Just added a new Secret Santa Poll . Head over to [geekurl=http://boardgamegeek.com/article/7924278#7924278]Week 2 Secret Santa Poll[/geekurl] to see how everyone is faring thus far in this year's event. And of course, add your votes!

ALRIGHT! It is time once again for the annual Secret Santa List, this time the 2011 Edition. For those of you who are new to the list:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order. No placeholder entries, please.

In years past this list has been heavily monitored as the gifting season approaches and I am sure the same will hold true this year.

Last year there were 1,437 unique entries spread over 58 pages. I'm curious to see how huge it grows this year. As a tip - if you go looking through the previous years' lists, please be mindful of which year you are actually posting your gift to. There have been multiple occasions of people posting a gift from the current year on the previous year's list. That would likely diminish the chances of your Secret Santa getting around to seeing it...

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2010 List"

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

does a superb job using the data from this list to create his great statistical look at the hottest gifts of the season. This year's version of his list is located at:

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2011

Last year: Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2010

Want some for your stocking? Simon also runs a Secret Santa Sweepstakes which is located at:

This year: 2011 Secret Santa Sweepstakes

Last year: 2010 Secret Santa Sweepstakes

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

If you would like to taunt your "target" while maintaining your secret identity, you can do so using the Santa logon. Just log yourself off and close any BGG windows (if you don't you take the chance of being discovered if the new username doesn't take) and log on using this info:

Username: santa
Password: password

I hope you have a terrific holiday season and enjoy the list!

I just had FedEx trip up my front step. After he picked himself up, he handed me a BIG box from Cool Stuff Inc and wished me a happy holiday.

My wife tried to convince me to wait until the Solstice to open the box, but my 3 year old's excitement to see what was inside overruled the wife ;-)

Inside, I found an extremely generous assortment of games :-)

The first thing we pulled out of the box was Ascension: Return of the Fallen, which means I'll have an excuse to bring to bring Ascension out again to my Dominion-loving friends.

Second item was Carcassonne, which my gamenight has been sadly lacking for years and I look forward to introducing new players to it :-D

The third item was Dixit, which I have loved since I first played it several years ago at a coffee shop. I will probably take it to a Solstice party I'm going to tonight with (mostly) non-gamers.

The last item made me giddy and the cover of which made my daughter go "ooh..." was Discworld: Ankh-Morpork. I am a HUGE Discworld fan and fell in love with this game when I played an advanced copy with friends months back.

I am extremely excited to get these new games and I'll be inflicting them on my gamenight over the following weeks.

Thank you, Santa. You have made my Christmahannukwanzasolstibodhikah awesome :-D

I hope that the rest of you have Santas even half as generous as mine was.

I received my gift! Actually, I should say my gifts!

Last Thursday, I received a call at work from my girlfriend saying that there was a package waiting for me at the post office. I knew it was Secret Santa, as (s)he broke his/her Super Silent Ninja Santa state a few days before to let me know that the package was on its way.

I finished a few important tasks in a hurry, jumped on my bike, and ride like the wind to home to catch the precious paper before rushing again to the post office. Thankfully, the package was the right size to fit at the back of my bike.

Once back home, I saw on the box that Secret Santa was from the neighbor country: Sweden! How cool is that? I could not resist but to open the box. And inside was a gift wrapped box. By touching it a bit more carefully, I realized it contained actually two boxes! A "ticket to ride"-sized on and under a smaller one. I was intrigued.

Now, I told my girlfriend a few weeks ago that if Secret Santa decided to wrap the gifts, I would not open them until the week end before Christmas (we will be in France visiting family on Christmas so I wanted to give me a chance not to die of restlessness and have to wait until 2012). Luckily, it was only 2 days away! But boy, how long have these 2 days been shake. At the same time, my cat was enjoying a lot the Swedish cardboard.

So today was the day! I know what was inside! Shadows over Camelot and Shadows over Camelot: Merlin's Company! Yeah! Thank you so much Secret Santa! I wanted to play this game for a looong time! And with the expansion I will be able to invite even more friends to play!

