There have been numerous games based on The Three Musketeers. None of them match the book, though ...

Saw this one at a local game shop but couldn't figure out how they'd made a game out of a philosophical novel.

And probably over a dozen based on Homer's books. I think I'll stop now - there are WAY too many games based on books ...

Forest Wars of the Haven. This was published by Dave Casciano (Attack International), as I recall, and was based on fantasy novels by a Graham Diamond. The game is almost guaranteed to be wretched (and got a very bad review in The Space Gamer), no idea about the novels.
The Land. A self-published game by a chap named (I think) Kenneth Lusaszewski, based on Stephen Donaldson's Thomas Covenant books. The thought of this boggles me somewhat.
Apple Valley
Minnesota
Really? Interesting. I'd love to find out more about this.

Or would, for example, any James Bond game be allowed: A game based on a movie series based on Ian Fleming's book series?
military/mobile
For the younger generation, the JOHN CARTER series was written by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the same guy who wrote all the TARZAN books. 26 novels, I think, the first one being written back in 1912. His writing style is very contemporary. Easy to follow for today's reader. I'm sure there'll be a reprint to coincide with the movie.
