I think the board game Caylus is probably too long with 5 players, with 3 players it doesn't last much longer than the card game. I'd push for the boad game over the card game when playing with 3.

Agreed on 3 players, but that presumes you've got a copy of the original! Nevertheless we've had some excellent 3-player CMC games this year but I would only play this now with the extra location variant that means just one card missing from start-up.

One for Mike to bring to Rosliston. A big bright board that helps to give this game a great sense of occasion. I do thing the game has too many options and if they had been cut back it would have streamline play without taking anything away.

Dave F had a rather unpleasant experience with his first playing where he got frozen out cash-wise for a long period, but there's still a lot of enthusiasts for this so hopefully the 2009 aberration when it didn't get played will not be repeated.
