The Rapides Strategy Board Games Group is currently on hiatus due to work-schedule conflicts.
Our Game Night was at 6 p.m. on the 3rd Saturday of the month at McAlister's Deli, 3601 Masonic Drive (located on the northwest side of the lot adjacent to the Alexandria Mall; nearest mall store: J.C. Penney's) in Alexandria.
Participation was open to adults, college students and teens 16 years of age and older. (Participation by teens 16 & 17 years of age required the accompaniment of a parent or guardian.)
Newcomers were welcome to attend and participate. We also strived to emphasize friendship and socializing as well as good sportsmanship and fair play in a positive atmosphere.
The games that my group played included many of the top-rated modern/Euro strategy games listed here on BoardGameGeek.com. My group didn't play just one type of game. We played a well-rounded variety of modern strategy games, including Euro games, war games, abstract strategy games, dice games, tile games, card games, and some classic strategy games.
Although we were open to playing some living card games (LCGs), we did not, however, play collectible card games (CCGs), collectible miniature games (CMGs) or role-playing games (RPGs).
Participants weren't expected to learn and memorize a lot of rules. Player aids were provided to both make learning new games faster and easier as well as to serve as memory prompters.
