The First Wave at Omaha Beach: setup using painted BattleHexes from rdoxx; the cliffs look quite foreboding when done in 3D.

I have painted up a hundred of these BattleHexes which I purchased from www.rdoxx.com. They certainly give a 3D look.

If you squint really closely, you can see Tom Hanks left foot amongst the Rangers in the bottom right corner; the rest of him is out of shot. Honest.

Yeah, when I had lunch with Tom the other day, he mentioned he was sure you got him in the picture.

As SOMEONE I kn ow likes to say, "Pyuredeadbrilliant!"

I played the same setup a couple of years ago with HeroScape tiles, and it DOES look intimidating! Very different "feel" when it has physicality to it.

Your Germans look very blue, have you painted them or something or is it just the photo?

Fredrik,

I'm afraid I got the colour saturation a bit off in the photo.

Yeah, 'cuz on my screen it looks like a bunch of Germans are invading Normandy.

Those battle hexes are a very cool idea, though. Kudos!

Wow. Its amazing how that is such a small, simple change that really does add a lot to the feel of the board. Looks great.

I picked up 24 of these battlehexes and they really are unfinished and have a 'just sand papered' feel to them. I'll be leaving them unfinished but they fit the hex exactly and work great in getting a lay of the land.

I bought the 24 set. They fit perfectly. There is no even need to paint them. The wood is naturally coloured. It gives the game a new dimension!

I just bought some wooden tiles and plan to paint them.
What colour would you choose for the cliff-side?
Yellow as the sand og a brown colour?

René,

I actually painted mine light grey so I could also use them on my winter boards. I only actually use three colours as seen below:

The ones on the left are actually grey. shake

I just use my heroscape tiles, works quite well and didn't cost me an extra dime! The shipping for these little wooden blocks would make any Euro game designer drool!

Good idea though, might be better if these were made from something lighter and come pre-painted for those of us that live on the other side of the planet.
