I know its a joke, and a great one at that... But what a damn good idea, for so many games.

How could this mechanism be added?

It could be setting a timer for each persons turn, but I suppose you would have a minimum. Like a minimun of 1 minute 30 seconds, and the first person to take longer than that gets it.

Any other ideas?

I printed this out and mounted it. It has become a regular part of every game of Settlers, passed around as a not-so-subtle hint.

But I need Biggest Whiner card in the correct colors and proportions of a Settlers set. Actually I prefer this version of Longest Turn:

It came second, it's clearly an imitation of this picture, it has only 10% of the thumbs, but I like the color and style.

Also, with the other card, how would one measure 'yawns' from drowsiness vs boredom vs inebriation?

blush Oh my GAWD. I just had one of those awkward moments of
deep insight into myself. The guys at my gaming group have complained
about me (with reason, I'm afraid) for years...

I've got to make up my own personal version of this...like find some old black and white picture on the internet, of a group of old men with long white beards sitting around a table, playing cards maybe, or watching a game of checkers or chess. What would really fit was if everyone in the picture had dosed off except the player moving his peices.

We use a 2 minute timer... where each player can only "flip over the timer" to another player only once per game. Thus the high stack of cards, constant whiner "nobody trades with me", and perpetual slow players turn ends when the last grain of sand falls. Great addition even though we use it in fun.
