Sorry I couldn't make it to the club on Thursday - had a last minute invite to a friend's 50th party. Hope to make it this coming Thursday.

Incidentally, it's Blackrod & Bolton Wargames Club meeting this Tuesday at the New Chapel Hall on New Chapel Lane Horwich, from about 7pm. We're very happy for people to play boardgames should you need a venue.

For all you Wargamers out there, Mike Hibbert is running a wargame maths trade here.

If you haven't done a maths trade before, you offer up games (by the 20th in this case). Next, you say which games you are prepared to receive in trade (by the 25th) and a computer works out the combination to give most trades (which might mean I send my game to A, A sends his game to B, B sends his game to C and C sends his game to me).

I really liked Eketorp last night. It plays a bit like Stone Age but with more player interaction. There is also the chance to raid another players village. Quite a bit of strategy and tactics too.

Stonehenge was in fact Stoneage [?]/Stone Age [?] which I thought was particularly good game.

Hi - having finally managed to negotiate BGGs registration hurdles, I thought I'd acknowledge Chris's kind offer a bit more publicly. Horwich Wargamers (aka Blackrod & Bolton Wargames Society) meet alternate Tuesdays at the New Chapel Church Hall, New Chapel Lane, Horwich, Bolton. (That's 'New' as in 'New in about 1760! But the hall kitchen etc has been recently refurbished).

I'm sounding the others out about this before coming back officially, but as three of us have already visited the Doffcocker Gnomes it's unlikely to be a problem. I'm absolutely sure that any visitors who would like to see what we are about would be welcomed and given a tea or coffee - perhaps even a biscuit.

Next meeting Tuesday 30th September from about 7.00 pm. Len and I will be doing a fast play version of English Civil War in 15mm miniatures, not sure what others are up to.

Being a member of a wargames club and GNOME it is my view that you have nothing to lose by linking the two clubs together.Tabletop wargaming is a lot different from boardgaming it incorporates 3 hobbys in one with building and painting models,building and painting terrain and the actual gaming.It is more likely that people will move from tabletop wargaming to boardgames than boardgamers to tabletop so if anyone was to win it would be the boardgames.If you did lose a member to wargaming then that would happen anyway its a different hobby and there are 4 wargameing clubs in a 20 mile radius of Bolton that I can think of off the top of my head.

If you have never seen hundreds or even thousands of figures on good quality terrain then it is a sight to behold. The very first time Joe mentioned that they figure gamed I was interested to pop along to just sit and watch and take in all the atmosphere and to reminisce of course.

From what I can gather, none of the HWs have much of a presence on BGG atm, either because they don't know it exists or because they are not that well up on computers. Under those circumstances, option 1 approach would be perhaps the most apt, with their own Forum entry (or two) which is easy to set up, and share of the calendar.
I'll have to try and pop along sometime and see what goes on - perhaps their hall is available Thursday and we could relocate - although for the out-of-towners it isn't easy to find! The fee is £15 for the evening but they can stay all night if they want!
I did go the hall once years ago to a model railway exhibition..
Other than that, option 2 would suit, like the Magers who come and visit us on occasion. Option 3 is totally anti-gaming and would benefit no-one !
