Just added a new Secret Santa Poll . Head over to [geekurl=http://boardgamegeek.com/article/7924278#7924278]Week 2 Secret Santa Poll[/geekurl] to see how everyone is faring thus far in this year's event. And of course, add your votes!

ALRIGHT! It is time once again for the annual Secret Santa List, this time the 2011 Edition. For those of you who are new to the list:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order. No placeholder entries, please.

In years past this list has been heavily monitored as the gifting season approaches and I am sure the same will hold true this year.

Last year there were 1,437 unique entries spread over 58 pages. I'm curious to see how huge it grows this year. As a tip - if you go looking through the previous years' lists, please be mindful of which year you are actually posting your gift to. There have been multiple occasions of people posting a gift from the current year on the previous year's list. That would likely diminish the chances of your Secret Santa getting around to seeing it...

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2010 List"

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

does a superb job using the data from this list to create his great statistical look at the hottest gifts of the season. This year's version of his list is located at:

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2011

Last year: Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2010

Want some for your stocking? Simon also runs a Secret Santa Sweepstakes which is located at:

This year: 2011 Secret Santa Sweepstakes

Last year: 2010 Secret Santa Sweepstakes

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

If you would like to taunt your "target" while maintaining your secret identity, you can do so using the Santa logon. Just log yourself off and close any BGG windows (if you don't you take the chance of being discovered if the new username doesn't take) and log on using this info:

Username: santa
Password: password

I hope you have a terrific holiday season and enjoy the list!

My Santa is the best! I came into my office to find a note in my mailbox telling me that there was a package in my grad student cubicle.

Waiting for me was a ginormous box filled with games surrounded by my jealous peers! Having a package like this show up at school is like getting a box with brownies and spiderman comics when you're at girlscout camp- you make a lot of friends fast.

Not only did I get The Climbers, which was my greatest hope, but I also got Québec!

I wasn't an easy target. Not only did I have a small wishlist, my santa had to work around my partner's enormous collection. I am verklempt. What a wonderful selection of games.

I will take this as inspiration to go forth and make a huge effort on my santee! They won't know what hit them.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! meeple

My Secret Santa has struck again! See my earlier post about what I already received from my Secret Santa here: Secret Santa Twister

Two packages arrived on Saturday. One from the North Pole and one from Flying Frog

Opening the Flying Frog first and we find two brightly wrapped gifts...

Quickly shredding the wrapping paper I find:

The Last Night on Earth 'Radioactive Grave Dead' supplement autographed by pretty much everyone associated with the game and company.

Very very cool.

There are probably twenty-five autographs spaced out between the three photographs and the scenario.

The supplement also came with the seven radioactive zombies miniatures armed with weapons (not pictured)! Unfortunately the two promotional cards Pitchfork/Flashlight and Here They Come didn't come with the package so I'll have to hit up Flying Frog to see if they can part with a pair to make this package complete.

On to the next package!

The Season of the Witch expansion for Mansions of Madness!

Here lovingly displayed with my two Bowen Cthulhu Statues! Now I just have to finish painting the base game's figures!

Zombies and Cthulhu, my Secret Santa can do no wrong!

Edit: So Santa is much sneaker than I guessed. Inside the Season of the Witch were eight "snow flakes". On one side the message:

Congratulations! You've gained entry to the Witch House.

When flipped over, each snowflake has one of the names of Santa's reindeer listed - each with a unusual symbol underneath (similar to the hands of a clock?).

When listed in order from the poem A Visit from St. Nicholas, the clock hands are possible associated with letters in the names?

An eight letter word? Or a combination of numbers to a lock? Possibly an anagram? Like "Tom Marvolo Riddle = I am Lord Voldemort"? Or possibly a clue to the contents of the next package?

72293185 are the numbers associated with the symbols.

So, the first symbol suggests the seventh letter in Dasher? However Dasher only has six letters? So maybe the first letter of the next reindeer? "D"? Or maybe that's a six symbol? Then "R"? Anyways.. next symbol would be the second letter "A"? etc.

