It can be understood from her eyes that that she has inherited the perfect Boardgamer gene. Look at her seriousness, the massed up game board and the plastic seat that helps her to reach the table. As a boardgamegeek, this is the best photograph that I have ever seen.

In the future I can picture her constantly refering to the rules to veto a player's actions and improve her own position.

This photo is a great illustration for how any game can seem "too complicated" when you need to learn from the written rules.

Why do people glaze over or state things like "this is too complicated" when you explain a modern euro like Carcassonne?

I'm sure Monopoly would be equally confusing to someone with little-to-no board game experience if they had to learn by reading the rulebook. Or try learning euchre from a written rules if you have no experience with card games.

Before you know it, she'll be stacking the deck and cheating her way to victory. It is the inevitable conclusion of the lesson of Candyland -- Get it over quickly.

I tried submitting a "child in gamebox" photo previously and it was rejected as "too grisly." I admit, I had chosen Citadels, but I felt I'd discovered a niche we hadn't explored yet.

Edit: It's almost as if she is reading the rules trying to figure out exactly how and why Candyland is fun, I'm sure it won't take her long to figure out the truth.
