This is the traditional weekly thrift and bargain finds list.
These lists may start empty, but as always, add your items.
Put in what you consider a bargain, tell us how much you paid and the place you got it from. Bargains can be thrift store finds or any second-hand purchases or discounted boardgames bought new. Don't forget to add your encounters with the Thrift Store Irritant Squad and any other embellishments in order to make it even more interesting.
The Thrift Store/Bargain Finds List Wayback Machine: The Grand Vizier is maintaining a list of all the weekly lists through time. He is also adding stats and interesting tidbits for us thrifty geeks. Your Thrift Store Bargain Finds Through Time (with links to all previous lists)
Our GeekGuild: Welcome to The Ancient and Loyal Order of Thrifters. Enter the halls of thriftdom at your own risk. Please do mind the stacks of prized games, do not mention the musty smell and try not to sneeze. Make sure to bow before our King Belial I, and pay your due respects to previous Kings Great_Mazinga, minionhunter, Krazygit, EvilTimmy and Blackwind.
The Order's Anthem: Sing along with our good old thrifty theme song...
Pirates of the Caribbean Chess. Complete. First page in versions but no pic link. 99 cents Goodwill. If there are no pics maybe I'll snap a few...6 pics for each chess piece, 6 board shots, 1 pic of each side of the box, .. ok just kidding.
Wandered in to Value Village today to see a renovation in progress -- the Game shelf was being condensed, and the books were all being shifted around. That's ok, their game shelves are still a healthy size.
But. Wait. What? No. NO!!
They are taking games off the shelf and *shot putting* them into the carts they are using to move things around.
Mostly it was puzzles, but this Value Village often doesn't tape boxes closed - sometimes they rubber band, but not always. I had visions of game components scattering everywhere!
I quickly get in a position to see what they are tossing, and cry out if anything of note was about to be destroyed.
I did not cry when Hi Ho Cherio reached it apogee.
During the chaos, I did snag a copy of this off of the shelf, before it was subjected to any possible sheer forces.