First word is Dare (or possibly "Rare"?). Something rare? A dare?

Second word is possibly Mult? Mult Dare?

Anagram would be Male Turd? That doesn't seem right.

Dart Mule
? No.

Must be doing something wrong. What about Mult Rare?

Mult(i) Rare? Anagram = Rural Item? Expansion for Agricola?

I just got my 'coal' today, much earlier than I was expecting. BOTH games I got from Santa were great, I think he/she read my mind. The big one was Agricola: Farmers of the Moor. I just played with this the other day with a borrowed copy and I absolutely loved it; so happy to have my own! Agricola is one of my top games and this is perfect for my first real game expansion.

I also received Hive. My SO and I are both entomolgists and we're always looking for two player games so this is so perfect for us! laugh

Thanks you so much Santa!

Since I'm still expecting the final gift to arrive before sending out the package to my SS recipient, I was delightfully shocked to see the words "A gift from your BGG Secret Santa" on one of the boxes which awaited me when I arrived home from work today. My mood brightened considerably when I opened the box and found several things inside. If you're wondering, I would probably have waited for Xmas if they'd been wrapped...I say, "probably", knowing that I'd likely have rationalized opening one of the smaller packages eventually...but the angst of waiting was removed from the equation and I received instant gratification. And gratifying it is!

My generous Santa chose exceptionally well. Fresco has been on my must have list and I absolutely can't wait to play it. I've been telling my family...my game group ...about this since I became aware of it some months ago. I am really, really looking forward to this.

But Santa also sent a couple of unexpected games that look like terrific fun. Archaeology: The Card Game is a game I'd been thinking about getting for some time but never got around to; now I have to opportunity to dive in. And Parade is one that has simply flown under my radar, unheard of, but being a fan of Alice and the inhabitants of Wonderland, I'm quite sure I'll enjoy myself.

Thank you, Santa! Great choices. I hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday!

So, I got home today and there was a UPS package waiting for me. At first I thought it was the presents that my wife and I are going to send to our Secret Santa's. This gave it away as my gift though:

Now, I noticed something very suspicious about this box. It was REALLY heavy. As in 17lbs heavy according to UPS. It was at this point that I thought that I've received a VERY generous Secret Santa. I waited for my wife to get home, and together we opened the package:

wow

Twilight Imperium *and* Star Trek Fleet Captains!

My wife and I are both just blown away by the generosity of my secret santa. Whoever you are, thank you very, very much. We are going to add a little extra to our SS packages because of your generosity. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Thanks so much,

Wowzer, good night, are you kidding me Santa!!!! You have outdone yourself. My most excellent Santa.

Santa had warned me that he found out that I had attended BGG.con and he had something that I would have to deal with when I returned home.

Santa didn't know that I had another week of travel before I would be able to "deal" with the issue of which he had warned.

Well, I finally made it home and Santa was right. After I picked my jaw off of the floor I started "dealing" with it.

It was Maria!!!!!!! My most wanted game. Thanks Santa.

But wait! That wasn't all. Next I had to "deal" with

A Few Acres of Snow

Whew, this game was my most wanted "New Game"!

I had almost recovered when I realized that I had something else to "deal" with!

Troyes

Another game that I had longed for.

Santa, I have to say that I sure did enjoy "dealing" with you this Christmas season. You are indeed real Santa. Thanks to you and your elves!!!!!

PS. I wish I could remember how to embed images. I may return to "deal" with it later.

PSS. I did it!! Yeah, me and you too Santa!!

It came! It came!

Our secret Santa has been sending us notes about how good we were this year, and hinting about even more presents to come... Hopefully he doesn't mind us unpacking a little early this year, but my husband just couldn't wait!

Not only Pawns 2, but also Puppet Wars: Pawns 3 arrived this afternoon!

Now if my own secret santa-ee's store would just get his game in, I'd be all set.

