<title>BoardGameSpeak 2005-08-03</title>
<description>
 Once again, Christian Petersen, Chatty Cathy extraordinaire and Fantasy Flight Head Honcho is featured. In this final segment, Aldie finally gets to ask the question he's been aching to ask and we talk about the licensing of video games for themes of boardgames, or more specifically: lotsa good scoop on the forthcoming World of Warcraft game as well as other projects to be released in the coming months. And we also analyze Christian's hook. (hubba, hubba) And roving reporter Ted Cheatham gives us another installment of his Origins report...

<description>
Okie-dokie then. This is the second part of the Christian Petersen (Fantasy Flight big cheese) episode, as promised. We talk about Doom the boardgame quite a bit, as well as a number of other games coming from FF. In addition, we have a whole lotta Teddy love in this episode, starting with a audio review of Doom and finishing with another installment of his Origins trip.

<title>BoardGameSpeak 2005-07-14</title>
<description>
In this one, we talk with Christian Petersen, who is head honcho of Fantasy Flight and one chatty geek. In this first part, we talk about Fantasy Flight as a company and we specifically address the role that Twilight Imperium played in creating Fantasy Flight. Additionally, we also get a long-over due field report from our roving reporter, Ted Cheatham, as he visits Origins and gives us some scoop on some new games coming out soon. This is a slightly different format for us, as I cut this episode into three pieces and then tried to edit the result a bit...

<title>BoardGameSpeak 2005-06-30</title>
<description>
 It's baaaAAAAaack! I seem to be cursed with bad laptop karma, 'cuz my four-month old laptop bit the dust two weeks ago. Anyway, we were more than just a bit worried, 'cuz I didn't have some of these files in any location other than the laptop. However, the Apple firewire drive mode is suuh-weeeEEEeeet. And AppleCare replaced the bad hard drive in record time! Ok, but enough about that.

 This is my favorite episode of the Gathering ones. Peter is simply a pleasure to talk to, and I've been playin' conversational Tichu with him for years now. We didn't intend to speak with him about his 'Millionaire' experience for quite as long as we did, but as usual, we got caught up in the moment.

 On a more topical note, we've decided to bring Peter and his game show skillz to Boardgamegeek.CON. The final format of the quiz show he'll be running is still up in the air, but as anyone from the Gathering of Friends will attest, he's an expert. We're extremely pleased to have him come to our event and doubly pleased he'll be making it such a wonderful experience for everyone.

 Also, with the new podcasting functionality in iTunes 4.9, we'll be releasing this episode via that method for the first couple days...

<description>
This is the recovered episode from KublaCon 2005 where we interviewed Reiner Knizia and Guido Teuber in front of a live audience. There's a bit of an intro where we talk about our reactions when we found out that the file was corrupted. Thanks to all the users and especially Jim Ginn for recovering the file!

<description>
This one's kind of a repeat, but this version's much better. Essentially, this is GeekSpeak in reverse. Skip Maloney, author for Games Magazine and the new gaming magazine Knucklebones, interviews Aldie and me about the website and the upcoming Boardgamegeek.CON.

<description>
Ok, I'm changing things up a bit. Somewhat 'cuz we delayed this interview two or three times before we actually did it, but mostly 'cuz Beatnikturtle has recorded some brand new intro music for us, and it's freakin' dyn-O-mite! Oh yeah.. the guest. We're talkin' to Jeremy Young on this one and he's got some very interesting things to say about boardgames, lemme tell you...

<description>
In this episode Derk and I speak with Guido Teuber of Catan GmbH. We talk about his gaming background, playing games with his Dad (Klaus), playtesting Catan, and the business of games. We take a break and get a review of Fairy Tale from Ted Cheatham. We also get to talk with Guido about the Catan world and future developments. We also talk about mainstream vs. niche markets, and we finish up with the hook. A real fun episode with a lot of joking around.

<description>
After a few weeks hiatus, the episode that you've been waiting for is now available. Derk and I spoke with Reiner on Saturday night and on into Sunday morning. We covered his early years with his banking career and the transition to becoming a full-time game designer. We also go in-depth into the theme and creation of Euphrat &amp; Tigris, Lord of the Rings, and Durch die Wuste. We get some personal tidbits such as his favorite movies and favorite word and curse word...sorta. Also, we've got a great Ted Cheatham review of Zendo, and we finish up with a modified hook Derk and I had a blast doing the show and thank Reiner Knizia for taking time out of his busy schedule to talk with us geeks.
