As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you, now remain in my love. You did not choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit, fruit that will last. -- Jesus Christ
This is the traditional weekly thrift and bargain finds list.
These lists may start empty but as always: add your items.
Put in what you consider a bargain, tell us how much you paid and the place you got it from. Bargains can be thrift store finds or any second-hand purchases or discounted boardgames bought new. Don't forget to add your encounters with the Thrift Store Irritant Squad™ and any other embellishments in order to make it even more interesting.
Our GeekGuild: Welcome to The Ancient and Loyal Order of Thrifters. Enter the halls of thriftdom at your own risk. Please do mind the stacks of prized games, do not mention the musty smell and try not to sneeze. Make sure to bow before our king: Belial I.
The Order's Anthem: Sing along with our good old thrifty theme song...
Had a check in 10 different charity shops in 2 different towns today. A couple of tempters-mostly for pirating-but not tempted enough to pull the trigger, apart from this version pictured but a blue box All complete 50p
Moving on to my SECOND Unique, I found the shelf almost empty! Apparently there was a 50% off sale the day before. I am horrified at the fact that I missed it. There was prob Fireball Island, Dune, and Dark Tower there I wager.
I dejectedly get another Scrabble and pay $1.92 for it and decide to go to the third Unique, even though its a bit further away.
Edit: I forgot to mention that this also came with a postcard game. You cut the counters out of one half. The board is the other half with the rules on the reverse. Apparently you can receive die cut counts for this minigame free if you mention it in your next order from the company.
The family and I visited a friend in Dallas, TX this weekend. I managed to get a little thrifting in because I took the kids with me to give the other adults some sanity time. At the GW I found Kingmaker (edition pictured). The box is in great shape and a look inside reveals it to be completely UNPUNCHED! Very cool. All for the low price of $3. A nice way to end my way too long thrifting slump.
Went to the Walden Super Flea and was about to leave when I spotted one last vendor, stopped by and saw some board games... FOR A DOLLAR!!! Picked up these gems. Starting with Battleball, already had one, but am canabalizing the parts: bases for my custom teams and 4 of the players for Heroscape gladiatrons that I don't want to pay $30.00 for.
*Missing one die. Luckily it was the 6 sided one, most easy to replace.
