Possibly the most overused word on here, what does it actually mean?

Well, to me, a meeple must be a chunky 2D shape that has a humanoid form. Hopefuly, these images will reinforce the idea...

Suggestions welcome, but try to stick to my definition please! (That means HUMANOID figures only, please. I'll make another list soon for animals...)

Hey,"meeple and femeeples" implies that meeples are, by default, male. Sexism, say I! (And it means Stone Age is extraordinarily progressive, I would say.)

Nay, these are obviously hemeeples and shemeeples. (Can't be heeples and sheeples, for obvious reasons; we have enough guys on here confusing women and sheep.)

I thought these were just copies of the Count from Carcassonne. Totally different actually.

I thought that these meeps were so odd for Duel. They make the game look like Duelling Draculas.

In purplesally's GL ( http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist.php3?action=view&listi...) it was noted that these pirate people should be smeeples.

Morgan -- it's a Simpsons reference, from the episode when Lisa goes veggie and the family has a huge BBQ, complete with (flying) suckling pig.

I can, happily, report that the quite is wrong, however.

You can still view that geeklist on archive.org:
http://web.archive.org/web/20041022231546/http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist.php3?action=view&listid=1816

The comment says to see a geeklist which changed since that comment was posted. However! You can once again see the version that was up at the time, assuming that the history given at the top is correct:
http://web.archive.org/web/20040113105308/http://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist.php3?action=view&listid=1041

Sadly, the bottom entry is Stage II, and doesn't mention meeples at all. Looking at the two other versions, I still only see meeples mentioned in connection with Carcassonne.

This appears to be a dead end.

To me, a meeple is a 2d image extruded to make a 3d miniature person or animal used as a playing piece.

Radial Symmetry figs are not meeples, they are pawns, IMO.

YMMV.

Oh, and Hugin and Munin are meeples IMO... after all, in the mythology, they're smarter than many people. (And essentially, are demi-gods.)
