But what are you doing with the navigation circle on that system called colony world. The one with comfort station. It is not there in the original version.
Have you play tested that? It seems like it could really change the game significantly.
I have not gone through all of your board. Are there any other changes you made?
The Nav Circle at Colony World is an official variant that can be found here on the 'geek. There is even a painted image that matches the original board (done by the same artist, I presume). Check the files section.
It seemed to me that this was less a variant and more of a correction to the original game.
That's the only difference between the original board and this new one.
Just a subtle design element incorporated into the background to help break up the space just a bit and give it more of a map or chart feel. In a printed version, the hexes should be even less noticeable.
Oh! An, of course, it's an homage to all those AH siblings of MoV that used the hex-and-counter system.
The map (and the accompanying ships) are beautiful. I (like everyone else I'm sure) greatly look forward to seeing your versions of the rest of the components.
I do think, however, that I've noticed a problem. In the original map, there are white lines connecting the Interstellar Biosphere space city to the rest of the network, while yours is isolated in space. You need a line on the left connecting the space city to the blue dot. On the right, you're missing a red dot in the ring, and the line connecting this dot to the space city.
I really like the look of the new map its beautiful.
I dont like the extra link added near comfort station as it devalues diving into the cloud on the first turn. I already see that side of the board as having the advantage due to the ease of travel/ lack of hazards ect.
Agreed, this massively changes the topology of the map and I would never call this a correction. Good as it looks, I'm unlikely ever to use this board as I'd have to paint over the navigation circle first and would constantly be reminded of it by the kink in the path from the rogue planet to the jungle world.
It's also sad that this board has lost the 3D information (the size of the navigation dots) that showed the relation of the systems to the "board plane". With the hexes underneath it ironically feels more gamey than the original.
Hope you post these for hi-res download!