Well, my very silent Secret Santa has struck! I got home from work today and there was a package on the porch. I opened it right up and found a nicely gift-wrapped item and an invoice that told me exactly what it was. (Bad Amazon!) Since I had an excuse to open it now (Good Amazon!) I unwrapped it to find Haggis, one of my most-wanted games.

Santa even included a card with a poem written in what looks to my inexpert eye to be Scottish dialect:

Gweed Cheer!

The holly green hings in the haa
The robin reidbresit sings
Roon aabody's waa baith great an sma
Wag Xmas cairds on strings

Cool! Thanks Santa!

EDIT: I just noticed Amazon included a note -- "This shipment represents part of your gift. The other portion of your gift is shipping separately."

Woo-hoo! Very generous, Mr. Claus.

EDIT 2: Just got home from work and there was a package waiting. I wasted no time and tore into it! What did I see but

Now, this is a PHENOMENAL choice by Santa Claus for several reasons. It's a game I've wanted for a long time, but it's slipped down my wishlist, primarily because it's not the type of game my regular gaming group plays a lot. BUT, I love this game, and I will always have fond memories of it because it's the first game I played at my first Gen Con. I wrote a review based on that experience; maybe Santa found that?

This is a terrific pick because it definitely required some research to figure out how good a game it would be for me, and it's one of those "want it, but can't justify buying it" gifts -- in other words, the best kind of gift.

Well done Santa. Now I have a fast-playing 2-3 player game I can break out with my wife and my brother, and a much more involved game absolutely dripping with theme and old-school goodness. I am one happy recipient! Thank you so much!

After recieving a couple humorous GeekMails from Santa's elves regarding his slacking off this holiday season on an island vacation, I was informed that Amazon would be handling my gift delivery and it arrived last week . . . while I was out of town! Fortunately, we had a pet sitter coming over who was able to rescue it from laying out on my front porch for 6 days! I opened the package tonight and found:

Dominion: Alchemy, Forbidden Island, and The Resistance!

Awesome stuff Santa, thanks! Can't wait to give these a whirl in a couple weeks when my family comes down for Christmas. I have a feeling that Resistance will go over quite well with them.

Received this in the mail today along with No Thanks!. Thanks alot! This game caught my attention a month or two ago and intrigued me enough to put it on my wishlist, but not enough to purchase it directly. Thanks to Santa, now I have it and am looking forward to playing it!

Santa also included the card game to play with my son Caleb (he promptly absconded with it to put it in his card game basket). We'll have to sit down and play it with Mom sometime this season. It's a fun little filler that I've played before when my brother brought it home with him.

Thanks again!

I was starting to wonder if there really was a Santa Claus for a while. I hadn't heard anything from him, and I was starting to lose hope. Then...

Shows up at my door the day before Thanksgiving.

The label on the box says:
"Dear Chris, the games are not wrapped, so please find a cozy spot for this parcel under the Christmas tree. I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas! Ho! Ho! Ho!

Your BGG Secret Santa"

I didn't have a tree set up yet, so I grabbed the few decorations I have and snapped a picture with them.

A few days later, Santa sent me a GeekMail!
He warned me that the elves have set up the box to self destruct if opened before Christmas. I had planned on not opening the gifts until Christmas morning anyway, but now it looks like I don't have much of a choice if I want the games (and myself) unharmed. I hope that if I open it at midnight on the 25th, it won't explode. I think Santa would be smart enough to program the box to my time zone, but I know that some of his elves can be a little ditzy.

Thank You, Santa for not making me wait too long, but also for making me wait to open my present.
Merry Christmas!

OH, and P.S.
I'll update my thanks after I open the present on Christmas!

!!!UPDATE!!!
Thank You Santa! Ticket to Ride hasn't been on my want list very long, but it's recently been a game that I have been dying to have (even without ever playing before). I'm happy to say I love it. And I'm even happier to say that my boyfriend enjoys it too, which is an even better present than the game alone.
Also, thank you for The Resistance. I haven't gotten a change to play with enough people yet, but we're having people over for a pre-New Year's party, so we'll introduce it to a bunch of people then.

Also on the topic of games for Christmas and my boyfriend, he got be Smallworld Underground, Be Not Afraid, Tales and Legends, and The Tunnels expansion. It looks like Santa may have shared my Christmas list with him this year.

Thank you again to my Secret Santa, and I hope everyone had a fun Christmas and I continue to hope everyone has a great New Year!

This was honestly the last game I expected to receive from my Santa, but it was a great choice! I've only ever played it twice, but I enjoyed both games immensely, and really wanted a copy in my own collection.

Thank You, Santa!

My secret Santa beat me to the punch this year, though I had to wait through the WHOLE Thanksgiving vacation before I could get the package.

First, there was an awesome homemade card/artwork. I didn't know Santa was so talented. Then came the games:

Glory to Rome

The Spirits of Niagara

Thanks Santa and Happy Boxing Day!

Received a taunt from my secret santa telling me I wouldn't be getting anything this year , but then received a message letting me know to expect a package from Amazon . I was away last week when it arrived so opened it tonight and in addition to Elder Sign, I received:

Dixit Quest

both on the top of my wishlist. Elder Sign will be great to play with my husband as we currently are enjoying Ghost Stories, another cooperative supernatural game. Dixit 2 will be great to expand Dixit which is our favorite game to play with family and friends. Thank you so much!!

Woo Hoo! Santa arrived early today!

Santa brought not only this one, but also Talisman (fourth edition): The Dragon Expansion!

Both of these were on my want list and now I have more figures to paint.

It was fun timing since I sent my target off a game today!

Thank you secret santa for your generosity!

I was happy to receive my Secret Santa present today. I asked my wife to peak and see if the present was wrapped and was informed that "no they are not". They? You mean there are more than one? "Yes" she informed me, "you have two games in this box and I am sure you are going to like them both". Well cool let's see what we got! "oh no" she said, "I'll wrap these up and we'll set them under the tree. You'll have to wait until Christmas, but at least you have two new games to look forward to".

Thanks Secret Santa!
I can't wait to see what you sent .... but I guess I have to.

My secret santa decided to feed my worker placement/cube pusher habit.
Not only did Santa get me Kingdom Builder

but also Leonardo da Vinci.

Much happy cube placing and pushing shall ensue.

Thanks again to my very generous Santa.

Thank You Secret Santa!

What an awesome secret Santa I have! I got an geekmail from them last week:
Quote:
Ho, Ho, Ho!!

It seems that little Joey has been a GOOD boy this year (although snatching that STAR TREK booster pack out of that kid's hand was cold) and you should be rewarded!

So, my elves have worked all night to find you the right things; nothing big just a little SMALL something.

Since we're getting very busy already I am working with the brown elves with the big trucks to help me deliver your goodies. You'll find them JAMmed in your mailbox or doorstep sometime next week.

Be good, be safe and dream big!!

Santa

And then today, there was a big old box on my doorstep. After swimming through the sea of packing peanuts I found three very different size boxes and a card from my Secret Santa.

I couldn't believe what I got when I open them up!

Star Trek: Fleet Captains Wow, I've been wanting to play this one, badly, ever since I heard of it!

Small World Underground I love the Small World games and this adds more to it in a great way. I'll have to download the game of putting to two together! YEA!

Jambo Expansion Jambo has been coming a big two player game (Besides wargames) that I've been playing a lot. Now I'll have to play it more with the expansions!

Again, thank you secret Santa, you been wonderful and I cannot wait to get these games to the table! I just hope that your Secret Santa has been awesome to you as well.

Yesterday, I had a notification from DHL that a package for me was dropped off and I could fetch it today. Which I did. The package was from Milan-Spiele, an online boardgame store here in Germany.

Of course I opened it right away and was greeted with this:

Digging very carefully, I revealed parts of something shiny:

At this point I realized my Secret Santa had sent me Quarriors! But there was something else as well:

Wow! So both Quarriors and the expansion! I really can't wait to get these on the table.

Thank you very very much, Secret Santa, you're the best!

A Merry Christmas to Everbody!
