide that scan for anyone who proves they bought the game without it.
Aaaand: $5 at GW. Used but in pristine shape, looks complete.
So, a good GW trip, at the one that was on the way home. I was looking the games up on BGG when another guy came in, looked at a couple of games, and left...fellow BGG? I think if I had been 5 minutes later I would have missed it.
Also ran into someone combing bookman's for games who mentioned he thrifted them to resell. Weird "social" day I guess.