And for those of you who like comedy and the legends of King Arthur and his knights, here is a small trailer of an hilariously good French sitcom (with English subtitles)

Santa was incredibly efficient this year... a gift arrived in the mail in the first week of December. A friendly taunt from Santa a few days before let me know something was on the way. I decided to play the fun game of waiting until Christmas to open my gift, since this was the first time I had received a present so early.

Well that lasted until this weekend...

Inside the gift that I could not wait to open I found a copy of Shards of the throne. What a wonderful gift. It is a good thing I opened it because we are planing a day long game of TI3 for my birthday next weekend.

But wait, there was more. I also found a wonderful copy of

The Gamer's Deck. I can't wait to get this out on the table.

Thank you Santa!! Whomever you may be...

Pardon for this late entry as my trip back in the US plus work made it difficult to place this entry upon arrival of Santa's gifts. So bear with me

Wow! Just wow. This is my 1st Secret Santa in BGG and I'm not sure what to expect. A fellow BGG user here in the Philippines joined the last two previous Secret Santa and felt the experience as and I quote him "Meh! Kinda ok". Thats why he did not join this year's Secret Santa. So, with decrease expectations, I await to see what's coming my way.....

My Secret santa is so AWESOME!! I was visiting my in-laws and attending a workshop in the US from Nov 19-Dec 9. I left instructions at my secret santa info that I will be there in the event that its more convenient to ship there. Boy! Did he ever push thru!

Upon arrival at my in-laws the night before Thanksgiving, my mom-in-law said that a package arrived for me. Lo and behold there were two presents inside the big box!

My SS also sent a message that ANOTHER package is on its way. I was just taken a back... NO WaY! Its too much. It arrived around the 1st week of December and inside was the other gift wrapped package! Now, I really wanted to keep them wrapped all the way to the Philippines but on the eve of our departure, our bags are running tight. (Curse you black friday! Your sales and deals got me to splurging on my trip! )

So, with excitement, I ripped into the presents starting with the 2 from the 1st batch. It was Ghost Stories: Black Secrets! Being a GHost Stories fan, I'm happy to complete the boxed sets. Now to track the last two promos and it will be complete!

The second one rounded out the horror theme from my Secret Santa's workshop. It's Mansions of Madness: The Silver Tablet!

Lastly, with a beating heart, I opened the last one. According to my Secret Santa, its out of my wishlist and special to his heart. It's Summonaria!

I looked it over and saw its Made in the USA! Plus points for that as I find it refreshing to get Made in the US games in the US as we all know a lot are made in China these days.

As I packed them in my bags, I swore that I will open the shrink on Christmas day. This is the best Secret Santa I have participated so far!So thank you, Secret Santa for proving my friend wrong. You know who you are! (Hint: He's either one of the designer or artist of one of the games I have received! An autograph on your game would have been nice laugh )

On another note, how do I add a link to my profile page??

My Santa didn't really taunt, but let me know he/she was out there. I knew the tracking number, so I was pretty excited about the package that arrived yesterday. When I got home, I had several boxes waiting on the porch. Found the one that looked like it could be from my Santa. I was going to wait until Christmas, but Santa didn't say I had to so....

Open the box to find

Mini FITS by Ravensburger, Elder Sign by FFG and one of my most wanted, Legend of Drizzt!!!!

Thank you so much to my Santa! You outdid yourself and I really appreciated the nice little touch of some "Ballpark" Mustard from Ohio!!! Woot for that!

This was my first Secret Santa and all I can say is "wow". My Santa was a shining example of what this BGG Secret Santa was all about. Not only did Santa get me awesome games that I really wanted but also took the time to learn all about my family and send them gifts as well. Santa included games for my 2 1/2 year old son as well as some stuff for the new baby we have coming in July. Santa also sent all kinds of goodies for all of us as well as some gifts for my wife. Actually, Ticket to Ride was specifically chosen as a game that my wife would like as well. Santa also included my own personal gifts:

It's been a rough year for our family this year. I had to have emergency surgery this spring, and without insurance the medical bills were getting to us. My wife and I decided to not do gifts this year because of finances.

