Just added a new Secret Santa Poll . Head over to [geekurl=http://boardgamegeek.com/article/7924278#7924278]Week 2 Secret Santa Poll[/geekurl] to see how everyone is faring thus far in this year's event. And of course, add your votes!

ALRIGHT! It is time once again for the annual Secret Santa List, this time the 2011 Edition. For those of you who are new to the list:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order. No placeholder entries, please.

In years past this list has been heavily monitored as the gifting season approaches and I am sure the same will hold true this year.

Last year there were 1,437 unique entries spread over 58 pages. I'm curious to see how huge it grows this year. As a tip - if you go looking through the previous years' lists, please be mindful of which year you are actually posting your gift to. There have been multiple occasions of people posting a gift from the current year on the previous year's list. That would likely diminish the chances of your Secret Santa getting around to seeing it...

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2010 List"

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

does a superb job using the data from this list to create his great statistical look at the hottest gifts of the season. This year's version of his list is located at:

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2011

Last year: Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2010

Want some for your stocking? Simon also runs a Secret Santa Sweepstakes which is located at:

This year: 2011 Secret Santa Sweepstakes

Last year: 2010 Secret Santa Sweepstakes

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

If you would like to taunt your "target" while maintaining your secret identity, you can do so using the Santa logon. Just log yourself off and close any BGG windows (if you don't you take the chance of being discovered if the new username doesn't take) and log on using this info:

Username: santa
Password: password

I hope you have a terrific holiday season and enjoy the list!

What was in the walls of Kessiah Mason's home? Answer on BGG profile.

Who is Kessiah Mason?

Kessiah Mason or Keziah Mason is a H.P. Lovecraft character from short story The Dreams in the Witch House and found in demolished walls of the old Witch House is a space filled with children's bones, a sacrificial knife, an unidentifiable metallic bowl, and a strange stone statuette of a star-headed "Elder Thing".

My Secret Santa has indeed been doing some detailed research....

It seems like every day for the past week as I return home I pass house after house with a front stoop covered in wonderful looking boxes. Each pile getting larger and larger the closer I get to home until I can't even see the doors anymore for all the loot! It would seem my poor little doorstep is destined to be unoccupied...

But wait! A knock! A telltale thud on the stoop! Could it be?! Yes! Joy of joys! I was good this year!

And now the countdown until the morning of the 25th begins! Here's hoping that my iron determination and will are stronger than that one little piece of tape... that would be so easy to cut... just to take a peek...

Christmas Day:

Yeah the day is here!! Presents are opened, and I am so happy to show that my Santa sent me:

and!

Thank you so much Santa, for sending these great games my way! A very merry Christmas to you!

To my benefactor this year, sorry I've been slow to post my thanks.

I was amazed when the postman woke me up at silly o'clock, package under his arm. My delirious brain struggled to determine who would be sending me a box in early November. Mail bomb perhaps?

No, it seems Santa is ridiculously efficient around these parts. And generous too! Pandemic on it's lonesome would have been the perfect gift of the season. I finally managed to get my partner hooked on board games via Forbidden Island, and now we have a whole new way to lose horribly together for the Christmas season.

But no! This santa is nothing if not a canny soul. S/he could still peer past the nicey-nice, play-with-my-buddies-and-sweetheart request and into the inner recesses behind my ribcage. There, s/he glimpsed the gaunt, stooped form of my inner ravenous wargamer, tired of gnawing the bones of old conquered foes and demanding fresh battle. For this ghoulish creature, Santa also had a gift: Test of Fire.

From myself, my beau, and my bloodlust, thank you Santa!

(And to my own recipient, I apologize that my own gift won't be quite so lightning fast. I try to do all of my purchases with my local gamestore whenever possible, so I need to wait for them to get my order in before I can send along your spoils.)

The doorbell rang today as I was having my lunch. Toast in hand, I answered the door, and the postman handed me a large box. On the side, a sticker stated that it was from a Paul Lister. Tsk, I thought, my Secret Santa has clearly failed to remain secret...

