This Geeklist was created to cover some of the games that aren't likely to be covered by my previous geeklist, What's the Lowest Rated Game You Rate at 10?.

It's true that most users probably don't have unranked games they rate at 10, but while users who do, are unlikely to meet the proper circumstances that would allow them to add the games to the other geeklist, they can add them here.

So, whether you rate it at 10, 1, or somewhere in-between, what's the unranked game you rate the highest? (Expansions don't count.)

Dvorak is sort of a game and sort of a game system. One of the main ideas is that the game's rules and cards may be modified during play. There are a bunch of decks available at the pages below, or you can start your own with a bunch of index cards.

This one's tied for me (with Sevastopol and
some expansions) at an 8.

Pretty decent game - giving a good feel for naval
strategic considerations.

Sev is a real quirky game -
minis style (no hexes) but on
a board with counters.

My 7-rated unranked games (Ranked in order of preference)

1 - Bloodsuckers = A really thematic game where 2 to 4 players wage a war between vampires and hunters. Along the way they win the loyalty of various villagers while slaying a number of the opponents. This was my favorite game that I discovered at Origins, and is one that I wish I could get my family to play because it was so enjoyable. It has a slight CCG feel, but every card you'll need is already built into the deck. It actually surprises me that this one remains unranked after Fireside Games showed it at both Origins and GenCon. Hopefully it will get more attention when it starts showing up at online retailers.

2 - Zero = A kind of reverse Family Feud. Players are asked to give the least popular answer to a question with a finite number of answers. It is so unique and has a nice array of topics. This one is brand new, so it hasn't even had a chance to be rated by many people. It was also my favorite new game of August, and most-played game in August. I bet it will be ranked at some point (though not highly.)

3 - This Vs That = In this game you create a list of items in a given category. Then one of your opponents must get the rest of his team to guess those items by giving clues. The twist is that the amount of time the players get to guess the list is the same as the amount of time it took the opponents to make the list. As far as I know this was sold exclusively at Starbucks several years ago, so it's no surprise it hasn't received enough ratings. It is the closest of these 5 games to getting ranked, but I think it will be an uphill battle.

4 - Squeeze Phrase = I'm not sure why I like this game. It is simply a game where you are given a card with names/phrases that have the vowels removed and you have to figure out what they are. Perhaps it is the interaction (since a player decides when the round ends,) or maybe it's just the fact that I'm really good at the game. I don't even remember how I got this one, but I don't think it's in production any more. With only 4 ratings over the last 10 years I doubt this game has a prayer of ever getting ranked.

5 - Frazzle = Speed Scattegories is what I like to call this game. Players are given a category and then a letter, first person to shout out an answer that matches the category that starts with the letter wins a point. I like the variety of categories, but I really like playing with the toy judge's hammer. This is another that has an uphill battle to reach a ranking. It was released 10 years ago, just like Squeeze Phrase, and it was published by the same company. Somehow it has grabbed 15 more ratings, but who knows if/when it will get any more.

Watten is the unranked game that I rate highest; I rate the variant that I play (detailed in my comments for the game) a 10.

An excerpt from my comments:
Quote:
Reading the rules, doesn't really tell you what it will feel like playing the game. The two player game is like a highly distilled form of head-to-head Poker. But better, since you can mold the power of your hands thru the setting of the trump rank and the trump suit, and the not needing to follow suit makes your card play highly flexible. Since you only see 10 of the 32 cards, there is lots of uncertainty, which can make the betting wonderfully excruciating. And being in the lead can sometimes feel worse than trailing, especially when your sitting at 9 points: with only 2 points left to win, your opponent can really start upping the bids hard and fast, since they've nothing to lose (either you win by a little or they risk letting you win by a lot) but you have little to gain. It hurts, but in a good way. The hands and the games can be over pretty quickly with the constant threat of bets, counter-bets, and bald-face bluffing. Watten is one of the very few truly enjoyable two player games that can be played with a standard deck of cards.

Excluding Expansions I have two games Rated an 8.

Chronopia is a 'now defunct' miniature game. So, I'm not surprised that it doesn't have a ranking here. While in my past I enjoyed miniature gaming, I rarely enjoyed ones with fantasy settings. This was the exception.

Also rated an 8 is Weapons of Mass Destruction, it may be 'classified' as an expansion, but is in the same vein as all the 'Dominion' series.

There is also a couple that I rated a 7:
Void 1.1, one of my favorite sci-fi miniature games (I'm actually credited in a couple of their publication).

Piratengold which is a simple game with much of the same feel of the wizkids pirate game.

The Game of Life Express - my favorite of the 'express' games.
