I call this game "Settlers of Hell", but that's actually probably giving it too much credit.

And it is a great book - both of them.

Don't you mean, "the movie of the same title"? Whoever wrote the screenplay stole Heinlein's title and lot of the characters, and then pasted it onto a crappy Vietnam plot.

Two items which would qualify if they were on the Geek:

Forest Wars of the Haven. This was published by Dave Casciano (Attack International), as I recall, and was based on fantasy novels by a Graham Diamond. The game is almost guaranteed to be wretched (and got a very bad review in The Space Gamer), no idea about the novels.

The Land. A self-published game by a chap named (I think) Kenneth Lusaszewski, based on Stephen Donaldson's Thomas Covenant books. The thought of this boggles me somewhat.

Do you only want games with direct Game-to-Novel links?

Or would, for example, any James Bond game be allowed: A game based on a movie series based on Ian Fleming's book series?

Back in the 60's when I had first read CHESSMEN OF MARS,I made myself a Barsoomian chess set. (The game rules were in the back of the book.) A lot like regular chess but different pieces with different movements. I lost all the pieces I made long ago, but with the new JOHN CARTER movie coming out, I was interested in digging out that old paperback and re-examining the rules. It brought back a lot of memories of the eleven John Carter books. Maybe if the movie does good and there are a few sequels, there'll be a CHESSMEN OF MARS movie and a commercial production of a Barsoomian chess set.

For the younger generation, the JOHN CARTER series was written by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the same guy who wrote all the TARZAN books. 26 novels, I think, the first one being written back in 1912. His writing style is very contemporary. Easy to follow for today's reader. I'm sure there'll be a reprint to coincide with the movie.
