Just added a new Secret Santa Poll . Head over to [geekurl=http://boardgamegeek.com/article/7924278#7924278]Week 2 Secret Santa Poll[/geekurl] to see how everyone is faring thus far in this year's event. And of course, add your votes!

ALRIGHT! It is time once again for the annual Secret Santa List, this time the 2011 Edition. For those of you who are new to the list:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order. No placeholder entries, please.

In years past this list has been heavily monitored as the gifting season approaches and I am sure the same will hold true this year.

Last year there were 1,437 unique entries spread over 58 pages. I'm curious to see how huge it grows this year. As a tip - if you go looking through the previous years' lists, please be mindful of which year you are actually posting your gift to. There have been multiple occasions of people posting a gift from the current year on the previous year's list. That would likely diminish the chances of your Secret Santa getting around to seeing it...

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2010 List"

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

does a superb job using the data from this list to create his great statistical look at the hottest gifts of the season. This year's version of his list is located at:

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2011

Last year: Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2010

Want some for your stocking? Simon also runs a Secret Santa Sweepstakes which is located at:

This year: 2011 Secret Santa Sweepstakes

Last year: 2010 Secret Santa Sweepstakes

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

If you would like to taunt your "target" while maintaining your secret identity, you can do so using the Santa logon. Just log yourself off and close any BGG windows (if you don't you take the chance of being discovered if the new username doesn't take) and log on using this info:

Username: santa
Password: password

I hope you have a terrific holiday season and enjoy the list!

SANTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are Santabulous! Santarrific! I must confess I opened the box. After receiving your BEAUTIFUL cards over the past several weeks

I could not wait to see what the elves were up to!

My dogs dutifully signaled the arrival of something on the doorstep yesterday afternoon. I picked up the box and it was HEAVY! What could it be? I tried to wait and was successful for about 10 minutes!

I opened the box to find two lovely gifts wrapped up. So I tried to wait again. This time, I was successful for about 2 minutes!

I carefully unwrapped the one on top and was surprised and amazed and excited to receive ALIEN FRONTIERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Space themed games are quite possibly my favorite as I love all things outer-space related. WOO-HOO!!!!!!!!!! Happy Dance in the kitchen!!!!!!!

But there was another gift! A HUGE one! I carefully unwrapped it and was THRILLED to find
Dungeons & Dragons: The Legend of Drizzt Board Game

SANTA!!!!!!!! I could not believe it! I have loved playing Castle Ravenloft and Wrath of Ashardalon with my group so I am THRILLED to be the proud owner of Legend of Drizzt!

This is my second year participating in BGG's Secret Santa and I continue to be amazed at just how generous everyone is. Santa(s), the holiday cards were such a great surprise (and they really are beautiful). And the games are full of win! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!

Thankyou Santa!

I was gaming with Simon from AAG on the weekend and he says something along the lines of "Oh, by the way, this is yours from your International Secret Santa" handing me a gift-wrapped box.

It shall remain wrapped until Christmas morning.

Thankyou Santa,

Dean

Edit:
-----

Thankyou Santa, Christmas has come and gone for another year and you can finally put your feet up for a while.

Incidentally, it might have been due to your ribbing of us poor antipodes that caused the Aussies to beat India in the Boxing Day test (be careful during your deliveries to the sub-continent next year).

Anyway.

Many thanks for Imperial 2030 considering how often its predecessor hits the table I think this will see a great eal of pla.

Merry Christmas

Although I love and cherish Christmas as a time of family reunions, reflection, relaxation and (lots of!) good food, receiving gifts has been on the slide ever since I grew up. Every year my family asks me what they should get me and it is a struggle to come up with an answer. After all, now that I'm a grown-up, whenever I need something, I just buy it and so I have everything I need.

I had no idea that receiving a gift via the BGG Secret Santa would bring tears to my eyes. I am moved to the absolute bottom of my heart and feel so grateful to my Secret Santa that no words can do justice to how I feel.

I did in fact receive the package almost a week ago, but since I am currently moving from one home to another, I had to let it sit on the shelf because I knew I wouldn't be able to properly enjoy opening it in all this madness (I didn't plan to wait until Christmas).

Even though I still hadn't finished unpacking, my friend and his son insisted on visiting me today. Since we almost always play a round or two of some boardgame I have, we started discussing which game to play this time when it suddenly hit me - hey, I have a BGG Secret Santa package waiting to be opened! As I was opening the package, I was saying that I hope it would be "Dixit Odyssey" since I'd really like to add some additional cards to my original "Dixit" game which we all love - and lo and behold, it WAS "Dixit Odyssey" in the box! Maybe Santa was reading my mind and even if there was another game in the box, he used his magic to change that game into "Dixit Odyssey" as I was opening the package! Not only that, but the game also had the extra bunny promo card attatched to it - which I hadn't even heard about!