...until I opened the box and realised that Paul Lister is actually BoardGameGuru, and my Santa remains as secret as ever shake

Anyway, the box contained two presents, wrapped in cheerily appropriate Santa wrapping paper, which is how they will stay until Christmas. Probably ninja

Many thanks to my secret Santa, and to the not-so-secret Mr Lister!
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Update

Well, I'm off to see my old mum tomorrow, so I thought it was time to see what Santa came up with this year, and he (or possibly she) didn't disappoint

I seem to remember saying exactly the same thing last year, but Santa clearly realises that I'm a sucker for card games and expansions as in addition to Race for the Galaxy, I also received:

Arkham Horror: The King in Yellow Expansion

Many thanks to Santa for his generosity, and Merry Christmas to everyone!

As a teacher, I usually do not like to use expressions like LOL, ROFL or ESAD, but seriously, when I opened cardboard box containing my Secret Santas gifts, all that I could say was

WHOAAAAAAAAAAAA! OMGOMGOMGOMG! (and a couple of happy curses)

There was not only Forgotten planet, but also

And when I searched all the box, also

Thank You Santa! You are the best Santa ever!

P.S. It took me about 5 seconds to open the box. .5 seconds pondering whether to do it now or Christmas and 4.4 seconds finding scissors.

After a message from my SS I knew I there was something coming to me soon.

And when I came home from work today, there was a note saying a package had arrived at the post office.
Make dinner or drive to pick up the package? Real easy choice. No dinner yet, but I have my SS gift, nicely wrapped in Christmas paper, in front of me.

And then, not wrapped. Couldn't resist the temptation.

My SS did a great job! I received a game from my favorite designer, Stefan Feld. Have yet to play a game I don't like from him.

And then it dawned on me I got got my BGGSS gifts. Let's just say I was struggling not to open it up that nice square present.

But I finally gave into temptation so here I am sharing my bounty and sharing my great thanks to my Secret Santa. Thank you so much for the Arkham Horror expansion. Arkham Horror: Innsmouth Horror Expansion My friends and I will definitely be getting a lot of game time out of all three.

Yay, i got my Secret Santa package today!

When i got to the post office, they gave me nice rectangular box, which seemed to be the size that can nicely hold something in a TTR / Catan size game. After peeking inside, i saw not one, but two wrapped gifts and a card. I was afraid that the card might say i have to wait until Christmas with opening the gifts, but fortunately it wished "Häid jõule ja head uut aastat" and told me to enjoy the games. So i tore off the wrapping paper planning to start with that as soon as possible.

First present contained Paperclip Railways, the first "Brake Van edition", a game number 57/120! Second present looked too small to be a game, so i thought it was an expansion, i had plenty of those in my wishlist. But instead i found Ubongo: Duel, a perfect addition to our Ubongo collection!

Thank you Santa for the two great games! We already tried both of them today and i hope we can play Paperclip Railways again tomorrow with more than two players. Also thank you Boardgameguru for helping the Santa´s elves.

I'm still new here, so when i got 50 geekgold from someone named 'Santa', i thought maybe everyone just got GG for participating in Secret Santa, but when i looked more into it, i realized that it was actually just from MY secret santa. He messaged me letting me know that a package was on its way to me and to possibly expet another in about a month. So we flip to about a week later, i am asleep on the couch after working all day and my wife gets home from work, letting the half-asleep me know that there is a huge box waiting for me. She brings it over to the couch and i asked her to open it (i had ordered some clothes for the kids, assumed thats what is was). Well, she opens it and what does she find but RUNEWARS!!! If that doesn't wake you up, i dont know what will. So i shoot up. but thats not all she says...

Cosmic Encounter: Cosmic Incursion

WHAT!?! Two games? thats just crazy. Runewars alone was epic, nevermind the first expansion for one of my favorite games ever...we are beside ourselves at this point, until my 5 year old reaches further into those devilish packing peanuts...

Panic Station

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! One of the hottest new games out there, Runewars, and Cosmic Incursion?

Santa, EVERY time i walk past that big brown shipping box in our living room, i feel the need to remind my family, loudly, "Are you serious!?! 3 games?" And thats not including whatever else Santa has up his sleeve. not that he hasnt already gone above and beyond THREE times!?! let me tell you something santa. I had planned on just sending one Dominion size game. Not anymore i tell you, not anymore.

