Please tell us the story behind this fantastic shot!
Will do!
Since it was already so hard for us to get 7 players to commit to a game, the (Germanic) man in the middle made the event even more attractive by arranging a competition: best ethnic appearance would win a price!
Naturally, some prestige developed around this, and the fact that we scheduled it some months in advance allowed everybody to plan their look. There was also a lunch/dinner break half-way in, when everyone presented ethnic food from their respective country - this was also factored in the competition. Quite an event.
Turkey scored highly in all respects - his food was simply amazing, with several different home-made dishes, and his costume was, as you can see, quite accurate. His board position also made him the winner at the end - the actual game had suffered a little bit time-wise, and we did not get quite as far as one might have hoped. As I recall it, I was just about to rise from my modest position to conquer everyone, had we just had a couple of more turns...
Great costumes! Though I saw you remarked about the accuracy of the Turkish costume, I'm not sure, but I think the turban should be white. I think black turbans are usually Shi'a.
It was solitaire with cool cards. Zero interaction

I figured it was the other way around based on the OP's comment that the guy in the middle was "Germanic"
Hmm, he's flyin austrian colours, but germanic is still true in an ethnic sense.
Ah, yes, I was going the wider interpretation of "germanic". Indeed the above order is correct.
Thanks for all the positive comments!
"Freddy Mercury" also brought medals he ceremoniously awarded the other players when showing fidelity - a lot of them of course had to be recycled as one after another of us turned on him...
