Description Edit | History

EuroQuest is an annual gaming convention held in the Baltimore area (usually) during a weekend of November. For 2013, EuroQuest will be held from November 14-17. November 1, 2013 is the deadline for pre-registration rates. The convention is an official event of the the Games Club of Maryland (check out the GCOM guild here on BGG).

The convention offers Tournament play and prizes in 13 popular Eurogames as well as a unique "Wildcard" event. In 2013, there will be three special events added, an officially sanctioned "Puffing Billy" tournament dedicated to train games. an 18xx tournment, and, for the second time, a regional qualifier for the Ticket to Ride North American and World Championships. There is dedicated Open Gaming space and a lending library of games. The convention also will have demos of the newest games, including the hot new Essen games straight from Germany! We will have at least 13 games designers demoing their newly published games and participating in a designer's forum to discuss game development. There will be two early brid prize drawings: one for Wednesday night (a.k.a. pre-con) and one for Thursday night. We will have a grand prize drawing on Saturday evening which includes some of the hot new games from Essen and around the world as prizes.

More Information Edit | History

UPDATE: The room block is practically full with only a couple of nights on Wednesday and Thursday open.

Reminder: Pre-registration ends tomorrow! Go to euroquestcon.com to pre-register.

This message is going to all boardgame enthusiasts on the status of EuroQuest 2013 and with some important news about this year’s convention. Two important deadlines are less than 10 days away – the pre-registration deadline and the hotel room reservation deadline, both of which offer discounted rates. Deadline for pre-registration and hotel reservation is Friday, November 1st.
If you require accommodations and have not yet booked a room, please be advised that our room block at the Pikesville Doubletree by Hilton is now approximately 86% sold out. Some nights are over 90% full. So, do not wait until the last minute if you want to be sure to book a room at the Doubletree at the group rate. If it becomes apparent our room block is full, then we will post information on the EuroQuest website about alternative hotels in the area.

For information about the hotel group rates, check:
http://jpr3.ehost-services150.com/EuroQuestNet/wordpress/index.php/hotel-info/

Pre-registering for the convention is highly recommended, for those of you who have not done so yet. Why? (1) You save $10 over the four-day walk-in rate or $5 over the daily walk-in rate. (2) You will receive a nice-looking, pre-printed badge with your name and hometown on it. (3) You will not have to wait in line or fill out any forms and can start playing games immediately. Here’s a direct link to the EQ pre-registration form with instructions for how to pre-register electronically via email and PayPal:

For those of you planning on joining us at EuroQuest 2013, we hope this will be our biggest and best convention ever. The schedule for tournament games (which will not change) has been posted here:
http://jpr3.ehost-services150.com/EuroQuestNet/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/EQ-2013-Schedule-FINAL.pdf

The schedule for the demos of new Essen and hot games is coming soon (Essen starts this week)! Expect to see events added, right up to the very last few days before the convention, so check back often. For those of you interested in tournaments, simply mouse-over the drop-down menu near the left of the screen at the website, then click on your favorite tournament to access all the information (rules, schedule, format, etc.) for this year which have been posted by the GameMasters.

We have added some exciting new opportunities for EQ attendees this year. First, for those who will be coming early Wednesday, we will have an early, early prize drawing for the Village Inn Expansion along with open gaming and bonus heats for Ra and Agricola. We are also an official sanctioned convention for the Puffing Billy and National Ticket to Ride Qualifying Tournament. And if that is not enough for you, we have added Play to Win games which will be added to the Saturday prize drawing that will include the new Essen games. For details, see our main page on the website at:
http://euroquestcon.com//

Once again, there will be a TEAM TOURNAMENT at EuroQuest. Check out the information here:
http://jpr3.ehost-services150.com/EuroQuestNet/wordpress/index.php/team-tournament/

Information about all of the non-tournament activities at EuroQuest is captured on the "EuroQuest Presents" page. This feature is basically a catch-all that collects all the special events and activities that are not related to tournaments. Included here are things like new game demos, Essen games, Math Trade and the prize drawings. We also expect to have at least a dozen Game Designers on hand to demo their newest creations and/or participate in our second annual Game Designers Forum in the New Games area on Saturday, starting at 12:30 PM. Keep in mind this page is very much a work in progress and expect to see periodic updates between now and the days leading up to the convention. Direct link here:
