Just added a new Secret Santa Poll . Head over to [geekurl=http://boardgamegeek.com/article/7924278#7924278]Week 2 Secret Santa Poll[/geekurl] to see how everyone is faring thus far in this year's event. And of course, add your votes!

ALRIGHT! It is time once again for the annual Secret Santa List, this time the 2011 Edition. For those of you who are new to the list:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order. No placeholder entries, please.

In years past this list has been heavily monitored as the gifting season approaches and I am sure the same will hold true this year.

Last year there were 1,437 unique entries spread over 58 pages. I'm curious to see how huge it grows this year. As a tip - if you go looking through the previous years' lists, please be mindful of which year you are actually posting your gift to. There have been multiple occasions of people posting a gift from the current year on the previous year's list. That would likely diminish the chances of your Secret Santa getting around to seeing it...

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2010 List"

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

does a superb job using the data from this list to create his great statistical look at the hottest gifts of the season. This year's version of his list is located at:

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2011

Last year: Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2010

Want some for your stocking? Simon also runs a Secret Santa Sweepstakes which is located at:

This year: 2011 Secret Santa Sweepstakes

Last year: 2010 Secret Santa Sweepstakes

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

If you would like to taunt your "target" while maintaining your secret identity, you can do so using the Santa logon. Just log yourself off and close any BGG windows (if you don't you take the chance of being discovered if the new username doesn't take) and log on using this info:

Username: santa
Password: password

I hope you have a terrific holiday season and enjoy the list!

Today I get home from work and see a package from Cool Stuff Inc. I figured it was the gift I ordered for my victim target. If I had paid attention I would have noticed that the size of the box was all wrong for the game(s) I ordered.

Anyway, I open it up and I see Quarriors!. I havent played this but have been looking at it for a while. I normally dont do deck building type games but this one had me intriqued.

Also included was the expaniosn Quarriors! Rise of the Demons. Now I just need to get the Quarrior Promo cards from the BGG geek store and I will be all set.

Thanks Secret Santa. Would love to know what part of the country my Santa was from as I am very curious.

Dear Santa:

2011 has been one hell of a year: new job, loss of family, layoffs at the office, final playtesting of a labor of love. But I've been good. People tell me I have been, anyway. I'm a terrible judge of my own character. And apparently, you think I've been good, too.

You got me this. And I will play the hell out of it.

And this:

And this as well:

I promise to respond to emails more quickly in 2012.

Happy,
Opie

Last week i got a message from Santa that he was on the case for my present and wanted to verify what languages i prefer. After the answer Santa moved quickly and i got a message next day that the package is on the way. After that i've been waiting to hear from the delivery guys and today i got a message from my wife that the package had arrived.

So when i got home i quickly had to open the delivery to see what i had gotten . Because there's always a possibility for something intresting to be found in boxes my other dog Panda decided to tag along for the opening.

Then i opened the package and found a copy of Mansions of Madness which was high on my wishlist. Panda decided to check if the box contained something for him too but no such luck this time .

Thanks a lot Santa for this game i am sure that me and my friends will enjoy this game a lot . Happy holidays to your whole family!

Well, this has been my first year participating and first I would like to say that it's something amazing! I think everyone should experience this at least once! laugh

As most of the time I'm at work, I decided to give that address, so this morning when I arrived at work there was something over my desk...surprise A BOX FROM USA!!!

I really wanted to stop myself until 25th, but I couldn't . "Just to check inside, maybe it's wrapped, who knows?"

Inside the box was a marvelous copy of FOR SALE, one of my tops in the wishlist...but..wait! there's MOAR!

I'm sure i'm going to enjoy all of them, and I so wanted to thank my Santa for the effort taken (wow, straight from the USA and by certified mail), and for such a huge present. Be sure it was more than I could expect.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

For the rest of you who have taken a couple of minutes to read this: Have a nice Christmas and wish you to have such a good Santa as mine!

Enjoy your games!

