This is the traditional weekly thrift and bargain finds list.
These lists may start empty, but as always, add your items.
Put in what you consider a bargain, tell us how much you paid and the place you got it from. Bargains can be thrift store finds or any second-hand purchases or discounted boardgames bought new. Don't forget to add your encounters with the Thrift Store Irritant Squad and any other embellishments in order to make it even more interesting.

Early this week, I was wandering through my local / favorite thrift store (AMVETS) and found this gem. I picked it up and it was very heavy. I was POSITIVE it was complete but the tape monkeys had it sealed up tight and I was missing my small knife. ( It was very odd, as this AMVETS has made it a practice of bagging all games, often bundling them together as odd & twisted parings) $2.95 ? Well worth the risk, the minis alone were worth the price. I scanned the shelves for more and found an expansion (see below) I got it home and carefully worked off the tape to find that there were 3 tin boxes protecting most of the cards, there was also a Plano box with the counters and dice organized nicely. And 5 more decks of cards???? There were 5 mini adventure expansion decks inside SWEET.
Furhter inventory revealed that many counters (health) and ALL the minis are GONE!!!! Oh the horror. I have made several trips back tothe same place, scoured the toy aisle, looking for another little plastic box full of odd gray mini and little cardboard drops of blood, no such luck. I am curious if any of my fellow San Diego Thrifters found some Runebound minis and no game????
I found this at the same East SD AMVETS for $2.95 as well. As stated above, this was on the same shelf as Runebound 2nd Ed. After discovering that there were pieces missing from the base game, I worked the tape off this box carefully and hoped to find the missing components. No luck there, but it is complete and unpunched. I just have to find a source for the base game minis and I am all set now.
I will keep haunting the small bag section of this store, seeking the missing plano box of minis and blood chits.
This will definitely be my find of the week... if not the year. (I hardly ever find anything good around here)
Wife and I were at our second to last stop for Thrifty Tuesday. It's a little ma and pop type thrift store and we've become recognized as regulars. They were excited to meet my newborn son when he arrived on Dec 26th. Last week was their first time meeting him, and we had some baby socks we were going to get, but he gave them to us no charge.
So anyway, back on track, we went in today. I went to the board game area, and the wife looks in the baby area for stuff. Nothing new. Same games I've been seeing for about 2 months now. On the way out I say "No new board game lately eh?" He says no, but then stops me and tells me to wait and goes into the back room.
He comes out with a red case. He said he didn't know what it was but thought I'd be interested. I opened up the case, and it was Mahjong! And not a cheap looking set at all. I ask him how much? He said, "It's yours.". I responded, "You gave me something free already last week, you can't be serious, especially with this?"
His response... "No, the baby got something free, you didn't." and just smiles.
I was overwhelmed. This is no cheap plastic set. I'll get pictures up as soon as I can. I haven't fully inventoried it yet but it looks complete.
