This can also be a good game for non-gamers, but ya gotta make sure folks are up for reading a lot of cards. In this case, she just got back from a long shift as a lifeguard, and interest ran low in a hurry!

Wow, I never considered Dominion to be "text intensive" it has really short keywords and effects, but I can understand that if she was tired she probably wasn't on the best mood for this type of game.

Yes, that's something I've been finding out - some non-gamers don't like to spend a lot of time squinting at microscopic text scribbled on cards. It's not a matter of intelligence - she's a math major and a dang sharp one at that - but more a matter of disposition and mood.

I think another problem is that we had a pretty crummy mix - I grabbed a random batch because my setup time was taxing everyone's patience - and as a result we there were a lot of cards that pretty much did the same thing and no action breeding ones. This is what prompted me to contribute to the "favorite sets" thread:
