First of all, I really want to thank you guys for such an entertaining podcast. I recently had to endure 1 month apart from my beloved, as she had to leave China earlier than me owing to the imminent arrival of our first kid. Fortuitously I stumbled across your podcast as she was leaving and I worked my way (backwards) through all of the podcasts in 1 month; I now feel like Mike, Si and Paul live in a little compartment in my head :wow:

When listening to one of the earlier episodes of ItG (is it okay to abbreviate?) I recall Mike mentioning he received Flight Leader, but I note it has not been mentioned in any subsequent episode. Has it seen any play? I have fond memories of this game, since as a 12 year old I made a 14 mile round trip on my bike to buy it. Unfortunately, I never knew of any opponents and in a fit of ignorance chucked it away a few years ago. I'd love to know if it's any good...

On a related note, I've found my jet aircraft gaming itch has been fully satisfied by Downtown (a Lee Brimmicombe-Wood creation). If that kind of thing interests anyone, I highly recommend you check out the rules on the GMT website. I would be more than happy to teach anyone using VASSAL, but unfortunately I've had to leave my copy in China :( I can't wait for Elusive Victory, which promises to be even better...

Actually, I had to leave all my games in China, and the wife and I are desperate for a couple of new ones to pass the time. Does anyone know of any good games shops on London (either central or south)? I'm quite interested in checking out Galaxy Trucker, Race for the Galaxy or Carcassone (we're pretty new to this gaming thing!). I'd appreciate any feedback.

Personally if I'm gonna play this sort of game, I prefer something lighter and SHORTER like Stone Age. Long games are great too... but not like this.

Just IMHO obviously.

Not from a charity shop...but i picked up a copy of McMulti on eBay for £5 a couple of years ago :) It was on a "buy it now" and an eBay search alert allowed me to pick it up minutes after it was listed.

I got Paris Paris in a UK sale after I heard Charlie bigging it up on the Gamescape special. Still not got round to playing it. :(

I spend a lot of time browsing charity shops...

How about the following (all intact!):

- ELFQUEST: The Boardgame = 1.00
- Judge Dredd: The Boardgame (arrest Judge Death for littering) = 1.50
- Everway = 1.50 (remainder bookshop "THE WORKS")
- Willow: The Boardgame = 2.00 (twice!)
- BLACKBEARD = 2.00
- Runequest 3rd Edition Deluxe Box Set = 2.50 (!)
- Magic Realm = 1.00
- KIMBO (Parker Bros, 1950s) - immaculate condition for a quid
- Sherlock Holmes, Consulting Detective (intact) = 50p
- Star Wars Boardgame (escape from the Death Star thing) x 2 at 50p each
- RUSH HOUR + 4 expansion packs (unopened) = 2.50
- Knizia's LORD OF THE RINGS co-op boardgame = 1.00
- GOUDA GOUDA = 1.00
...and so many more!

Some of the above are for sale, if you're interested!

Also, had 6 issues of COMPUTER ADVENTURER magazine from 1983/84 that I sold on Ebay for 47 quid!

And early TORI AMOS CDs are like hen's teeth in the States - 20 quid a pop!

I think a lot of us did that. I got rid of totally mint condition Battlecars, Battlebikes, Chainsaw Warrior, Apocalypse etc. This was before I discovered these were actually sought after items. I gave the lot to a local charity so didn't even get a tenner.

I'm on the other side of the coin I'm afraid. Back in the late 80s/early 90s I decided I was "too old" for games, and that I should take my collection of all the great GW games of the time to a car boot sale. Kings and Things, Railway Rivals, Talisman, Blood Bowl, Warrior Knights.... the list was endless.

I flogged the lot to some eagle eyed gamer for £10!!

The shame, the shame.... :soblue:

I was wandering along my local high street today and on a whim decided to pop into one of the many charity shops to see if they had any decent board games. They never have but it doesn't stop me looking in a forlorn kind of way.

Anyway, as I stopped in front of the shelves I spotted Talisman 2nd Edition, Talisman Timescape and Blokus. All priced at £2.50 and all in great condition. I grabbed the lot, paid the nice lady and fled home in a state of anticipation. First box to be opened (carefully) was Talisman Timescape, I looked inside and Oh No, disaster! The only thing inside was the board and rulebook. Cursing to myself I opened the Talisman box to find not only all the pieces but the Timescape pieces as well. Hooray, the god of boardgames has smiled on me today.

Oh yeah, Blokus was complete as well but you know.....whatever. Mmmmmmmm Talisman. Now I know Blokus is the better game but have you seen how much Talisman goes for on ebay?

So what's your best charity/car boot find?
