Just added a new Secret Santa Poll . Head over to [geekurl=http://boardgamegeek.com/article/7924278#7924278]Week 2 Secret Santa Poll[/geekurl] to see how everyone is faring thus far in this year's event. And of course, add your votes!

ALRIGHT! It is time once again for the annual Secret Santa List, this time the 2011 Edition. For those of you who are new to the list:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order. No placeholder entries, please.

In years past this list has been heavily monitored as the gifting season approaches and I am sure the same will hold true this year.

Last year there were 1,437 unique entries spread over 58 pages. I'm curious to see how huge it grows this year. As a tip - if you go looking through the previous years' lists, please be mindful of which year you are actually posting your gift to. There have been multiple occasions of people posting a gift from the current year on the previous year's list. That would likely diminish the chances of your Secret Santa getting around to seeing it...

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2010 List"

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

does a superb job using the data from this list to create his great statistical look at the hottest gifts of the season. This year's version of his list is located at:

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2011

Last year: Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2010

Want some for your stocking? Simon also runs a Secret Santa Sweepstakes which is located at:

This year: 2011 Secret Santa Sweepstakes

Last year: 2010 Secret Santa Sweepstakes

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

If you would like to taunt your "target" while maintaining your secret identity, you can do so using the Santa logon. Just log yourself off and close any BGG windows (if you don't you take the chance of being discovered if the new username doesn't take) and log on using this info:

Username: santa
Password: password

I hope you have a terrific holiday season and enjoy the list!

Just arrived back from overseas to find a parcel from Santa waiting for me. It lasted just 6 hours before curiousity got the better of me and I ripped on the No Peeking wrapping paper from Unhalfbricking Games.

Inside I found that my super-ninja SS had been very kind to me, and as well as Reef Encounter they had also given me Money!
The Knizia game that is - not the thing Auntie gives you when she can't think of anything else.

Although SS had gone rather far down my Wishlist, I am really looking forward to playing this - its not something I would necessarily have bought for myself (too engrossed in the cult of the new), but I am really glad Santa did. This looks like a great tile-laying brain-burning epic in the mould of T&E - one of my favourite games, but much more playable with two.

Besides, what more appropriate game to play on Christmas Day in the land of the Great Barrier Reef...

Thank you, Santa

I had an unexpected package waiting on the doorstep when I got home this evening. It seemed that my super-ninja SS hadn't forgotten about me! meeple

Inside the box was a copy of 7 Wonders! Really looking forward to trying this one--it will be my first drafting-type game (at least since the height of my Magic playing days!). As if that wasn't enough, also in the box was Shear Panic, a game I've wanted for a long, long time!

Thanks so much Secret Santa, you've made it a Merry gaming Christmas!

Wow. Where do I start? First and foremost, I thought my gift was a joke. The box arrived and it was the size of my body. I had mentioned in the ss forum that I was expecting a heavy box but not something so big. I laughed when I saw it by the entryway. Secondly, I open the box and see wrapping paper that says "happy birthday" and I suddenly question whether or not the right package was delivered. I glanced over the side of the box and definitely see my name on it. I thought whoever my santa was, they had a mind like my own (I give out sympathy cards all the time for friends' birthdays). I dig around in the box and notice a normal sized game box and immediately know it is Dominion: Hinterlands (addicts know the feel of their boxes!), but the other two boxes are quite large.

I get to thinking and realize "Oh hey, I asked for Claustrophobia! Yes!" So I rip the paper off (I couldn't hold out until Christmas or my birthday.... I never get wrapped gifts!) and I'm right! I'm super excited at this point. I've been eying both of these games for awhile now and I was super happy they showed up.

Edit: I forgot to mention that my Santa purposely sent birthday wrapping because he saw that my birthday was in January. I sometimes forget about it myself and suddenly everything clicked when my fiance said, "Well, your birthday is in January, did he have a way of finding that out?" .... duh.

I find a note, some candy (squee), and that last ridiculously huge present. What could it be? I was trying to think of everything on my wishlist but nothing was this size or near it. I thought maybe he threw the 7 Wonders expansion into a huge box or something.

Well, I go for it, and as you can tell by my geeklist entry, it was the all mighty and ridiculously huge Fortune and Glory: The Cliffhanger Game. My mind was officially blown. My Santa went above and beyond anything I ever expected and I cannot thank him enough. I'm not sure if he wants me to mention who he is but he seems like a pretty awesome part of the community here.

This has been an absolutely amazing experience and it's made my first secret santa/ year on BGG something to remember.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS BEEN SO AWESOME DURING THIS PROCESS!

For each of the past three years I've participated in the Secret Santa gift exchange and each year I'm amazed by how generous my Secret Santa has been. Thank You oh so soooo much Santa for the awsome, wonderful, exciting games!!!