Wow! I picked up a package today and left it wrapped until my younger son fell asleep in the evening. Then it took me 0.01 seconds to decide I can't wait until Christmas before unwrapping the gift (Santa, please excuse my impatience). I had birthday a few days earlier so perhaps that is good enough excuse .

Unwrapping was quickly done as I had little helping hands. My elder son was as excited as I was to see what I had received.

I was amazed to find not one, not two but three great games!

I must have been really nice this year or my Santa is overwhelmingly generous. In addition to highly wanted Navegador, I received following two games that I have for a long time wanted to play:

Troyes

and

London

Thank you my Secret Santa! You are the best!

Holy crap. I was sitting in the living room working on an assignment when I hear a thud outside the door. I went to investigate and there is a massive box at my doorstep. Since I didn't place any orders, I knew this had to be from my Secret Santa. I quickly brought the box inside and opened it up. I was shocked to find 7 wrapped packages inside. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to open them, but after 5 minutes or so, I couldn't resist. Inside were: Runewars: Banners of War, 7 Wonders, Hive, Hive: The Mosquito, Neuroshima Hex!, Neuroshima Hex! Babel13, and lastly Neuroshima Hex! Duel.

A few days prior, I received a package with 25 magnets in it, leading me to believe I was receiving Hive, since I had stated that I wanted to turn Hive into a game to be played on the refrigerator. I wasn't expecting so much more. I am not sure what I did to deserve all this awesome stuff.

Thank you Secret Santa!

my secret santa rocked. This was my first time entering a secret santa ever in my life, and I was worried I was going to be dissappointed, now I am thinking the guy set the bar too high and no one will ever top this year lol. I received

with all the promos, and this game is soooo much cooler than dominion lol

God Dice
This is a really cool game, we all enjoyed it, my 6 year old was able to grasp it and have a lot of fun with us.

Barista
I know he sent this as filler and with me liking dice games and card games perhaps he thought this would be a hit, lol its totally random, no room for strategy, the only thing that wasn't just freakin awesome in the entire package.

Myth: Pantheons
haven't been able to try this one yet but I am looking very forward to it.

NFL Strategy
found out with this game that my neighbor is into football, and this might be something that we could actually have in common.

Twixt
destroyed my 7 year old lol, she couldn't seem to get that she would have to get in front of me, the wife is looking forward to trying her luck at it though.

Make 'n' Break
This game has amazingly enough been a runaway HUGE HIT. We have played it 10+ times with many different people and everyone has totally loved it.

All in all if my santa is reading this, you rock, this was totally awesome, thank you thank you thank you

My secret Santa was very generous, especially considering the expense of shipping to Hawaii. I am really happy to have the latest Dominion expansion; when I was a teacher, I introduced many students to the game in a variety of different settings (we even did an AP statistics simulation project on isotropic) and reception was universally positive. Although I often use this as an introductory game, getting new cards and strategies is always exciting for long time players like myself so thank you very much for this gift.

Last year I received the base game for secret Santa, and I really enjoyed except that I could not get it to the table often because it was only four players. With the expansion, I will be able to play it more and the new additions to the game sound promising. Once again, thank you secret Santa for your generosity. Have a Merry Christmas!

A few days ago I received a message from my Secret Santa saying that his elves had, after engaging in much debate and playtesting, decided on a gift. The only information the flustered chief elf could convey to Santa after the decision was a long and complex number that Santa fortunately remembered. Using the magic of Google to decode this number, I was able to determine that a gift had indeed been sent from the North Pole. For the last few days I have been impatiently checking the mail (we have a large box underneath our neighborhood mailboxes where the USPS places packages).

Today, as I left on a 3 mile run in sub freezing weather I checked the mailbox and discovered a package from Santa. I had the willpower to leave it until I returned from my run. At the insistence of my wife I opened the package to find a couple of wrapped items. After further insistence from my wife (who is a very impatient lady) I opened the packages.

I found some milk chocolate covered cherries, which appear to be fairly local to Santa's residence...err, I mean the North Pole. My wife didn't realize that she would be getting a gift! Great job Santa & Elves!

