I like this shot, but for some reason it gave me the nervous feeling that he should have been doing something else at this moment...like fighting for his life.

Well if you look at the smiling guy in the background it is clear either they are in a safe area or the danger they are in is pretty funny.

It's the black player that needs to fight for his life, white got his King cornered.

Well, if they are actually in the "Sandbox" (and not simply training stateside) then they are probably on a very long and boring Chinook ride with nothing else to do other than eat, read or sleep - no matter what the threat on the ground outside.

If they were in the "Sandbox", why would they be wearing green camo?

Unlike the Army, the USMC has the new "computerized cammo" in both a woodland and a desert uniform. Which is why I suspect they are probably not in Iraq. But again, there are parts of Iraq that are quite lush - almost jungle like.

It isn't all THAT bad. For example, despite all the carnage and horrors one sees on CNN and other news outlets with the IEDs and ambushes, several sources have mentioned that 95% of the time, it's a non-combat situation. So while things aren't floweres and ballgames, they're not entrenched in constant battle unlike how some of us may perceive

That's not a CH-47 Chinook, but a CH-46 Sea Knight (aka Phrog). By the look on the interior of the cabin the Phrog is probably part of HMX-1 at Quantico VA. Among HMX-1s many missions it also supports the Officer Candidate School and the The Basic School.

The Army wears an ACU pattern (Dark Green, Greyish Green and Tan) that sticks out quite nicely in the desert, yet they still wear it.