This year I completely lost track of time and failed to update my wishlist in time for the Secret Santa event to begin. Once I realized things had started I posted a message in my profile for Santa. I asked for a couple more days to update my list and a few days later I posted a second update to let Santa know I was done.

The next day, Nov. 23rd I received my first geekmail from Santa. I was very excited to know my Santa had already read my profile.

A few days later I received another message from Santa. This time Santa told me things were in the works and that a gift should be arriving soon.

Next thing I knew another message from Santa was in my inbox and this time Santa was letting me know his elves dressed in brown would be stopping by late this week. I was told to follow the instructions on EACH box. My goodness, could that mean more than 1 box or would there be a box inside a box inside a box. Needless to say it was a VERY long week I couldn't wait for today to come.

Sure enough I get home from work tonight and the elves had not arrived yet but within the hour they were knocking on my door.

As Santa said in the message I was to follow the instructions on each box. The front box says OPEN NOW 1 of 2. Who am I not to listen to Santa? So I grabbed my little monsters and opened the fist box.

Inside the box was a Christmas card and not one but two wrapped games. My son opened the card and read it aloud. Next thing I know each on them has a game and they're tearing into them. A chip off the ole block My son was so fast I missed getting a picture of him tearing off the wrapping paper.

When I realized what he had opened I couldn't believe my eyes. Attika was the only game I had as a 1 on my wishlist. I don't know if Santa had one laying around or how s/he got their hands on it but this is AWSOME! My daughter tore off the paper and I explained to her the game she had just opened. The kids then grabbed the second box which had been labeled OPEN NOW 2 of 2 and that's what they did. Inside the second box was yet a third wrapped game surprise

I let the kids share in opening the third package and then sent them off to bed. I then placed the games back in front of the tree for another picture.

The second game opened was Wasabi! a game that was a 2 on my wishlist. I hope this is something my wife will enjoy playing. It hasn't been on my wishlist for long so I was very excited to have a copy on hand to play this holiday season.

The third game the kids opened was Factory Fun. Another game rated a 2 on my wishlist. This one is going to be a great game to play at our next monthly game night.

I am very excited to get these games on the table!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU SANTA!!!

I had a package come today from Boards and Bits. I knew I hadn't ordered anything from them and my wife actually said she never heard of them so I knew one of Santa's elves was driving the Fedex truck. I couldn't wait to get home from work to open it. (cause I knew I would not want to go to work if I opened it first. I pulled out Hansa Teutonica and noticed that there was another piece of brown cardboard under it, which was too high up to be the bottom of the box. I lifted the cardboard and there underneath it was Blue Moon City.

Now the only question is which one gets played first.

So, I actually wake up in the morning to a knock at my back door; it is my neighbor upstairs with a package for me. A PACKAGE? YES!

And what was inside?

This was absolutely fantastic. That morning was my one year anniversary with my boyfriend, and it's been a little rough financially lately so there were no presents exchanged. This definitely solved that little problem.

THANK YOU SANTA.

Also, I'm going to reply to this post with more information because I don't want to mess up the statisticians on these forums.

Of course I can't take great pictures... but who can?

and I picked them up from there - as part of a crazy day which has resulted in a four-and-a-half hour trip to my parent's house taking closer to 8 hours. We were detoured because a truck carrying meat fat spilled its load on the highway, gulp

TWO wrapped gifts, and a chocolate Santa! And now I only have another week to wait to open them... zombie

My Santa has been awesome, sending me not one but FOUR poems. And when I say poems, I mean full six-verse works of art, not rude stories about a man from Nantucket.

Thanks Santa! I'll update the post on Christmas Day.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

CHRISTMAS DAY EDIT:

Wow! Thanks Secret Santa! I opened your two packages to find...

A two-player game just perfect for us, and....

an awesome party game, great for big groups over Christmas!

wow wow wow

I tried to decode your final poem before opening the gifts, but I still had no idea what to expect! We were duly surprised!

Thank you very much, and I hope that your Christmas goes as well as mine has. You have truly added some magic to our Christmas. thumbsup

Whoa ho ho!!! Santa must have seen that I had finally gotten into the right spirit and donned my Christmas sweater for the first time this year. Amazing. And a little creepy (am I being watched?) whistle

It so happened that I am not currently at home (I'm being a good boy helping/visiting my mother who is recovering from a hip replacement surgery), but I got a text from my girlfriend saying that a package arrived for me. I knew it had to be from my Secret Santa, so I had my girlfriend open it for me. I couldn't stand not knowing what was in the box. I'm weak willed. I know. blush She sent me the following photo:

I was so excited to see not one, but three games and a bunny meeple (beeple?)!
I can't wait to play all these games, including ones I'm less familiar with but look great:
Eminent Domain

and
Famiglia

Thank you, Santa!