I felt really guilty with that decision because I had already bought my Secret santa more than I should have and now I wouldn't be able to do the same for the love of my life.

It was going to be a pretty empty tree this year, when Santa came to the rescue! We came home on Friday to find a mysterious box from Amazon. WE didn't know what it was so we opened it to find a really thoughtful bundle of Baby books that Mrs. Claus and their one year old son helped pick out. It was really sweet. We had no idea who it was from at first.

Then today we got a box from Coolstuffinc. I knew I hadn't ordered anything so i made my wife open the box to see if it was giftwrapped. It wasn't so I made her seal up the box and hide it from me until Christmas.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart Secret Santa. This year it means a lot to me that you went the extra mile. In addition to our finances we are expecting our first Child in May. We're ecstatic, worried, and excited. Seeing that someone else cared and thought of us beyond the call of Duty Makes us feel like it will be all okay.

Merry Christmas to you from our Family. The gifts are a blessing that will mean a tree with joy and hope under it.

And that's the story of how BGG saved my Christmas

EDIT: I also just received yesterday a BGG Dominion Expansion in the mail. I didn't order any myself so I can only assume that MY Santa is at work again. THANKS AGAIN!

EDIT AGAIN: I opened the gift (S!) today and I was blown away. As if my Secret santa hadn't done enough already I was excited to open the Game Catacombs, not only that there was the expansion, Catacombs: Cavern of Soloth. How cool is that!!

But wait! There's more. My wife pulled a fast one on me and hid the OTHER box. I opened it, and amazingly there was a hard to find and awesome game that I've been drooling over for a long time. I got a copy of Automobile

A very Merry Christmas indeed. Now, I'm going to put on stickers and read rulebooks for a get together tomorrow.

Here are some pictures:

Although my Secret Santa didn't taunt me, I was confident that he/she was out there, working over my wishlist and figuring out what game I might enjoy.

A couple days ago, I got a note on my mailbox that a package had arrived for me. It did occur to me that it might be my Secret Santa gift, though it could've been a couple other packages I was expecting. I stopped by the building's leasing office, and picked up a box from Amazon.com. That ruled out the couple non-BGGSS packages I was expecting, so it either had to be my SS or perhaps a gift from a relative.

After unboxing it, I saw a note on the gift with a message from my Secret Santa, wishing me a Merry Christmas all the way from Ukraine.

Since I would be flying out-of-state for Christmas (and TSA wouldn't be all too jolly about a wrapped present inside a cardboard box ), I decided to unwrap it before my trip.

Inside was Space Alert, a game that I've had my eye on for some time. Thank you very much, my Ukrainian Secret Santa! З Різдвом Христовим!

Arriving early this morning by my postman (yes, it is a Sunday!) was a box. I hadn't ordered anything and so I knew it could only be from my Secret Santa. I opened the box to find not 1, not 2, but 3 wrapped gifts and a Christmas card. I was going to rip the packaging off the gifts there and then, but my wife stepped in - "you're not opening those until Christmas Day", she said. My 6 year old also joined in by echoing "Yes, Dad, they're Christmas presents - put them under the tree"

And so, my Secret Santa's gifts are not to be opened until Christmas Day. But what a lovely surprise. I confess that I was a little worried as I had not heard from Santa at all and was beginning to wonder if I had been naughty...

Thanks Secret Santa. I wish you and your entire family a blessed Christmas and a prosperous New Year - whoever you are

Edit: A bit of trivia for you all; the wrapping paper is not see through whistle

Yes! My package arrived today with a game I've been pining after since I read [blog=4874]the designer diary[/blog], I've been playing Motherload to sustain myself since...

Also in the box, Red November, it's been on my list since I played Forbidden Island and realized I love co-ops, but I was really drawn to the theme.

And...Greedy Greedy, a card and dice game that, apparently, I am now the only owner of...

Sweet! Thanks Santa!

I apologize to my Santa for being so late to add this to the list. I received the games a couple of weeks ago, but I've just been very busy and had not been able to add them here. Plus, my work blocks BGG, so my primary surfing & posting time is no longer available!

