As nice as game covers are now I'm just never going to love them the way that I love these overstylized beauties. I wish there was a way to track down some of these artists.

I would love to own coffee mugs of all of these wonders of the "modern" world.

Please feel free to add your own.

I'll be updating this from time to time.

The game was based on the Saturday morning kids game show of that name, hosted by Stubby Kay and spun off from the weekday morning game show "Video Village," which wa shosted by Monte Hall (later of Let's Make A Deal fame). While the art may look odd, it's actually a pretty accurate depiction of the Shenanigans show.

Thanks, Tim. I hadn't thought about the theme song in a long time, but as soon as I read your post, the tune popped back into my head.

Of course, today, with all the news stories about pedophiles, the lyrics would certainly have to be reworked.

I did! Of course I can blame my parents on dressing me in striped nylon pants with a 3 inch wide white belt and a shirt with a collar out to my shoulders. We watched too much partridge family to be sure. Oh the therapy bills.

I saw a sample of this tacky game at a "Beatlemania" exhibit at Seattle's EMP museum.

Did you know the Beatles' manager sold off the licensing rights for practically nothing? The band made nothing off these items from the '64 load of crappola merchandising. So, thank God, I no longer need to hold Ringo responsible.....

I had it as a kid too-- the play mechanics were a complete joke. You spin and move your way around the glow-in-the-dark board, collecting "spooky" items on the way, until everyone gets to the finish. Then you put everyone's ghost tokens on the spinner, spin it and whoever's token it points to wins. You'd be hard pressed to invent a game with more lame mechanics than this one. It's 100% gimmick.

Me, too. And "Treasure Isle." But there were some good game shows on TV in the '60s as well, like Jeopardy, Concentration, Password, etc., all of which also had 'home versions' of the game, and often many editions of each.

I had this game, and I really liked it! The spinner tells you what color chip you must take with the little fork from the thee-posted balance, then you have to hope that the guy balancing on his nose doesn't lose purchase. But in this photo they mixed the colors of the chips when they put it away. I used to neatly seperate them... Bastards!

Two years ago I bought a record store that went out of business in 1965 and was in storage all that time. There was almost every Denny album in the collection but I don't remember a Quiet Village 2 or 3. There was, however, Exotica 1, 2 &3. There also was a bunch of various albums with Jim Flora art. I framed a few (the only framed albums on my wall). Jim Flora had a book of his album art release last year. Check his gallery: http://www.jimflora.com/

This looks like the kind of game Jane Curtain would be confronting Sleazy-Toymaker, Dan Ackroyd about.

This game is nothing but a rusty rat-ratrap!

It's aaahh educational, it teaches kids about springs and stuff. We even put a warning on it "Yo kid, don't put your hand in 'dere".

Who said the art had to be something like a drawing or painting? Who designed this place anyway? I don't care, but put the board over there and take a photo...

So now we know what the apes play when they aren't torturing Charlton Heston.

I really do think the home on the back of the box would have fit in quite well in the Ape Village from the 1st movie:

Most of the 3M games of the 1970s had this "ultra-mod" look. Trying to be sophisticated and "moderne". This one does take the cake though I think...

Here's some of the game commercial tag lines that I remember:
"Milton Bradley makes the best games in the world!" (Sung by some Tony Bennett-ish type)
"From Ideal, the Good Game people!"
(Spoken by a cartoon rooster): "It's Kenner! It's fun! AWWWKK!!"
