Hardly silly. That's a really underexposed photo.

What a pity it was simply resubmitted until it got passed instead of being replaced with an actual decent picture.

And it's even sadder that the designer gamed the system to get it passed.

I'd rather get a dark picture then none at all. This is the first pic of the production copies and I'm glad to get to see them. Dark or not its better then nothing. And yes, I helped get it approved.

So put a copy in your personal gallery and then start a thread pointing to it. That way people get to see it until you have the chance to take a better picture, and the BGG entry doesn't have a terrible picture stuck in it forever.

The designer started down this correct path: Submit picture; have it legitimately rejected; realize some people will want to see it anyway, so place in gallery and start thread. This was all good.

Where he went wrong was resubmitting it. And where the people like you went wrong was intentionally seeking out and approving the resubmission when you knew it was a bad picture.

It's not like this is a game from 1923 that only one blurry little picture is known to exist for and you had no choice in the matter.

I have to disagree with your assumption that this picture has no use in the gallery. It is the first pic of the production copy so has value from a historical standpoint. That's why I indicated to the designer to point that out in the image description. If this picture had no description then I'd have denied it. But since it is the very first pic taken directly from the first offloaded copy I think it is valid.

adamw, you fiend.

My interest had already waned on this, but now it's back on my wishlist.

Is the picture dark? Yes. At full size can you see most of the components? Yes. So the edges fade to dark... ok, it is a space game, it's thematic. Depth of field shots are accepted, even though only some of the picture is clear. Same deal here, just a different effect (even if it was unintentional.)

How about I delete it when I get a better picture?

And later, I will come to your house and give you a hug.

I like this picture. I would call it moodily lit rather than underexposed.

It's a pity some people enjoy hitting that reject button so much.

What's up with all the elitism? This is a gaming site, not a photographic journal, and for crying out loud, it's the first photo of the game's finished components. People want to see that.

I've seen FAR worse photos on BGG. This one struck me as more "mood lighting" than "bad lighting". But then, I'm a simple gamer, not a photography snob with an axe to grind.

Ohhh, what a pity. Yes, in a world where 100,000 are feared dead by a hurricane, "what a pity" that this image didn't get rejected until a more suitable one was released.
