I like this picture a lot better than the other one.

I can see now that the group of ships approaching the city is the focal point; the "gathering storm". In the original one you couldn't even tell the merchants (or whoever the two in the foreground may be) were looking at anything. Lead me to believe those ships were just background imagery.

This one makes much more sense.

I agree. The dude is like " four beers and a packet of futuristic pork scratchings plea....WTF!!!!" As four hard b*****d starships jump into low orbit.

Indeed - the earlier image looked more like that dude was about to shoplift a Super NES cartridge...