As I was taking "Dixit Odyssey" out of the cardboard box, I remember having a sliver of a thought thinking it would also have been nice to get "7 Wonders", which had actually secretly been my number one wish this year (since my friends don't know the game, I never said it out loud). But immediately I was ashamed for having such a selfish thought, since I had just received a fantastic game which I had been looking forward to and which would bring fun and enjoyment to everyone for many gaming nights to come. We can always add both kids and grandparents at a game of "Dixit" and it is one of the most accessible yet engaging games I've ever encountered. On the other hand "7 Wonders" was a secret crush of mine which nobody knew anything about - I had played it only once some six months ago at a gaming camp and had been secretly in love ever since.

Yet as I took the "Dixit Odyssey" out of the box, I suddenly saw another game in the box - and it was "7 Wonders"! I am now a firm believer - Santa really does exist. Reading my mind not once but twice and responding to those thoughts the very instant they occurred by placing the game I was just thinking about into the box I was in the process of opening - that cannot be a coincidence. On top of that, there was a message in the box with best wishes from my Secret Santa, who turns out to be a fellow photographer as well (I wonder how he knew that? Did he go to my photo gallery website at http://antonipildid.net or did he google my name or was it just another display of Santa magic?). Also there was a black horse meeple - I'm assuming it can be used to mark the storyteller in "Dixit"? And also a smart little photographer tool to set correct white balance with a neutral grey card - I'll be sure to use it on my next assignment.

This time my BGG Secret Santa truly was Santa himself and all I can do is express my sincerest of gratitude because this truly is the best Christmas gift I've received in years. Happy holidays everyone!

This year it was the most exciting secret Santa I've ever received.
In the morning the postman rang me and as soon as I saw the big pack he was carrying I immediately thought it was a mistake.
But when I opened the big box I found inside a lot of garbage it was very funny.
Eventually browsing through the rubbish I found two big wrapped gifts and a little bag of sweets.

I was laughing like a child on his Christmas eve.

My incredible Santa, this year really loved me.

I received two games that I really loved to have, the packaging was also well done, I love my Secret Santa.

I was plenty of joy when I saw my two gifts.

I had a day's leave on Friday, so I wasn't in the office when my package arrived. I went to collect it today and, contrary to my practice of the last couple of years, decided to open it straightaway.

Woohoo!

Thanks, Secret Santa! What a generous gift! Not only a copy of Kingdom Builder, but also a copy of The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game

Thank you from the Northern Hemisphere to the Southern Hemisphere! And there was a bonus in the box - some Shire Games Christmas chocolate! I'll try to keep all three of these items unopened until Christmas Day.

Sitting on the couch this Saturday I was glad to hear my dog barking at the door. My Secret Santa had given me a heads up earlier in the week so I knew it was my Secret Santa gift! I was happy to see Notre Dame, I know it is a very good classic and recently put it on my wishlist after hearing about it o, a million times in various places on the geek. Not only was Notre Dame in the box, but after a bit of digging I also saw...

Onirim
From what I have read this is a very clever solitaire type game that I am very anxious to try, probably tonight !

Thank you very much Santa! And as an added bonus...my Secret Santa said there is another box coming from across seas! I am not so sure that I have ever even bought MYSELF something from across the pond...can't wait to see what is in store!

EDIT: Early on the exchange my SS contacted me and asked me to add more to my wishlist, and after that they than specifically asked me if I wanted this certain game. Not wanting to sound rude I politely told them I never heard of it and didn't know much about it, but if it meant extra gifts, who am I to deny Santa?

So, in perfect timing the package I have been waiting for from Europe arrived the day before Christmas. I waited just one extra day and finally dug in to my what MUST have been an Essen release, coming from Europe and all. I open up the package and it was Blood Bowl: Team Manager – The Card Game!

Now, I can't figure out two things:
1) Why was SS so insistent on this being a part of my gift when it was never on any of my lists?
2) Why did this particular game have to come from Europe when it is readily available right here in the States, where the rest of the order came from?

Well, at the risk of sounding rude now I would tell future Secret Santas to stay in a geeks' wishlist unless you plan to exceed the $50 budget BGG has set devil

Having said that I would like to thank my SS one last time for my awesome gifts, even though I thought an Essen release was coming and Blood Bowl was not on my wishlist, I hope to enjoy them immensely soon!

Happy Holidays!