Thanks Santa

PS The kids are using the misprinted elf sheet and city tokens to playpretend board games like their dad. you have made this quite the happy house.

This year my SS experience has been a little accelerated because I'm going to be out of the country starting December 17th, so I was hoping I'd hear from my Santa a little sooner. And I sure did! My package arrived today from CLS Games, and I received a nice geekmail as well.

Although I might normally have some self-control looking at these beautifully wrapped packaged, my partner had given me the thumbs up to open them now, as we're gaming with friends for Thanksgiving - our last big chance before we fly away.

But enough with my justifications - want to know what was inside?

First of all there was a shiny copy of the TtR Asia expansion! This means two new maps for my favorite game of all time. Hooray!

Next up was a copy of Biblios, which I've been wanting to try for ages. It sounds like a card game that's the perfect style and weight for my gaming buddies and I CAN'T WAIT to try it!

Lastly there was that teeny attached item - what could it be? Well it's my copy of Small World: Tunnels, which I was just thinking about ordering online, as we have copies of both base games. The perfect diversion for our weekend, as my partner adores Small World!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to my Secret Santa! You are the best! For the third year in a row I've been incredibly blessed and am proud to be a member of this great gaming community on BGG.

telling me a parcel had been sent to my general direction by his elves.

And indeed, when I came home, I noticed a big box waiting for me! That's a very early Santa! It's still unwrapped, will I have the courage to wait until Dec. 25th ? We'll see... whistle

Thanks a lot, Secret Santa!!!

I received a notice from the post office that a package was waiting for me to pick it up the very day my Santa said something should be arriving!! So like an excited little kid (okay so I was an excited big kid) I picked it up today. It was quite large and heavy.

Now Santa had given me permission to open it if it looked like it might be broken and I thought it seemed to be dented in one end so I opened it quickly!

Nothing noticable save for a couple of nice dice. Could there be a hole? I had to check.

No, not broken.

Just a great gift from a great Santa, who might be from Italy but I'm not sure.

Thanks Santa. I hope your Christmas is filled with love and happiness and many games!

My Secret Santa was very efficient! The gift is already here and I would never have what it takes to wait till Christmas to open it. So I did...

And started from the wrong side of the box... what a nincompoop I am!

The proper side up reveals a great wrapping job. Good choice of store, Santa!

Glen More!!!! Excellent choice Santa! Thank you!

This game has been on my list since I first played it. I've been on the verge of purchasing it several times but then, by reason I can't really fathom, it got left behind.

Thank you very, very much Santa! Knowing you are currently going through some tough times makes this gift even more special. I hope things improve for you soon and that my target is as happy with her gift as I am with mine.

Merry Christmas everyone!

My wife texted me today telling me my present had arrived. I had a good idea what it might contain since my secret santa had left me some nice taunts.

The box had 3 gift-wrapped boxes, my two year old daughter had a blast opening the gifts, she discovered:

- Glen More

- Race for the Galaxy : The Gathering Storm

- Batt'l Kha'os

I had never heard of Batt'l Kha'os until this year's Secret Santa. Looks like a lot of fellow Canadians received it. I will have to put it to the test soon.

Thank you Secret Santa, so excited about these games. The wife and I will be playing Glen More as soon as the daughter is in bed.

So after a long day a work, it wasn't even over when my wife mentioned I got a package at home. I was expecting a package and so I asked "Is it from Cardiff?". She said no. No? "It's from Boards and Bits". OK? I keep talking to her while thinking what did I order from them? I thought I filled a cart but didn't end up submitting. Did press a button? I log on. Nope, it's been since July. July, really? It's only then that I think oooooohhhhh, it must be from my BGG Santa.

A brief thought of just having her open it and tell me over the phone. But, I wait. As I enter the house there it sits. .... Hours later I get back from dealing with family C&@%?

Finally I get to open it. Inside a nice note from B&Bs and a game. Monastery - it's been on my wishlist for almost 3 years. Tile laying and worker placement goodness. And those meeples! I may even get this game played by the new year.
