What is your favorite/best game of 2011 so far?

There are really a lot of good games out this year. I'm not sure if the Kickstarter model has helped with that, or maybe it's all the reviews from Lance, Jeremy and Tom I've seen lately.

Whatever the case, 2011 is a good year for gaming and I want to know what your favorite of year (so far) is.

Requirements:
1. It must be a game that came out in the year 2011
2. You must have played said game
3. Said game must be purchasable

How do you make one of the best games ever better?
Add another player a slew of new powers and manage not to screw up the base game.
FFG I commend you on this expansion. More isn't always better but in this case it is. Thank you for not going overboard with powers and extra game rules etc.
Giving players the option to use base or new cards is awesome.
Making it so that I can play the new race in games with less than 5 players is awesome.
Please remember this formula with your other games.

If you own the base game and you ever have 5 players in your group do yourself a favor and buy this expansion

My only game from 2011, apart from a couple of PnP games.

This one is a good game although we haven't warmed to it as much as the original. Still, it's fun and I'm looking forward to trying out the old combos in this new underground world.

Another FFG game.
For me this is all the fun of Arkham Horror is a fraction of the time. The puzzle mechanic is a love it or hate it, thankfully my group was okay with it.

Still great atmosphere and at least in my games well balanced. Every game has come down to a hailmary moment on either side.

It was almost said, so I'll say it. This is my favorite release of 2011 so far. A bit of a surprise, since I initially dismissed it. Thinking it was a dexterity game, and that I would correspondingly be awful at it, I thought I'd hate the game.

But it's really a light strategy game with a dexterity element. The flicking of the ships just adds to the fun. Many strategy games are rather dry experiences. This one provides lots of laughter and banter in addition to the strategy gaming experience.

Close runner up...Yggdrasil.

I now feel stupid for not getting into this game earlier, I am a big Heroscaper and just kinda resisting it, but now I love it, I am so happy I got it at GenCon, and could play all day long and be very happy.

I think the big box is great, 6 factions, great boards, and very smart play. I got one of the older starter boxes ( goblins and dwarves ) and not need to get all the rest down here to Costa Rica.

I am sure it will be a very long time before I feel the need to start doing customized decks mixing the factions together. They even have a lot of Mercenary cards if you want to play customized decks - just very cool all around.

I could have said Ascending Empires or Chaos in the Old World: The Horned Rat Expansion but they're already on this list so I'll go with the 3rd item in my three-way tie for my top game of 2011 so far, Discworld: Ankh-Morpork.

This game is far lighter than usual Martin Wallace fair but there's still plenty to it. It's a quick game, coming in at under an hour usually, and is very tense as you try and keep a close eye on what the other players are doing to see if they're close to fulfilling one of the various win conditions that they could be pursuing. It looks great, and that's just the regular edition, I assume that the Collectors and Deluxe editions will be even prettier. Not only that but it's fairly thematic with the cards doing things that make sense given their relationship to the novels. Playing wizards is also suitably unpredictable. All in all it's a damn fine game.

I've played about a dozen of this year's games and haven't been overly impressed, but then I'm mostly a eurogamer and the Essen crop isn't out yet.

Train of Thought is a thinky party game, which is a pretty niche market, but just the kind of thing that piques my interest. I've only played it a couple times but it's definitely on my to-buy list. The only other game I've liked is Ascending Empires, but I doubt I'll buy it.

I have not found any great games yet from 2011 but rather a good number of very good games. There is not one which sticks its head above the others so I will give it a close win to Nerath. Thematic, streamlined and fun. It takes the fiddly bits out of similar games and lets you get stuck right in.

This game has some nice technology/civ elements, dynamic board play (by which I mean you capture territories but you also move around a lot), a quick tempo. I also like the way combat is handled, you can't really get knocked out by people attacking you, you just lose control of a territory but you can use that piece again later. This was a lot of fun.

I agree that 2011 is shaping up to be a banner year. In addition, this year I attended my first GenCon and my first Origins since 1998, so I've been playing a LOT of games.

My current top 20 of 2011 is below. Note that this is still preliminary. Many of the games have been played very few times and could shift position dramatically on the list.

For more info on my thoughts on any of these games, check out my ratings or my Origins/GenCon Geeklists.

Is it really the best of 2011 when you can only seem to find one title in your collection that's a 2011 title - 5 min game quick filler, don't expect allot from it - I felt it was lacking something but like I said for a filler it's quick.

and that's my only and best play from my 2011 inventory
