So Task #3 is my wishlist, which I said I would have by days end... and, well, the day has ended and here we are.
BUT!! I have enlisted the 1PG for help! So I'm using that as an excuse to buy me another day or two Plus it's a bit like a sneak preview...

For your next task, I want you to create a wishlist for the Secret Soloist exchange. You don't need to do it in your actual wishlist (unless you want to create it there too - I know you like lists). I want you to create the wishlist as a geeklist item in your new geeklist. You can do it however you want. You can simply list a bunch of games, you can write all about them, you can ask other 1PGers for help, however you want. Be creative. Task #3
Create a wishlist for this exchange in your new geeklist.
Also, from here on out, I want all your tasks to be added to your geeklist. That's why I had you make it.
Your Secret Soloist
Dear Secret Soloist,
As you wished, in no particular order...
I reserve the right to edit until I add my comments (who wants to take bets that will be Task #7?) If it isn't, or even if it is, I'll definitely add some commentary this weekend.
One month later... I made some additions and subtractions and added my commentary (finally!) Thanks (real) Secret Soloist for the gentle nudge
I’ve left off all my (currently) non-solo-able games but I’ve given my whole wishlist a makeover if you’d like to see some more options or more specific want ratings.
Thank you so much to the 1PG for their help and to busdjur for creating an amazing wishlist geeklist that I could pilfer.
The solo games that have me the most excited right now:
I love everything about this one. The want is strong for this one.
CoB The Card Game
I love CoB but I moved on my physical copy in favor of Boiteajeux, but this new implementation has caught my eye as a solo game with its small package, less finicky setup, and new gameplay.
Helionox: The Last Sunset
Great art, cool theme, awesome mechanics, resounding positive reviews from the 1PG, this one definitely needs to see some time on my table.
Freedom: The Underground Railroad
When I first heard about this game, it seemed like a no brainer for me: a historical co-op, that's a must have. But upon watching some videos, I wasn't feeling it. I have, however, changed my tune. I think this one would be a great solo game and an even better game to share with my Mom (who I am slowly getting into board games) she loves historical themes and I think she'll dig this one.
Shadowrun: Crossfire – High Caliber Ops
I was blown away by the base game and now this has become a must have.
Botton of the 9th
I love baseball, I love the vintage feel of this game, I love that it can be played solo.
I love the exploration in this one and the lightness doesn't bother me. Could be a great solo game to play after a long work day.
Fortune and Glory: The Cliffhanger Game
The length of this game and how much it will compare to Eldritch Horror (which I didn't love) is what concerns me the most. I love the theme, I love the setting, I love the story elements but I worry if that'll be enough to get me past my dislike of games with the success/fail dice mechanic.
Secrets of the Lost Tomb
I can't tell if I'd like this one or Fortunes and Glory better. At first I was thinking Fortune or Glory, but then I was drawn to the exploration in this one. Still I have the same fear as I have with Fortune and Glory, will the mechanics engage me enough to surpass the success/fail mechanic? I like the length on this one better though!
Last but not least, I'm pretty sure La Granja is never going to make it to the table without an easy setup insert so I think this totally counts as a game: http://www.inserthere.me/productdisplay/la-granja Since I'm really trying to get the games in my collection played, great inserts are probably at the top of my wishlist for those games that have long set up times and lots of pieces.
What did I cut and why?
This game intrigues me but I worry that it will just be too much adding of stats. I need something to push me over the edge and I haven’t found it yet.
I love cooking and co-ops so I should love this right? This game has all the things I like but I'm just not feeling excited about it right now.
Robinson Crusoe: Voyage of the Beagle
I need to play the base game first!
I’ve yet to finish a game of this on Yucata and the ease of playing on there really means I don’t need it in my collection right now.
Mice & Mystics
It’s a great theme but I just don’t think the mechanics are for me.
Upon review, I just wasn’t feeling drawn to the theme or gameplay.
Just seemed too long and too fiddly for me.
Well, my wishlist is ready. I gave the non-solo games a lower priority so they should be out of the way. I also marked the solo games with 2014 Secret Soloist Game.
Then again if My Secret Soloist would like to surprise me with something I might enjoy I would also be vey happy.
In general I prefer thematic games over those with euro-style mechanics.
I know shipping to Poland can be a killer, that's why I tried to post a link to Polish online stores next to each entry.
The Polish online stores I would recommend most are:
They don't have English versions of their websites, but should have no problems answering English emails.
There is also a search site for boardgames which included other online stores:
Sometimes amazon.co.uk or bookdepository.com ship free to Poland, but with Amazon it is not always the case and the prices can be steep on bookdepository.
I can't always steer my 4 year old to the good stuff. We'll give this a go. $1.99 Savers in a hanging bag with a small puzzle. Complete.
A little preview for Justin. Picked up at Baras Thrift Shop on Clairemont Mesa for 99 cents, Complete and in good shape.