Beneath the wrapping of the other box I found a copy of Memoir '44! I haven't played Memoir '44 for a few years, but I do really enjoy it. My brother received it several years ago, and I have purchased several expansions for him over the years. This has been on my wishlist for a few years now, and I'm very happy to have received it. Sorry for the lack of impatience, Santa, but I have a good shot at getting it to the table this weekend now! whistle As it turns out, I'll be seeing my bro and dad this weekend. I'll have my brother bring his copy out and perhaps we'll be able to get in a large game using the Overlord rules!

Thanks again Santa! I've been diligently scouring the gamers in your area using the database to get an idea for who you might be, but so far I've gotten nowhere. Whoever you are, thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and generosity! Merry Christmas!

Pictured is my daughter-gamer-in-training, who loves playing Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride, Hey! That's my Fish!, and Magdar with watered down rules. Not pictured is my 3 year old boy who likes to sweep game pieces off the table.

Oh. My. Goodness. I am in disbelief. After I walked home from work, I came through the front door and almost fell over an alarmingly large box from Boards & Bits. Alarmingly large, and rather heavy. My Secret Santa had already given me The Road to Canterbury (yes, REALLY fun) and 1955: The War of Espionage just after Thanksgiving, with a promise of more to come. I already felt very much awash in Secret Santa generosity, but I had no idea that these were merely an apéritif before the main course.

In addition to Belfort, the box also contained Rune Age, Eruption, Undermining, 51st State, and Sekigahara: The Unification of Japan! I am truly astonished and staggered at the level of generosity here. Thank you so much.

What a Merry Christmas!

I opened my package and I found:

Runebound: The Frozen Wastes

Along with

Forbidden Island

and

Light Speed

I had guessed Light Speed, but the others I couldn't figure out!

Thanks Santa!

------
What to my surprise but a large box from Boards and Bits awaiting me when I came home.

I've promised Santa that I will not open it until Christmas, so I await the chance to see what's inside.

I do know that there are three items inside from the hints I've gotten from his helper elf

November 29th I got a note from the big guy...
Santa wrote:
Looks like after checking my list twice, you made the second cut. Elves have been dispatched to deliver your gift early. Hope you enjoy.

I have been running to check the porch every time I heard a delivery truck sleigh bells outside for several days. Today, I heard from my wife that I had received a package and could hardly wait to get home!

When I got home, this was sitting on the table:

The box was from Funagain Games and I was sure it was from my SS.
On the back of the box it was clear what was inside:

I stared at the box all through dinner and tried to remember what kind of a game Panic Station is.
I have only recently heard of it, and don't have it on my wishlist. Still, from all the times I've seen it on this list, I was excited to check it out.

After dinner, I opened the box with the help of my 5 year old son and SURPRISE!

Excellent!
My son immediately made me set it up, and pretended to play...
Spoiler (click to reveal)
and he was beating me too...

I have played this game online (boardgamearena.com), but never on a table. I really enjoy worker placement games, and can't wait to introduce this to the lunch crowd at work.

And as a fantastic added touch, Santa also included the Mayday Games Stone Age Token Set!

Santa, you rock like something that really rocks!

Thank you, and happy holidays....

So, I found a package on my doorstep this evening. Since I wasn't expecting anything else anytime soon, I assumed this had to be my Secret Santa gift..... and I was right! I opened the box and found Hex Hex sitting on top. Beneath that (and some more packing peanuts) sat Android. Two very different games, and both titles I was excited to pick up after playing them. And great timing, since I have a casual games night coming up this weekend, and I'm sure Hex Hex will be a hit with them.

Dear Secret Santa,

Thank you for putting me on your *nice* list and sending me Alien Frontiers. Your package came today. After a brief staring contest, the package won, and I ripped it open. My inner 6-year-old could wait no longer. I am really excited to play this game for the first time with some friends coming over this weekend.

Pour yourself some milk and eat some cookies for a job well done, Santa.

Thanks again!
Shawna
