My oh My.

I am going to be in Montreal this Month. I would stop by for a game but something tells me I would really need to extend my departure date. :p

Cool setup.

Is that hanging on the wall? If so, how do you get the counters to stay put? How are you hanging the map? Inquiring minds want to know.

Unfortunately, it's not my setup. It was created and brought in to a past World in Flames convention (WIFCon). The map was enlarged to 150% (IIRC), thus creating larger hexes and making for a less crowded game.

World in Flames (WIF) is commonly described as having 4 maps, two for Europe and two for Asia. Actually it has 7 maps. The 4 just mentioned plus another for Africa and one more each for North and South America.

Mounting the maps to something metallic is not a problem. The photograph uses tin sheets common at any renovation outlet. There also exists "paper steel" products that can be used.

The real trick is to magnetize the counters. The Counter Magnets mentioned in this thread are no longer produced. Search for the term here on BGG. They are discussed in detail. Another method is to use flexible magnetic sheets and back each counter. However, this requires a double set of counters as the flip-side of the counter is very important in WIF.

The ideal solution is to create new counters that are a sandwich of the printed front and back on paper, around a flexible magnetic middle.

Or you could just set up the game on the table as normal, clip a bunch of desk lamps to one side of the table (the "top"), and then tilt the camera so that it looks like the table surface is vertical rather than horizontal. :)
