There are only a few things in gaming that gets me practically drooling. Make mention of a new Tresham or Eklund game, and I race to the head of the line. But I will publicly admit that I am a GMT fanboy.

I love their model of business, their openness to new ideas, the response when things don't go well, their customer service. The go on a limb and release games other people don't touch, and set trends others later emulate. The produice games they themselves like to play. I don't order all their stuff, mainly because I'm not so fond of gaming WW2, but I don't think there is a game of theirs I would not be willing to play if asked.

So, this is a list of the GMT ganmes I own and a couple comments on them. Maybe I'll update every once in a while. Am I missing anything superlative? Any contrasting opinions? Feel free to chime in with any thoughts or experiences.

Plays: 6
Solo: Poor
Highlights: Mongols eating away the Eastern side of the board
Lowlights: Board map too small, not enough control markers

This was my first p500 way back when. I have really enjoyed every play of this game. People complained about the rules when it came out but we never had a problem. Very different mechanics, and I like how the board gets whittled away from the East during play: you really get worried about those Mongols. The bidding for mercenaries before the battles adds a neat bluff element. We made some larger map cards and they work out much better. Solid game, and doesn't go on too long.

Plays: ~8
Solo: Excellent
Highlights: Nice maps, counters
Lowlights: Lopsided battles may keep it mostly for solo play

This is a great game with just the right detail for me to re-enact battles from the Middle Ages. I never really understood how the battle of Bannockburn unfolded, or the real troubles the French faced at Crecy. Now I have a much better understanding, and had fun finding out. The counters are colorful and easy to read, the combat tables straightforward. Some of the rules on retreat and mustering a bit vague for me, but I carry on playing regardless. I've played out all the battles but one solo.

Highlights: Plays 2-5 pretty well
Lowlights: Tough to get volenteers to play Austria

Despite the accusations that this really doesn't recreate the Napoleonic era too closely, I've always had fun when I played. I like the switch camp ability and how the diplomacy is handled: important, but doesn't get in the way of the game being played. Quite a few actions to do, although tough to play some nations.

I really like the movement/attrition in this one. Have played once against an opponent and did a turn last night solo. Very involved combat system allows for a wide variety of results. A lot of options available, down to pre-choosing who will have a chance to move that turn, but not when they will move. Agonizing choice!

Lowlights: Not for the faint-hearted

Wow, this game has it all. Warfare, economics, some civ building, random events, nasty surprises in battle, barbarians. The rules are extensive but not overwhelming. A lot of leeway to suit the game to your tatstes. A bit difficult to get started, and it looks to play quite long. I would love to play this a lot more. Scenario setup is an extensive process.

This is just what I craved and never knew. The right level of detail and complexity, but not overly so that the game cannot allow for variation on history. I am no expert in the era but have learned so much from playing this game. Now I know why the Romans lost at Badregas plains! Has started me on the slippery slope of Great Battles of History series. own a huge number of possible battles, so will never need to do the same one twice if I don't want to.

Played one early War scenario solo get the flow of play. Hard for me to set up because the geography is mostly unknown to me. Had to have this after visiting the Czech Republic and realizing what an impact the 30 years war had on Europe, but not knowing that much about it.

Very good game. Was high on my list for many years before it got so highly ranked. I missed the first edition that took so long on p500 because it didn't sound like one that would grab me, but one play later I had pledged for the 2nd edition. Rarely do we make it to the third era, but they are all good games. Played it solo as well, anmd it worked!

A game about bringing together tenuous armies that fall apart fast. The lack of replacements (dead=dead) make each decision to go to battle a potential disaster waiting to happen. You really have to watch the map carefully in this one.

I thought this might be pretty slow and static, but two turns in my first try and the map a horrible mess. Maneuver so important in this one. My first solo efforts seem to paint this as more difficult to do solo because of the need to set speeds, as you cannot outthink yourself. Looking forward to playing all the scenarios of this. Rules quite a bit easier than SPQR.

A very nice intro card driven game, and improves on the earlier We the People. Very nice components to attract the non-wargame crowd. A bit too few event cards for me, and less history than many other card-drivens. Still, playtinme is fast with two very different sides to play keeps it most interesting.

This is a real crime to have this game languishing with so few plays. I really like the different unit abilities in this one, and again, learned an awful lot of history. Tough to move about in that wilderness. The action is funneled into specific areas, much like the real conflict. You really have to use the advanatages of your side to get the win.
