This is just a slight modification to the color levels of this image posted by a fellow BGG'er here:


It's really a very simple, but effective enhancement. For those interested I used the Gimp ( http://gimp.org) and simply opened the "Colors -> Levels" dialog. This presents you with a histogram of the color levels, which can be separated by channel. However, I generally only use the composite/default histogram.

Images that are too dark or washed out will typically present a spike in the histogram on either the left (dark) or right (light) side. In general, I adjust both sides of the histogram, as I did in this image.

Sometimes the color center needs to be adjusted as well. This image was still a little too light and pulling the center toward the darker colors enhanced the saturation.

Often, I adjust the saturation as well, but in this case it wasn't necessary.