Just opened my present (which arrived a while back) so Santa deserves more kudos for efficiency than this place on the list indicates.

And it was a nicely wrapped copy of Chinatown! Thanks a load Santa! I've been looking for this game for ages - and you not only find a copy for me, but a copy new in shrink! Truly brilliant!

And, as a surprise bonus, a copy of The Resistance fell out the package too! Thanks again!

I guarantee that Chinatown will be un-shrinkified and played by the end of the day...

This years secret santa has been my first secret santa ever and it has been great fun. I was lucky that my secret santa got the time and dedication to send me three different christmas spirits.
the ghost of chistmas past,
the ghost of christmas yet to come,
and billy (?!)
every one had a little task i had to fulfill. these task all had to do with bbg or gaming in general. i wont list all of them, but one was to give "thumbs" for articles i had read. so santa not only made me be exited for the gift i may get, he also made me think about all the joy i had browsing bgg and to appreciate this great community. the second ghost gifted me a microbadge! i haven't had one before.
thank you a lot for this, santa. for sure i will copy your technique for my next target next year ^^

so what did i get? the mailman woke me up this morning to bring me a big box. In it were not ONE but TWO great games:

they are perfect for the holidays with my family!
thanks again and merry christmas 2 all of you!

IT HAS ENDED...

My Santa hinted that there would be three gifts arriving this year, and the first one dropped onto the doormat this morning.

Nice.

EDIT: I have now also received Mr Jack in New York. Cool one Santa. There may be a third one to come, but even if there isn't, this is still my best Secret Santa yet!

SECOND EDIT: OK, it took another month, but the last bit of my gift is finally here! Hive, the Ladybug will make an excellent addition to the set and hopefully allow me to beat my wife at this infernal game for once!

Here is a photo of me demonstrating a) my Secret Santa gifts, b) my horrible wallpaper which we meant to change years ago but never got around to, c) the fact that I haven't shaved for a couple of days, and d) the principle that I look like a gurning moron whenever a photo is taken of me.

Thank you Santa! Obviously you're a big fan of 2P games as well!

Man, I am a total noob here.blushblushblush

Got my present 3 weeks ago but didn't realise I had to post a message here.

Anyways, Thanks Santa for the gifts, two gifts.
They are lying there, under the Xmas-tree for three weeks now and it is getting harder for me not to tear the gift wrap off and look what is inside.

Willpower is something I need, perhaps there is a bit of this in the presents.

Thank you Santa, Thank You, I will be a good boy from now on!!!!!

EDIT

And just now I found out, Santa wrote me a letter as well, but my wife intersepted it and gave it a gift wrap too, soo i have to wait for that as well.

On the other hand I am a lucky guy, I dont have one Secret Santa, I have two, lucky me!!!!!

So Thanks to Santa again, and thanks to his little helper

Edit on 25th December

He gave me
The Yggdrasil Boardgame including the Frigg promo card

The tannhauser expansion Mizu

And last but not least
The expasion for Python Fluxx and the sir not apearing in this game expansion

Let me start by saying this is my first year to sign up for BGG’s Secret Santa, however, this is not my first experience with the Secret Santa gift exchange. Last year, a call was made asking for help when a Secret Santa was unable to send a gift to their target. I was happy to oblige and vowed to sign up for the 2011 Secret Santa. I did! And here are the results……

My Secret Santa sent me a message to let me know a box would be arriving very soon. Oh the anticipation!!!

THE BOX!!!

At this point, I post a message in my profile indicating that the box made it and do I dare open it before Christmas Day?

My Secret Santa double-dog dared me to open the box. So...

Excellent packing job!

BUT WAIT...WHO IS THAT PEERING FROM THE BOX? (Kid you not, when I removed the packing material, Santa popped up into position to greet me.)

By this time, my cheeks were hurting from smiling so much!! I felt like a little kid, full of wonder and excitement as I looked into the box.

My Secret Santa gave me Letters from Whitechapel which I believe is OOP. Every time I've visited my local gaming stores, I always search for a copy. I think the artwork is beautiful and the creepy factor is right up my alley.

The next three games (oh Santa, you are too good to me!) in the box were:
Travel Carcassonne
Tantrix(OOP?)
Magnet(OOP?)

I love puzzle/abstract games and my Secret Santa just amazed me with his/her selection of gifts. I can't wait to play!!!!! I truly thank you for making this a wonderful, unforgettable experience.

But wait, Charlie seems a bit uneasy sitting among the presents...why does he look so intently at the Letters from Whitechapel game? Could the game be making him uneasy or is it something...or someone else?