I had a birthday last week, and it was on that day that I got an email from a friendly online game store stating that my secret santa gift was in the mail. Such excitement!

The package was set to arrive on Friday. I usually work from home, but that day I went into the office. After work, I met up with my wife for dinner and she said the package arrived. I tried to get some details out of her about the box, but she kept me in suspense until we got home.

I didn't get any messages from Santa about waiting until Christmas, so I opened the box!

There among the white, snow-like peanuts was Navegador and ZÈRTZ!

A friend of mine was visiting from out of town, so the following morning we decided to give ZÈRTZ a shot. We have played other games from the GIPF series together before, so we figured this would be easy to pick up.

After a quick read through of the rules, we got to it. We started by making moves that seemed semi-random, and it wasn't until near the middle of the first game did we start having those AHA moments where the "how" of the game clicks into place. Bottom line: ZÈRTZ is tense, elegant and awesome, and I can't wait to play it again!

Another thing to mention was that I was eyeballing ZÈRTZ on a geekauction, and I thought to myself, "Self, you better wait until after secret santa to bid." I'm glad I did!

As far as Navegador is concerned, I was able to read through the rules this weekend, but it will have to wait until one of my usual game nights to be played.

THANK YOU SO MUCH SECRET SANTA!!!

I came home to find two packages waiting for me. One was for a copy of Survive: Escape from Atlantis! and Survive: Escape from Atlantis! 5-6 Player Mini Expansion that I won in the November Games for Lottery. The other was obviously from my Secret Santa. Now the games from Santa were wrapped in Christmas paper, but there wasn't a note or anything indicating that I should wait until the 25th to open them. So open them I did. Inside I found a copy of The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game and The Resistance

I'm probably going to be playing less Magic the Gathering in the near future for financial reasons so this should be a good substitute for my friend Dave and I when we get together for 2p sessions. I've never played any LCGs before but I love the concept.

"I don't have to spend hundred's of dollars on new cards every year to stay competitive? Sign me up!"

The Resistance is a game that I was on the fence about since my main game group doesn't particularly like co-op games or deductive traitor based games. But I took it along to game night last Thursday and everyone seemed to be interested in playing it.

Thanks Santa!

So my santa got me four things, and has been a wonderfully fun Santa who I even had the unique opportunity to provide tourism advice for. Unfortunately, his scheme was ruined by the store he bought them from. I received in the box three games, two wrapped and Troyes.

Inside were cards with specific instructions -- I could unwrap one, wait two weeks for the other, and then finally on Christmas day I would have permission to unwrap Troyes, alas it came pre-unwrapped.

I have pledged to leave the other two wrapped under the tree, and will add a subsequent post when I know what they are.

Santa also got me Labyrinth direct from GMT, which is a scary looking game but Santa proposes its better than Twilight Struggle because of its asymmetrical aspects, so I am looking forward to trying it.

Troyes is amazing - definitely my favorite of 2011.

I opened the other two and I got Space Alert and 51st State -- can't wait to try them both! Thank you Santa!

Thanks again Santa!

Happy Holidays everyone!

Hello Santa,
Sorry for the slow reply. I have been on the road for the last three weeks. I got home on Friday to check my mailbox and your package was there for me along with an envelope from the Netherlands.

I am not opening anything until Christmas Eve. Thank you so much for the gift. It will be the only gift I receive this year and it means a lot to me.

December 24th evening is the tradition in our family to open presents.I have been dying to find out what Santa sent to me. I was delighted to find two boxes inside that big box. Hansa Teutonica was in there to my delight. I now have an excuse to visit my FLGS on Boxing Day to pick up the expansion.

In additon was a small wrapped box containing:

Finally, the envelope, which contained:

This is the Catan Island for 7 Wonders. I got Manniken Piss from the BGG store so now my 7 Wonders game is almost complete. I only need the Stevie Wonder Leader promo to finish it off.

I intend to have a blast with all of the games. Thanks so much Santa.

My Secret Santa presents actually arrived several weeks ago. I had my partner wrap them for me, with the intention of waiting until Christmas to open them. Fortunately, I was "allowed" to open them early, so now I am the proud new owner of:

Eminent Domain

and also Belfort!

Thanks so much Santa! These will get played frequently at our Friday gaming sessions!

This year I signed up for both "normal" secret santa and wargaming secret santa.

Somehow my santas contacted each other and sent me a single package containing Bitter Woods Deluxe . Before that, they sent me a geekmail asking me if it was ok to do that, I just told them that they could do anything they wanted.

So, thanks a lot guys, you thought that I was going to like my gift, and you were right kiss
