Oddly enough - a broken piece from a tent stake. We had been camping the week before, and it was the nearest small item I had when I set down to play that day.

Funny how most play sessions pic have the hedge all aligned together in the backward. It's not in the rules, and it probably doesn't affect game play (unless you retreat in battle maybe), but ZimP players seems to be big fans of aesthetic...

Edit : And this really looks like a piece of cheese. It's awesome, I wish some commercial board game had pieces of cheeses as playing pieces

You're in luck! Look at Cashflow. The game absolutely sucks, though.