It seems my Secret Santa is so secret that even my wife took this thing seriously. During the week I kept asking if the box had arrived or not and even today I said 'but it should have arrived by now'... and finally she said "Okay, I can't bear it anymore. Yes, a box has arrived but it's secret so it's hidden now. I'm going to put it under the tree."

So I will know what I got (I don't even know the size of the box yet) on Christmas Eve. Until then... I'm waiting.

Edit: so I got Puerto Rico Anniversary Edition! Yes! It's a beautiful edition that contains all the expansions as well, and everything looks great, it's just a perfect edition of this great game! Thank you Secret Santa, Thank you very, very much!

Edit 2. it seems for some strange reason I never added what I also got from Secret Santa. I got a postcard, a box of chocolates from (as far as I remember) the oldest chocolate shop of Canada and some fine smoked salmon - as it was best before April 2013 we ate it for this Christmas.

I had been anticipating the arrival of my packages from my Secret Santa after being taunted about them arriving soon. I came home yesterday to find a large package placed on my porch. I eagerly opened the door, rushed in, and opened the package.

I had worked really hard on my wish list this year, only asking for games that I wanted and knew could be found. Never in a million years did I expect my Secret Santa to go above and beyond and find two games I have been looking for but didn't put on my list simply because I thought they would be too difficult to find. My Secret Santa sure hit the ball out of the park on this one! He found two amazing games that will provide me and my friends with hours and hours of play time. Thank you, Secret Santa. These games are the crowning jewels of my collection.

P.S. He also sent a note that there are more games to come. I sure do hope a My Little Pony game is in my future.

Just when I was beginning to think I had too many 'naughty' ticks next to my name, there was a geekmail taunt and suddenly just yesterday, a large box arrived at my door! Thanks Santa, for the hours of gaming I intend to spend painting my new little figures and conquering my little Greek islands. You're the BEST!

Santa! My Dad just emailed me to let me know that my Secret Santa gift had arrived! I won't even be there for a few days, so I told him to get it under the tree to wait for Christmas. My Mom sent a follow up email saying that the packages came wrapped, and were under the tree and there were a lot of them! I'm so excited

December 21st Edit:
I just got to Michigan, and my parents had my box ready for me to open.

I got the games out, put them under the tree, took a picture then ate the cookies and the hand-dipped chocolate. How did Santa know that toffee is my FAVORITE thing EVER! YUM!

December 25th edit:

So, Santa, I have to admit something. As soon as I set out the packages for the initial picture, I knew what the little box was. I work at Snakes & Lattes, a boardgame cafe, so I handle games for a living and the little box was very recognizable to me. Survive: Escape from Atlantis! 5-6 Player Mini Expansion!! When packing games to bring to my parents for Christmas, I had wracked my brain over whether I should bring Survive. Since I didn't have the expansion and it would only play four, so I shouldn't bring it... but I did, since I knew the boys would love it. Well, imagine how excited I got when I realized what was in that box!!! No one let me open it until I absolutely needed to, which was earlier than the others. I admit that I opened it on December 23rd and was too busy to come online and post. My mom's best friend came over with his family on Christmas Eve and she has 3 young boys and they are now HUGE Survive fans! It was a brutal game, but I edged out because I was able to bring my 4, 5 and 6 to safety, along with two 1s. We had too much fun that I even forgot to take a picture. When they were getting ready to leave, they even asked if they could come back to play more of our games before Andrew and I go back to Toronto.

Now on to the second two packages. They had me stumped! The big one was a generic box size and I couldn't remember exactly what I had asked for with that size of box and I avoided looking at my wishlist so I wouldn't spoil it and I couldn't guess the medium one for the life of me. Andrew and I decided he would open the medium one and I would open the big one.

He unwrapped half the package and grinned at me while blocking what it actually was with the wrapping paper. When he actually let me see what it was, I saw Bohnanza I definitely wasn't expecting what was inside, but I was definitely happy! I had actually been considering buying it as one of the gifts for my family, for us to play on vacations, so I am glad to now have it for that purpose!! We have played it once before and got a total kick out of the game, so what a great addition to our collection! Thank you, Santa!

I let out a giant squeal when I opened the big package! Ghost Stories: Black Secret!! I totally did NOT expect it to be this, because I thinking it was the size of the White Moon expansion, so imagine my surprise! Ghost Stories is one of my rated 10 games and I couldn't be more excited to be able to play with 5 players and have one player be Wu-Fang. We play and love a lot of games that have traitors or one vs all, so I have very high hopes for this expansion! I didn't even know it was out in North America yet!!! WOW! Santa, you definitely took my breathe away and made my Christmas. Thank you so much. I only wish I still had some of that toffee left

I normally include pictures of my kitties with things like this, but since I am at my parents, I will post a picture of Amani, their 11-month old puppy, on her first Christmas!