First of all, I have to commend my Santa for providing truly devilish hints and clues in order to taunt me about the gifts I was about to receive. It started with a simple haiku:

A shipment of one
Yet, contains presents of two
One haiku. One clue.

Σάντα

This was soon followed by a mysterious web address:
http://207.71.206.150/bgg.html

The clues after that were too obscure and technical for me by far, but fortunately my friend

stumbled upon my Santa's taunts and decided to take up the charge. You can read more about it on my profile, and in their exchanges in the Santa geekmail.

Now, onto the games!

First up was Jaipur.

I had only recently heard about this one, but it sounded like a good fit for my wife and I. Since it was in a much smaller box than I expected, I had no clue what it was. We played soon after unwrapping, and indeed it was a hit. My wife beat me fairly soundly, but she liked it and I look forward to many plays in the future.

Big hit for Santa!

Next up was Olympos. I successfully guessed this one based on the first clue and the shape, weight, and sounds of the wrapped package. I finally was able to give it a try just last week, and I liked it quite a bit.

It's civ-lite sort of game, but it's not nearly as heavy as I had been led to believe by some reviews. But that's not a bad thing. It also played pretty quickly, so it did a really good job of scratching that itch in a simplified form.

Another big hit for Santa!

So, thank you again, Santa. I really loved the taunting and clues, and I'm very happy with the games you picked out for me.

THANK YOU, SANTA!

This is an extension to Secret Santa post 1000.

Lo and behold, the second package arrived on the next day! Unable to wait, I ripped open the box. I was pleasantly surprised to find a combination of games both on and off of my list, but fit my game style.

This is the first game I saw when I opened the box. I was very excited because I have a hankering for Euro games. I especially like Stefan Feld. I just got to play his new game, Trajan, last night with a friend. Hopefully this one will be just as good.

This was the next game in the box. I had looked at this game when it first came out since I like Descent and other Fantasy Flight games. The new gaming group I play with on Wednesday nights loves fantasy games, so I look forward to breaking this out with them ASAP.

This was a game I wasn't sure I wanted until I downloaded the app on the iPad. Once I played it, I realized it is a really fun game that I think my group will like. An added bonus - it goes up to eight players.

The last game was a treat for my daughter. What a nice surprise to receive a game on her wish list.

Thank you for being an amazing Secret Santa. You went above and beyond. I hope your Secret Santa is as generous as you were to me.

So I received an email from my secret santa informing me that I was finally moved to the nice list, and that I should be getting a package in the next few days. I was sitting at the hospital all day Saturday with my aunt, playing cards and Scrabble, while she got stuck with an extra long appointment. I told my roommate to be watching out for the mail, as I was expecting a package. And sure enough, he sent me a message informing me that it was there. I could hardly wait to get home. After dropping off my aunt, I went home, and found the box.

And so I opened it up, and found 3 very attractive presents and a card. Opened the card first, so that I could find out if he had any requests. (Like waiting til christmas etc,) to which there was none. And so I made dinner, and stared at the beautiful gifts, and finally I couldn't contain myself any longer. I started with the small package. Then opened the box that made the most noise. And then the quiet, smaller gift.

I not only received A Game of Thrones which was high on my list, and I am super excited about, but also was given Warrior Knights and The BoardGameGeek Fluxx expansion, which I had sadly missed out on.

This is the first year I have participated in the Secret Santa exchange and I have to say that I was very pleased from start to finish. Thank you SS!

I finally played AH and had pretty much any expansion on my wishlist as well. This sounds like a good one to try.

Also included in the box was
Looks like a fun little game that we can bring on trips and play with the family.

My package arrived Friday, but I am just now getting my chance to post. I was super happy to see Quarriors once I got into the box as this game has been climbing my wishlist at a pretty steady pace the more I read about it.

A little further digging into the very deep box also turned up Caylus Magna Carta.

Thank you so very very much Santa! I am very happy with my new games and am really looking forward to game night tomorrow night where I get to try them out.
